Came to Charleston on business… was told this place was a must before leaving. Great Food… wonderful staff! I ordered the veal and my portion was more than enough. Huge! My favorite part was the appetizers… the chicken wings were perfect.

We ate here last night for the first time in several years. The food was OK, nothing specific to complain about, but the prices are ridiculous. $ 23 for about a cup and a half of pasta and 4 thumb sized pieces of grilled chicken. Come on. My son got a small pizza, 8 inches, it was $ 15.00 and looked like a frozen pizza. He also had 2 glasses of milk, at $ 3.50 a pop. Yes, $ 7.00FORMILK. The most ridiculous thing is the added on tip. We had 13 people total, divided into 5 checks, we were all charged $ 15.99 -$ 22.99 on top of our meal for a tip. Don’t get me wrong, our server was good, and I know we had a decent size party, but over $ 100 for a tip for an hour long meal with one visit after dinner was served to check on refills? I think that’s a bit much. Our bill alone was $ 89.56 for 2 plates of pasta, a small pizza and our drinks(iced teas and milk). I’m sorry, but that is absurd in Charleston, WV, especially when the food is no more special than The Olive Garden. Go if you want to pay double the worth of a dinner, or if you just want to name drop that you went to Fazios, but I won’t be back. We could eat an OK pasta dinner somewhere else for half the price.

I’ve been going to this restaurant since my mother was pregnant with me back in 1952. My parents said that, when the restaurant first opened, there was only a counter and four booths. It was all the spaghetti you could eat for a dollar! Bullitt Street was in an unsavory part of of Charleston at that time, and my father used to say that Joe should be given an award by the city for helping to clean up that part of town with his business. The Fazio family lived in the back of the restaurant, and after I was born, my parents would put me on one of the family’s beds to sleep while they ate. One of my favorite pictures of me and my father, was taken when I was a baby and and he was holding me at the restaurant. It used to hang on the wall in the restaurant, along with pictures of other customers from those long ago days. I had my first taste of Joe’s delicious spaghetti sauce when I was just 3 months old, and I’ve been a fan ever since! Joe Fazio’s has continued to be the family favorite through the years. We had our parent’s 50th wedding anniversary party there, and Joe had a beautiful plaque made for my parents celebrating their marriage and his friendship with them. My sisters and I even purchased his sauce to serve at the funeral dinner after my father’s death since, since Joe’s spaghetti was his favorite You could not get more authentic Italian food than that served at Joe Fazio’s, as the recipes were brought to the U.S. by Joe’s parents from Italy. My favorite meal is the«Fiesta» dinner which includes an antipasta salad, sausage appetizer with a «pepper sauce» composed of green and red bell peppers in a delicious red sauce, a combo plate of spaghetti and ravioli, garlic bread, and Spumoni ice cream for desert! I always substitute the ravioli with the scrumptious baked eggplant. It is quite a feast! It also comes with the best garlic bread I have ever eaten. I always take half of the meal home, and can enjoy a second delicious meal. I remember the great days with Joe and his wfe, Nell, who is now deceased. They were always there, along with their daughter, Patty, to give a warm welcome. They always made the restaurant feel like a familiar home. I’m so sad to see that Joe’s name has been taken off the sign on the front of the restaurant when he was the one who opened it. He deserves the honor of keeping his name on his creation. Thanks, Joe, for all the memories and here is to many more!

Wonderful authentic Italian food! My steak was cooked to a medium rare perfection and the scallops were divine. I loved the little touches like the crackers and cheese dip with a side of fruit, the delicious sauce served with the flavorful sausage appetizer bites, and the old-school décor that probably hasn’t changed in 30 years. It felt like home.

I enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. The staff was very friendly and I enjoyed my food(the Cajun chicken dish is really good!) my wife however wasn’t pleased with her manicotti.(We sent it back) Overall I’m gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and give it a 4⁄5.

What has happened to Fazio’s. It was a family favorite, but not anymore. We have friends who drove a couple of hours from their home and chose to eat at Fazio’s because we had bragged on it through the years. Not a pretty sight! Poor service — tasteless food and an overall thumbs down! My family and I agree we ate there after our friends and I was in agreement with them! Needless to say we are currently looking for a NEW favorite place to enjoy a great, delicious dinner! We still miss Nell and Patty… the heart of the establishment!

One of the truly best restaurants in Charleston! BEST filet mignon to be found! Plus we’ve tried several other dishes that were wonderful, also. Courteous wait staff. Clean. Gets busy in the evenings so try for reservation if you have time to call ahead.

What a great place with great food and timely service. We visited as a night out with the outlaws and was more than pleasantly pleased. I had the«fresh» veal parmigiana and I must tell you, it was outstanding. We will certainly be back again. Nice job Fazio! Charleston WV.

We are from out of town and we’re looking for a sit down Italian meal. Seems this town has a lot of pizza places, but few that focus on cuisine. Bottom line up front: very good Italian in the American tradition. No, not like what I’ve eaten in Florence, Rome, and Venice, but the food was honest and flavorful for the U.S. I ordered the calabrese salad, chicken Marsala, and shared the cheese cake. The portions were good. I’m definitely full. The garlic bread is as tasty as advertised. The salad was fresh, well presented, and hit the spot. The chicken was tender and moist and the sauce was delicate and mushroomy. Our server was quick and courteous with a very good awareness of the menu. I recommend.

Since I hadn’t been to Charleston for 7 years, I was especially excited to meet my family at Fazio’s. The food was great, as always, but the service was disappointing. First, the waiter forgot to ask my mother what she wanted to drink. Second, he forgot to bring my cousin his beer. Third, I was literally still eating off my plate when he asked if I was done and tried to take it from me. Similarly, he removed the bread basket from the table before asking if we were done. In general, the waiter was less than friendly and quite frankly a bit rude and rushed is through dinner. Since we were a party of 7, gratuity was already included. Otherwise, I would have tipped less for the service difficulties we experienced. Unfortunately, I won’t be so excited to come back to Fazio’s the next time I visit.

If you can get over the strange and outdated décor, this place is absolutely amazing. From the cheese spread with cantaloupe, to the garlic toast, to the entrees, they put a lot of work into everything that goes on the table. I never would have thought of ordering filet at an Italian restaurant… I always got pasta. However, I tried their blackened filet and it is now probably my favorite food in the whole world, and the best steak I’ve had anywhere. The minestrone is also incredible!

Definitely has an old school feel– from the rustic Italian 80s décor to the Sinatra playlist. The salad was soggy– but the house dressing was homemade. The pasta primavera was ok. The bread and chianti were delicious!

There’s not many restaurants like Fazios. It’s so stuck in time — and I mean that in a good way — it has become a true classic. The food is great: it’s all of the Italian-American classics that you grew up with, but there’s been no attempts to «update» them or add«fine dining» twists. It’s the old reliable stand-bys done exceptionally well. Love the bread, salad, pasta dishes and classics like veal or eggplant parmigiana. The specials are usually great, too!

Charming old-world Italian charm. Amazing minestrone soup. Incredible bread. Made-to-order pasta dish to accommodate my special diet was divine. Very attentive waiters. Best Italian food I have had in a very long time. Can’t wait to come back!

Just had my annual birthday party for 40 people there. They are without doubt the best Italian restaurant around. They are family owned and worked. The staff is amazing and accommodating. The selection is huge and the wine list is very diverse. Can’t say enough about Danny and Marsha. Love them.

I’ve never been to Fazios, but the other 3 people had. They told me it would be a nice dinner. We had Reservations were at 7pm. We did have to wait about 15 minutes though, as they were packed and it was A Friday night. Very nice place to enjoy fine dinning. First you get pimiento cheese and crackers and some butter, a piece of cantaloupe and Everything we ordered was great. We had a verity of food but the lasagne I ordered with my shrimp was kind of a disappointment. I thought It would be layered with a bunch of cheese and it was Like eating a noodle with meat sauce. But the taste was outstanding. Salads were good, but ask for dressing on the side. Mine had way To much!!! They also bring out a big loaf of garlic bread that was great! Our server was Dustin and he was excellent! If you go, ask for him. He will no disappoint you! This is a great place to go, enjoy company with and there was no pressure To rush. Kinda pricey, but well worth it!

In reality I’d really like to give this place 2.5 stars because 3 is too high and 2 is a bit low. If you are in any kind of a hurry, this is not the dining establishment for you. The service is probably the slowest of any restaurant I’ve ever been to. The food was a bit overpriced and nothing beyond average at least for the pasta my wife and I had. It’s all in the gravy and theirs was ok but not great. The garlic bread they bring is good and plentiful. Salad was good and homemade Thousand Island just right. As far as attire I saw everything from people in shorts to old ladies dressed up as if they were going to church. Definitely make a reservation if dining on a Friday or Saturday night. The interior is dated as other reviewers have said but I think it gives the place character. Nothing wrong with tradition. My main complaint is with the service. Also, they’ll add 20% to your bill when you receive it regardless of how large your party is. If you get Dustin as your waiter, you could be in for an adventure… This is one of those places that has been around for generations and has a LOT of regulars. I think if you’re from Charleston, you might mistake this for really great Italian but if you’ve been to enough other areas of the country you probably won’t be wowed. I would try it again because I’ve heard good things about their steak. I just won’t make any immediate plans for after dinner.

Great little yet big place. The food was good if I were you skip the regular pasta dishes get the fish or a steak dish. They are so good! The wait staff was great too. They actually did take the time out to talk and joke with you.

Horrendous customer service. If you are willing to sacrifice your pride for a plate of mediocre spaghetti, this is your place. Disgusting attitude– and frankly, disgusting establishment. Until they get rid of the«wife» with the entitled & racist attitude who is in charge of reservations… run– in the other direction.
