I had a horrible experience with Trey King. He was one of several builders who prepared quotes to build my house. All of the other unsuccessful contractors were gracious and wished me luck with my house but, when I informed Trey King that I would not be using him, he became angry and abusive. He said that he was going to bill me for his time spent in preparing the quotes and would lien my property if I didn’t pay. He also promised to make sure that none of his subcontractors would work on my project. True to his word, Trey King sent me a bill for«design, redesign and budget consultation» but instead of liening my property as he had threatened to do(the law provides for stiff penalties for filing a frivolous lien), he sued me in small claims court(case was dismissed). He also had a number of his subs send me emails informing me either that they would not be working with except as a sub for Trey King or that the quotes they provided were no longer good. I was stupid not to have heeded the small insights into Trey King’s difficult personality and his penchant for retaliation that he revealed during the evaluation process. I would have saved myself considerable time and aggravation had I eliminated him from consideration sooner.
