After eating trending food it was time for some meat! We headed to nicks. Sat at the bar. This is a casual place. Food service at the bar was excellent. The bar tender recommended the meatloaf BBQ sandwich It was a treat. I would not have ordered it. But darn glad I did! Flavors were intense. Hit the spot. Had the baked beans. Good but not unique. The ipa beer that was recommended was superb… Yes I ordered another. If you are hungry and you want a good casual place for lunch check this place out Enjoy

I would never go back. My experience was less than enjoyable. Overpriced and small portions.

Great service! The cheese biscuits were awesome! I had the brisket sandwich and it tasted great… smokey aroma and tenderly delicious too! Definitely a place to dine in Charleston!

We went on Monday night and were seated with no wait. Quickly we received little muffins that were so tasty and warm. Ordered the BBQ spare ribs Mac and cheese and Cole slaw, my husband got his order of ribs with collards. We both agree the Mac n cheese is the best! Waiter was great and service was fast. We will be back !

The bbq is slow cooked and they take the time needed to make it oh so tender. Ribs were excellent, brisket melted in your mouth. Mac and cheese was super rich. Fried green tomatoes good. The cheese biscuits were tasty, maybe a little sweet for me. The staff very helpful and attentive. I am a fan, Steve

Ok. This is the second time I have been here. Was in a hurry the last time to catch a flight. So a review is definitely worthy the second time around. Not to mention this is where I ran into wild Bill from Deadliest Catch. To start, the Mini Cheese Biscuit Muffin things are to die for. Not great when one typically likes to watch his carb intake. More biscuits please … Oh so sweat and creamy. The peach iced tea? Yes, real chopped up peaches. No sweetener needed with this one. For those who know me personally, I can’t get enough Salt Lick when I visit my dad’s in Austin. I hear Franklin’s is better, but the Jarvis family is too impatient to stand in line only to hope they won’t run out before we get up next. However, I would have to say that after a couple times here, Jim ‘N Nicks is approaching(but not quite ready to commit) as my number one favorite for BBQ. I have always loved the Carolina vinegar based sauces, and here they are amazing. Try the Habanero one. The ribs, so good. I think the best of all the meats, although their pulled pork is pretty amazing. Only thing missing are some onions and pickles on the table. Now the sides. Sides are sides, but the mac and cheese. Holy cow. Talking with the manager, he says it is all in the roux they make. Freaking good. If I lived here, the 40 pounds I lost would come back on in a heartbeat. A must try while in Charleston. Cheers. P

We had the the mixed meat combo which was excellent and a very generous portion big enough for 2. The baby back ribs were the high lite of the night, perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. The amazing selection of Bourbons and great service had a major factor in the 5 star review.

Kind of «for what it is» rating. A chain, yes, but for a chain pretty good. Staff is typically prompt and always friendly, the volume for what you get is quite good, and in the half dozen or so times I’ve been the past few years I’ve never disliked what I ordered. Their mac could stand up against most, and you can feed two people off one of the combo platters quite easily. Not exactly where you want to woo somebody on a first date but if you’re trying to have a budget meal you can do far worse, next door for example. Also the only restaurant I’ve seen people bow and pray over two sandwiches at lunchtime, so that’s where to be for a couple of ladies that either really love god or really love fried catfish. Or both I suppose.

Ok I am a bbq snob and three stars are pretty high for a bbq restaurant ! The place is a well oiled machine ! I had the four meats(spare ribs, chicken, pulled pork and brisket). I am not a big fan of there sauce due to I like red sauces that are a little sweeter ! They gave me 4 spares and they were chewy and over cooked ! They also included the chime bones ! All in all, pork is good, chicken not really smoked but very good and brisket ok ! I liked it and would go back!

Wow! Stopped by this restaurant by myself and sat at the bar. Very friendly staff and had a few beers and ordered one of their bbq plates — pulled pork with beans and home made chips… Wow wow wow! Flavored were amazing… Go there.

Flight got got delayed so we stopped here to grab food. Very close to the airport. Service was quick and friendly. Food was very tasty, everything came out great! Very clean atmosphere. I’ve definitely dined at a Jim n Nicks before and this is one of the better ones– very clean, polite, and accommodating. Stop here if you ever need some quick BBQ!

I ordered a salad without cheese and it came with cheese on it. Otherwise the food was good and I would return.

The Best BBQ in Charleston Something has really changed for the better with the new management of this restaurant. We have been there perhaps 15 times in the last 4 months. Every time the food and service have been consistently awesome. The food is the best«from scratch» in the area. Everything is fresh and made with care. Their Cuban is the best we have ever had, and that is a true test of quality, since it has so many different flavors packed into a delicious sandwich, from the tender pork, to the moist flavorful ham, along with the the grilled onions and melted cheese. Brooke or Brittney usually take care of us. We enjoy both of their smiles, enthusiasm, and warmth. Whenever we visit as of late, we feel as if they want us there, and we know that our next visit will be as great as the last.

Jim ‘N Nick is one of our favorite places for good barbecue here in the low country. The food: My wife’s favorite is their«PIGGIEINTHEGARDENSALAD» $ 8.75 Mixed green lettuce, smoked bacon, cheddar, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, almonds and our homemade croutons, topped with our smoked, pulled pork. My favorite is the«THEDOUBLEDECKER» A combination of pulled pork and beef brisket with 2 trimmings $ 12.50. The sandwich is delicious and it reminds me of a Big Mac with BBQ. With the double decker, you get best of both worlds, BBQ and brisket. As far as trimmings, I usually get it with fries and potato salad or beans. Their fries are yummy and the give you a generous portion. If you prefer a salad or baked, I believe it’s only an additional $ 2. Lastly, we have tried their Ribs and we’re not impressed. Personally, not as good as Sticky Fingers Ribs. Drinks: Their ice tea is great as well, not too sweet or unsweetened, mixed just right served with crushed ice. Kids: My kids usually get either their tender kids meal or kids size BBQ sandwich with fries. The amount of fries are plentiful, very comparable to the amount adult entrees offer. The prices are really reasonable all below $ 5 from what I recall, which also comes with a drink. Ambiance: The restaurant is decorated appropriately with several BBQ focused decoration and large dining spaces. The table and seating were quite clean. The Alabama based chain does well in this department. Service: Their service, however, can be hit or miss. With the half a dozen times we’ve been here, the service was either top notch or lacking. Otherwise I would have given them 5 stars.

I flipping love Jim & Nicks. This place has, for me, become a must visit whenever I’m in Charleston SC. The cheese biscuits are better than anywhere else’s, their peach tea is glorious and everything on the menu will leave you happy. I used to try to shovel a starter and an entrée down my face but always left with a to-go box, bloated and unable to move. Now I just get a main: you can’t go wrong with the 1 meat platter if you’re hungry, 2 or 3 meat platter if you’re ravenous. Their habanero BBQ sauce is a pretty decent bit of food lube and everything is freaking delicious. That’s all I’m writing for now as I’m in the parking lot and trying to write a quick review as, like a dork, I’m not sure how Check In reviews work. Don’t judge me but I’ll be honest, we ate there yesterday. We just happened to be at the new Field & Stream store right next door this arvo, so I did a belated check-in while I could.

Overall it was a good experience but nothing exceptional. The portions are good for the price point, so if you’re looking for a good deal this is good spot.

I went to Jim ‘N Nick’s with a group from work for a lunch outing. They were your typical bbq joint, with a very big chain-like feeling. I know that they are a «local» chain with only a few storefronts, but it felt as if I was in a place that is known nation wide(applebees, fridays, etc) Their food was just okay. The chicken was a bit dry and the pulled pork wasn’t portioned very well. I had a ton of fat in mine and felt like there was more fat than there was actual meat. Their sauces were meh. Nothing to write home about. Their portions were on the smaller side for their prices. It won’t stay at the top of my radar for food options in North Chuck.

Over the last 2 years I have seen the food at this location change in a bad way. Frustrating because when I moved to Charleston, this spot was a great(chain) BBQ spot to run into for lunch or while out shopping. As other recent reviews have mentioned, the quality of the food just isn’t all that amazing. It isn’t BAD, but if you come looking for some insane BBQ that can’t be matched, you will be disapointed. Jim N Nick’s has gone from good bbq, to chain style generic. The Mac N Cheese that once was so breathtaking it had it’s own name(Mac The Chesse) has faded and been renamed. The BBQ is clearly not the same quality as it used to be and the prices have continued to climb to the point of absurdity. IF you have a BBQ craving and are in the area, this is not a TERRIBLE option, but just don’t expect anything more than the Fatz across the street could offer.

I definitely feel a bit of a victim to the hype. I definitely had higher expectations for the food but have the say that the service is impeccable. We called ahead for pick-up and were told that our food would be ready in 20 minutes. We arrived at the 25 minute mark and our food was absolutely ready to go. Everything was packaged and bagged ready to travel and the food we picked at on the car clearly packaged at a properly heated serving temperature. I do have to say that overall the food wasn’t as spectacular as expected. I don’t think it’s because we ordered pick-up but because I’m just not that into it. The Mac and cheese was OK. The BBQ was overall OK — we ordered chicken, brisket, baby back ribs, and hot pork sausages. The brisket was really yummy but everything else was really just OK. The baked potato side I ordered had good toppings but was overall just a touch undercooked. And now for the biscuits. Maybe it’s because I was raised on the west coast and spent the 13 years of my life prior to moving to South Carolina in Hawaii and Guam but I would definitely call these things muffins NOT biscuits. Nevertheless, if I eat them expecting sweet cornbread inspired cheese muffins, they are delicious. If I try to eat them expecting actual biscuits, I am grossly disappointed. Nevertheless, the place is overall a solid three stars. I’d throw in an extra half a star if I could for the great service but the food really doesn’t justify giving it 4 stars in my book.
