First time at a Huddle House and got exactly what I expected. Nice diner-esque setting where the working guy can grab a bite looking like he works for a living. Food was good, just plain working man fare; eggs and bacon. Guy next to me was eating fried chicken out of a mountain of hash browns. Waitresses were very nice. Hard working women who understand their job, unlike some places that hire lookers that have no idea how to wait tables. There was no smoking. I sat at the counter and had a good view of the cooking line, which was clean and maintained. Will be back.

We always have problems with service here but this last time they way over cooked the steak and told us there was nothing they can do about it. Then one waiter had the nerve to look at me and shake his head like we did something wrong for saying something about it. After years of living on the island and coming here with our family, we won’t be returning after the way we were treated.

There are few things in life one wants and a good Breakfast is one. I’m a local and over the past few years frequented the HH at times for breakfast. I love this type of restaurant with the frumpy character waitresses an usual greasy but good olé fashioned breakfast food. There’s usually a nostalgic air about these places but this one has a poor history. Up until last year it was run by a family. Mom was the manager, daughter was one of the waitresses, and temperamental Grand daughter cooked at times. The atmosphere was always a bit unruly but the food was good. This year there are new owners and though it’s a bit cleaner, the food is never the way I’ve ordered it. I used to asked for over easy but it came runny. Then tried over medium still came runny. My wife’s food always arrives cold. And they always offer to nuke it? I would advise another choice in the area. Stay away.

Slowest service ever. As we were sitting there waiting for our breakfast, the waitress made several rude comments as other customers pulled into the parking lot. She would(loudly) say things such as «oh no! More customers! Go away!» Really? You would think customers would be welcomed considering this is how waitresses make their money? We spent much too long waiting for our food then had to ask repeatedly for things we needed such as napkins and the check. It was obvious that our waitress was not thrilled about her job.

This is a Huddle House so my expectations were realistic. Food was fine, service was fine, and the value was very good. We were on our way out of town heading home and just wanted a quick breakfast. It hit the mark. My only real comment here is that people were smoking in the restaurant. I live in NC where you cannot do that, nor anywhere else it seems these days, but apparently this Huddle House is smoker friendly which is really weird since Charleston County, SC has a non-smoking ordinance for restaurants. I got a little civil disobedience with my eggs. Not the most appetizing mix.

Service took forever, which is not what you want when you are sitting in a place that doesn’t see too much cleaning. Felt like the regulars got served right away and anybody the waitresses didn’t know had to wait for a long time. That said, the food was actually pretty good, good portion size and if I came here all the time I’d probably love it. But for a one time trip I wouldn’t recommend it.

Better than the Waffle House, food is usually good, waitresses are nice, and you can eat here at all hours of the night.
