Georgean’s Caribbean Soul

So happy they deliver via Grubhub downtown. Ordered online and someone from the restaurant called me to clarify the address and to remind me to tip the delivery person. I was planning to do so.. . Got the jerk chicken. It was very tasty. The pieces of chicken were small and covered in skin which kept them juicy. I got rice and veggies on the side and found them to be delicious. I also split a side of mac and cheese and cauliflower. I echo others — the cauliflower needed more flavor or at least some salt. The texture was great though. The mac and cheese was earthy and warm. I really liked it. I am a small eater and I found myself wanting more food. Rarely do I clean my plate. Maybe the portions should be a little bigger.. .

This place is awesomely delicious. All of the food is off the chain, especially the mac and cheese and cauliflower mash. The owners are so sweet and really know what they’re doing. You won’t be disappointed!

The jerk chicken was very moist, tasty and flavored nicely. In my opinion, it did not have any jerk flavors… scotch bonnet peppers or any kind of heat. It can be made a million different ways, this just was not what I was looking for. The mac and cheese was just okay. The curry chicken was not very good. We did not finish it. Might try this place again at some point in the future and see if they have changed.

I unintentionally drove by here done day and asked myself, «Self? What the hell is a restaurant doing right her? Oh well. I’ll find out another day.» Then I moved on with my life and didn’t think much more about it.
Today I was in the mood for something new, so I pulled out my handy dandy smart phone and took a gander at the nearby restaurant map. Caribbean soul food? Sweet! Wait. Isn’t this the place in the middle of a neighborhood? Awh hell, why not?
Why not indeed good sirs an ma’ams! My mind was blown. This tiny little kitchen nestled between two houses across from a church in bringin some bangin Caribbean cuisine to Charleston. After checking out the other reviews, the jerk chicken, cauliflower mash, and macaroni and cheese seemed to be the way to go, and oh ho ho, it is.
The jerk chicken is cooked was wet jerk seasoning, and the blend of sweet and savory spices shone bright in every bite. The sliced chicken rested on a bed of cauliflower mash, and the mash was perfect for wiping up all of the juices left behind. «Totes Delish.» Their macaroni and cheese is what I dreamed about as a kid. I just didn’t know it yet. Creamy, cheesy goodness. What’s not to love? And how about those prices? Delicious and affordable? Awh yeah.
I can’t wait to go back… possibly this weekend.

Hello jerk chicken! I had been wanting to try this place for a while, so the when the occasion arose we finally called in an order. When we swung by to get it we were greeted by an extremely friendly, eager to please staff and enjoyed chatting with them for a few minutes. There were two outside tables set up, but it was a sweltering day so we took the food to go.
The jerk chicken was amazing, tender, moist and spiced perfectly. — insert brief 10 second mouth watering break here — I’m not a cauliflower fan but as I like to give new things a try, I found the cauliflower mash to be intriguingly good. The mac and cheese was also a winner. The prices are pretty reasonable for Charleston as well. So until my next craving…

This place is awesome! Not a huge inside but they have some picnic tables for an outside waiting area which is nice. The food is AMAZING. I got the jerk chicken bowl and she said it was smaller than the box but still had so much food! For sides I got mac n cheese which was also delish and the veggies and rice which was also super good. I would highly recommend this place. Its easy to pass by but stop by if you know whats good for you!

We discovered here by reading an article in a local paper, and we were glad we did! We ordered the jerk chicken, curry chicken, and had mashed cauliflower and mac and cheese as sides. We were very impressed with it all! The chicken was some of the best I’ve ever had, and comes close to my mom’s cooking, who is Jamaican! I hope the restaurant becomes a food truck sometime soon. This food must be experienced all over town!

Simply delicious, though I would like a large size of my meal

This was delicious! I am from Ohio and was craving Jamaican while on vacation and this hit the spot!
We ordered the Sunday Family Dinner and subbed jerk chicken. The sides were delicious! We had green beans, Mac and cheese and mashed yams. The yams were very sweet and cinnamony!
They were great and made this in much less time than they normally require. The place was great– just good down home cooking and so good. Reasonable price for the amount of food and incredible quality!
Would definitely visit again when I’m in town!

Amazing! Deborah (the owner) was unbelievably friendly. It felt like meal straight from Mom. This place will rock your world. Jamaican me crazy!!!

Lily brought me to Georgean’s yesterday with the promise of yummy jerk chicken and «bangin’ mac and cheese.» I ordered the Jerk Box with mac and cheese and rice & veggies, and I was not disappointed. I kind of wish that I’d gotten a double order of mac, because it really was bangin’
The owners were awesome and super friendly, even though we ordered 20 minutes before they closed, forcing them to stay open an extra 20 minutes to prepare all of our food. She said they keep the light on and the door open while they’re there, so even if it’s past closing time, «if somebody’s hungry, we’ll feed ‘em.» They also said that they can make most Caribbean dishes, even if they’re not on the menu as long as you give them a little heads up.
I got a lot of food for 10 bucks, and it was all delicious. I’m not a huge fan of skin-​on chicken, but it tasted so good that I hardly even noticed. If you haven’t stopped here yet, get your butt down to Line!

I saw Lily’s review the other day and I immediately started craving some jerk chicken. I made the decision to swing by on my way home from work. I saw on their menu where it said that you could place an order by phone, email or fax and they’d have your food ready when you got there. Being at work, I’d much rather email than call and that’s exactly what I did. However, when I got there I met Deborah, the owner, and she immediately apologized for not having my food ready since she didn’t see my email until just a couple of minutes before. Not a big deal to me since I knew they just opened and they probably just need to get into the swing of things.
She was so nice and offered to take it out to my car when it was ready. I appreciated that since the place is crazy tiny. It’s solely a pick-​up place so there isn’t a place to dine or really even wait around. The location isn’t the most ideal but the fact that there are no issues with finding parking and how inexpensive the food is, I have no complaints. My food came to just under $ 9, which is a steal.
So, the food. Sooooo good. The jerk chicken was charred on the outside and perfectly moist on the inside with just the right amount of spiciness. And mixed with the rice and veggies makes for the perfect bite. The mac & cheese and cauliflower mash was also delicious. Seriously, I’ve been dreaming about this food since I had it. Can’t wait to try the curry chicken next time. And there will be a next time and a next and a next…

I learned about Georgean’s simply by driving down Line Street and spying their brightly colored sign. Then I happened upon a Post and Courier article about its opening and decided to give it a shot!
The building Georgean’s is in is tiny, so at the moment they just do take-​out. You can smell the curry and jerk spices as you walk in the door. I ordered the curry chicken bowl with mixed veggies and rice and cauliflower mash. The curry chicken is cooked and served skin-​on so flavor isn’t lost. The curry is mild and deliciously home-​y. The chicken curry is served over the veggies and rice so the curry sauce flavors that, too. My friend ordered the jerk chicken with the same sides plus mac and cheese. The mac and cheese is a creamy winner. The jerk chicken was also mild, so if you really love heat you might want to ask them to kick it up for you, but I’m a wimp for heat so I enjoyed the tamer, sweet jerk. The cauliflower mash was really smooth but very lightly seasoned so you might need to add your own salt and pepper!
Both of our meals were tasty and comforting on the rainy day we ordered. I love that there is a new eating establishment right around the corner from me and I can’t wait to try their other sides.
