Charleston in a Nutshell

Don’t hesitate, book a tour with Charleston in a Nutshell now. With so many options for tours in the city, my husband and I spent quite awhile deciding which would give us the best overview of the city.
It was such a good tour, we went on another that evening! The morning tour is a great introduction to the ins and outs of the city, including many interesting tips and tidbits about the homes, churches, and other buildings. It was two hours long and kept at a great pace.
The twilight tour was fantastic as well, about an hour and a half. The tour guide, Jeff, is the only one who leads the tours and his enthusiasm for Charleston rubs off on you as you travel around the city. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask, he will be able to answer them!

I purchased a Groupon and took this tour on a Wednesday morning with my sister. When I booked the tour, the guide gave me an address for a nearby parking garage which really helped a lot since I was just visiting the city and didn’t know my way around at all. I put the address in the GPS and we found the garage with no problem, It was a short walk to the fountain at Waterfront Park where we were to meet the tour guide. The tour was supposed to start at 10:00 but when we got there at 9:50 we didn’t see any tour guide. I called the phone number and when he answered he said he had started early because he thought everyone was there. Ooops! I guess he forgot to write me down when I called on the Sunday before. He ran back to the fountain to pick us up. We joined the rest of the group which was just one other couple. Having a small group was really nice. We kept passing other tour groups that had a lot of people and I was glad our group was small! It made it a lot more personalized and relaxed. I think maybe this is a newer tour company so there were fewer customers. We walked around Charleston for about 2 hours. The tour was very nice and the tour guide was great! We were able to see a lot of beautiful homes and churches. At the end of the tour he took a picture of us in front of the fountain at Waterfront Park and pointed us in the direction of the «touristy» shopping area. I would recommend this tour of Charleston to someone, like me, who wants a general overview of downtown Charleston. He also does a Civil War tour in the afternoon for history buffs, so you could also check that one out if you want a tour focused on history. He also does a later tour in the evenings called a «candlelight stroll.»
