Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Nope. That’s my opinion of the Enterprise at the Charleston airport. Let me preface this by saying that we rent cars often because we are frequent travelers. We’ve rented from Enterprise many times in the past without incident and we expected this to be similar.
We arrived on an evening flight from D.C. and went to pick up our car. We were expecting to pick a car that we were driving to Columbia that night. When we arrived, we were pointed to a Toyota Corolla. This car looked like someone’s personal vehicle. It was in terrible shape. There were dings all over it, there was a HOLE in the floorboard and stains all over the seat. GROSS. We immediately asked for another car. This isn’t «Rent-​A-​Wreck». This is Enterprise. When we asked for another, we were told that «This was all they had». Of course. I complained about the state of the car and he said that this was «due to women digging their heels into the bottom of the carpet». What? He also said that it «happens in all Corollas and Camrys». I told him that I’ve rented a ton of cars and I’ve never seen one in shape like this. I also mentioned that in fact, we’d JUST rented from an Enterprise in D.C. and our car was in excellent shape. His response «Well, this ain’t D.C. This is Charleson.». What does THAT have to do with anything? Should we expect subpar inventory because we are in Charleson? And subpar customer service to boot? My fiancé went back inside to talk to the people behind the counter (which were also just as useless). He was finally able to get us a better car. But Enterprise Charleston, do better. And Enterprise Corporate, send someone down to your Charleston location. They seem to be in trouble.

Rental agent at the airport was friendly and efficient. Walked a short distance outside terminal and had our pick of cars. we chose the fire engine red Dodge Charger. Made it real easy to spot our car during our trip. return of the car was simple and hassle free. Did not rate Enterprise as 5 stars because car was somewhat pricey.

Short line, fast service and the car was just fine. We made our reservations on line and no problems — billing was just as the estimate. Appreciate the good service when traveling.

Smooth, easy, and fast. Just how a car rental should be. Even paying with a debt card and still in and out quickly.

Easy pick up. Easy drop off. Prices are misleading from when you reserve until after they add on all their fees, taxes, gas, etc!

Best car rental experience in a long time! The time spent at the counter and in the counter line usually is not pleasant. No problems here! The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and informative. The time to complete the paperwork did not seem onerous at all! Clean quality automobile and the check in was PDQ! Pretty darn quick! No hassle from start to finish. My rental car company of choice at home and on travel!

Upon arrival, there were about 5 in front of me in line and two agents on duty. I realize I was coming in on a Saturday and the people in line were probably leisure travelers, but the line took over a half hour to get through. (I wish I was exaggerating.) Once I got to the front of the line, everything was relatively painless. The car was in good condition and the car return process was simple enough.

Arrived around 10 pm and had to wait in line for 20 plus minutes. Once I finished up and walked down to the car, the car had s cigarette burn hole in the seat and wreaked of smoke. Walked all the way back to the terminal with luggage in tow to only stand in line again to get a different vehicle. A very frustrating experience. Car was great except it didn’t have windshield washer fluid and with all the pollen in the air had to stop and pour my water on the windshield in order to see

Horrible service. Upon returning my car they find a dimple in the side door about a ¼ inch in diameter. It could have easily been there when I picked it up. The child working there said it would not be a problem and that Enterprise would be in contact with me. I leave for a month and come home to a letter from a collection agency saying I owe them $ 1,200.00 for the damage. Enterprise made no attempt to contact me over this matter and it affected my credit report. Other rental companies would have let this go or attempted to contact me. STAY AWAY FROM ENTERPRISE!!!

This was my first time renting a car from an airport and it was a breeze! I made the reservation online about a week before the trip online. The front desk person pulled up my reservation easily. My only problem with them was that the price online did not include insurance, which I had assumed it had, so my price went up about 77 bucks at the desk once I added on insurance. I wanted to return it to another enterprise closer to where we were staying and it was no problem. Everyone was very helpful and friendly throughout the process.

This experience was much better than the last one. Even though they were pretty busy they did a good job of quickly getting folks through the line and pick up and drop off of the vehicle when just fine.
The last time they were not very customer friendly in the least. I left my credit card at the office and they wouldn’t let me pick up my car with my wife’s credit card since it was not in my name, the first time they ever did that in the many times I rented cars there. My debit card wouldn’t work because I did not have a return flight itinerary. Which, they were correct, I did not, I live here and was not flying. I was dropped off so I had to get an Über ride back to my office and get my credit card and come back with it. Basically they had a real ‘FU, not my problem’ attitude when they could have easily said we will take your debit card but you have to come back with a credit card. So, because of that I got to pay an extra $ 30 and waste an hour and a half getting rides back and forth.
The only reason I ever use Enterprise is when the price is cheaper than everyone else.

My husband and I went to Charleston two weekends ago from Rockwall, TX for a little weekend getaway. Yes! It was super bowl weekend and being in SC we were routing for a Carolina win… oh well. Anyway, we rented a car from Enterprise and had such a pleasant experience. They were friendly and efficient. This was very nice because it was a little chilly out that weekend. We will certainly use Enterprise again.

Great experience. The agent at the counter was friendly, helpful, and efficient. The agent at the tent outside was the same. I’m always looking for great customer service, but also looking to get out and on the road quickly. This location has always been great at both!

I requested an upgrade when I arrived at the counter and received one for an additional $ 10/​day. I was given a Cadillac SRX. Later that evening there was a horrible glare on all the windows, especially the front which I did not notice during the day, but other drivers headlights made all too apparent. I stopped and purchased windex wipes and it appeared that the windows had been washed with an dirty oily rag. Two days later while driving in the rain the intermittent windshield wiper became possessed… In a light drizzle the wipers would go from intermittent to continuous to monsoon mode fast. Turning off the windshield wiper would temporarily correct the problem but would soon recur. And they take the owners manuals out of the rental cars so you can’t look up if you are using it right.
I mentioned this to the attendant when I returned the car. She apologized, said she would mention it to the people who service the car and asked if I would like to keep the charge on the credit card I used. When I returned home, I filled out the online customer contact form indicating the problems that I had. Three days later I have not received any response except the automated «someone from our office will be contacting you shortly».
But they did send me a link asking me to post my review on Unilocal,so here you are. In summary:
Dirty windows, equipment not operating correctly, no customer service.

I’ve rented here multiple times. Staff is always great and cars are in good condition. This is also a very easy pickup location. I always appreciate the short walk out to the car in their section of the lot. If you pick up your car late though, and it’s unfamiliar, good luck. There is no one manning the lot at night. It took my a while to deal with the push button start, in the dark.
Although I like Enterprise generally this is not the least expensive option by a long shot, even with deals and discounts. In fact I have a trip coming up and for the first time my business is going elsewhere. In this location Enterprise has bumped their prices way up, double what I just paid a couple of weeks ago. So, if you’re on an expense account and/​or want/​need the convenience of in-​terminal location, this is a great option. If you’re on your own check around if price is an issue.

What a breeze! But I could see how it might not be for some.
You see, our bags were some of the first to pop out of the baggage claim vault. Right after, we followed the signs to the rental car area. Only two people were in front of us in line, and then a business traveler walked up and had priority, of course.
So once we got to the front, we turned around and there was a massive line behind us. Yikes. The guy who was working was super friendly (and originally from Jersey too!) and quickly gave us the keys to a Civic.
It was raining out that day, but it didn’t take long to find the car.
On the way back a few days later, we filled it up, parked in the car return, and it was promptly inspected.
Such a simple process that I might just start renting cars more often!

I’m basing this rating on superior customer service received from Carolyn (who I assume is a manager at this location). In a nutshell, my wife picked up a rental car which was not ready to be rented as the seats were wet from cleaning or from windows down during rainstorm.
As a result, my wife had to change clothes twice. I was extremely angry and left a message to that effect — Carolyn called me back to apologize and made it clear we would resolve the matter during the course of the phone conversation. Mission accomplished and she did a great job at building a loyal customer.

I get strangely excited about renting cars.
Enterprise Rent-​A-​Car at the Charleston Airport lived up to my expectations and got me rolling ASAP upon arrival.
1. LOCATION: It is always a bonus when one lands at an airport and the rental car facility is RIGHT inside the airport. Not a shuttle, no bus, no hefting bags across multiple bridges and parking lots to a far flung corner of the airport abyss… but right in the airport. This is exactly the case at CHS, and about 12 steps from baggage claim you’ll find the shiny new car rental facility. After settling you rental at the appropriate counter, you’ll proceed out to the parking lot and pick up your car. It’s all within about 500 feet, magical.
2. EASE: Easy peasy! About 2 minutes and paperwork squared away and I was off to the lot to get my car. Once in the lot (you’ll find the correct tent for you rental agency) they’ll hook you up with a car. The Enterprise guys were friendly and very quick.
3. WHEELS: I truly enjoyed our Black Jeep Cherokee with under 1k miles on it. It was sparkly and worked out well for our crew (3 adults, 1 baby with a carseat and a boatload of luggage).
4. RETURN: As easy as the pick-​up. Wam, bam thank you Enterprise.

This branch and subsequent dealings with their 800 number has ruined my trip to South Carolina. I cannot believe that they can conduct their business like this. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau.
Bottom line, we rented a car today, and it died on is. We have spent the whole day talking to idiot representatives. At one point they reported they had no record of our complaint. This was after they had already paid for a taxi to get me to a business meeting.
I called to report that the car would not start at 2pm. They kept saying that a replacement car was coming. Cue to 8 hours later and still no car. They told me I have to wait until the morning. So I lost a vacation day today and probably another one tomorrow and they don’t even have any remedy.
They are liars, it’s that simple. They do not care about service. Will never be renting from them again, and will be telling my company to close the corporate account. I can’t believe this BS has singlehandedly ruined what was supposed to be a good getaway.

Picked up our rental car from the Enterprise in downtown Charleston and dropped it off at the Charleston airport.
Pros:
1. The Enterprise at the CHS airport is located IN the airport so you do not have to take a shuttle to the terminal! It’s only a 30 second walk!
2. Friendly nice employees
Cons:
1. The cars are REALLY dirty when they give them to you. there was a sticky residue all over the armrest.
2. They will NOT pick you up on a Sunday. they do not stand by their motto.
3. On Sundays they are only open 9 – 12
4. there is a fee to pick up at one location and drop off elsewhere
