The old fashioned is pricey but worth it. The bartender Sam is personable as well as each of the other staff. Great hangout. Great drinks. Great service. Great games. My favorite Charleston bar currently. You get what you pay for.

Beautiful bar with more bourbon and whiskey then you can imagine. Great food as well and fantastic bartenders. Plus, shuffle board, free video games, a juke box, and an indoor bocci court. Great unique cocktail menu too.

I wish I hadn’t heard anything about Mash before we had a chance to visit. It was hyped up so much that I was underwhelmed. It looks like Halls and Royal American had a baby! There is a jukebox and an old school arcade machine with free games! The décor is chill. To me it felt like the most expensive dive bar in Charleston. We did not have any bar snacks, we went strictly for drinks. They have a great bourbon selection with rare and tasty bourbons alike! They had an interesting cocktail menu but I will say that their wine was priced a little high. We will go back to try more bourbons and especially the food. As for this visit I didn’t see or experience anything that I couldn’t get at some other bar in the city.

Excellent whiskey selections and bar tenders that know their whiskey. Ask for recommendations!

Mash and I are becoming fast friends. It’s a beautiful bourbon bar tucked inside the historic cigar factory saddled up to it’s Mercantile counterpart. The feel of an upper-king-hot-spot without the lines, 22 year olds, or terrible parking… in fact they have plenty of parking in the evening cause the lot outside is basically empty. The bourbon and whiskey list is awe-inspiring and Sam makes a stunning Old Fashioned every time. The drink prices range from kind-of-high to money-means-nothing-to-me. If you’re not interested in dropping last months electric bill on a few drinks, the bartenders will be happy to recommend the best brown-water options that won’t break the bank. Or go for a Coors Banquet which is always on draught. Although they’re making classy cocktails, the shuffleboard, indoor bocce, and what seems to be my early 2000’s playlist constantly on repeat, everyone’s noses are on ground level instead of up in the air where you might expect them. Pro Tip: Take a first date to Mercantile. If it sucks, excuse yourself to the restroom and sneak into Mash for a night cap. They share bathrooms in the connected hallway. Then go back to your Tinderella or exit through Mash and call an Über.

A group of friends and I went to Charleston for my bf’s birthday this past weekend and stopped in at Mash on Sunday for some drinks and food. I’m not one to write reviews very often at all, but this place is AMAZING. Teddy and Elliot were probably the best bartenders I’ve ever had. Really sweet guys who had incredible knowledge on all the alcohol in the bar(and they had great taste in music! Parov Stelar!!). We chatted with them all night and they made us feel right at home. Had some Pappy Van Winkle which was incredible, and another Bourbon Elliot recommended called Bookers. It was a 25 year old batch and some of the best Bourbon I’ve had(and I’m not really a bourbon drinker). Not only were the drinks good, but the food was amazing! We got the Mash Burger and Croque Monsieur. Trust me when I say you WILLNOT be disappointed coming to this place. Thanks for a great time guys!

This is the perfect bar. Laid back, great music, great cocktails and delicious comfort foods. An upscale dive. Class without the attitude. Clean but rustic. The bartenders are great– Teddy and Elliot showed us a great time. Very happy I found this place. Can’t wait to come back. This will be a regular spot for me for sure

We went to MASH with a large group of friends for a birthday celebration. The atmosphere was really cool, dark with high-top wooden tables, a shuffleboard table, Bocce ball, and an old-school jukebox(limited selection music to maintain the low-key, old school vibes. You won’t find your typical alcohol selections(i.e. Absolut) but they have an extremely large whiskey selection, and a variety of local & nationwide brews. The bar staff are SUPER friendly, welcoming, and attentive. I would have given this 5 Stars but the food was terrible! Granted, we were the only ones who had ordered food in the bar, so maybe the kitchen was«out of touch» that night. We had toast with avocado that tasted like lemon juice, topped with a soupy crab salad, and an odd pomegranate garnish. The buffalo chips(I forget the title) were like scooping a spoonful of salt into your mouth. We picked at them, because we were starving, so we didn’t bother mentioning it that night. Perhaps we will try the food again — but certainly not those options!

A dark vibe, an old school juke box, some shuffle board and bocce available to play, and really fantastic cocktails! The bartenders here are fantastic — super nice and friendly, they remember faces, and they have great cocktail suggestions and cocktail making skills. Also, the food that we tried(tater tots + corned beef hash and the cauliflower) were relish! Also — plenty of parking! I really recommend!

Mash, is the black shirt wearing little brother to Mercantile. Put them together, and you have the dynamic duo of Mercantile & Mash. Just like it’s older brother, Mash is an absolutely beautiful space. Advertised as an American Whiskey and beer bar, you’re sure to get a higher end clientele than your local watering hole. I’m a serious Bourbon drinker, so hearing about this place from my buddy Tim K, Mash is right up my alley. Located in the back portion of Mercantile, with it’s on access door, walk in and your smack dab in the middle of the action. Bar to the right and Boccie Ball to your left. Just like a good mullet cut. Business in the front. Party in the back. Rule number one, don’t call the mixologist here a bar tender. These guys are serious experts that take pride in their work. With a dizzying amount of high quality ingredients in their arsenal, these guys stand ready to make you the absolutely best drink you’ll ever have. I opted for the Old Fashioned made with Four Roses. I watched the mixologist craft my drink with surgeon skill and precision. Measure this, dash of that. Dropper here and orange oil rim there. My first taste of my drink literally took my breath away, it was THATGOOD. I watched with my jaw on the floor as the mixologist made several other specialty cocktails. I have to succumb, there is a true mastery of skills to make drinks this well. They also sell food freshly prepared by the Mercantile kitchen next door. Mash offers several fun things to do while you sit and sip. They have an indoor Boccie Ball court. Table top shuffle board and an arcade game by the door with several different old school games. I watched a girl play Frogger for at least 45 minutes Saturday night. Ohh!, ohh! They also have an old school juke box that you don’t have to put money in. You just walk up and play songs. So cool! — While this place JUST opened, it’s already trending up to be the hottest new place to hang. The ooooonnnnlllyyyy downside is that it’s pretty pricey. Mu Old Fashion was $ 15. Yikes! Don’t get me wrong. You can have local craft beer here as well, but it can certainly hurt the bank if you spend a lot of time drinking here.

When enterig Mash, you enter an older era. You might be able to compare it to Cocktail Club since it’s the management. Amazing staff… Extended drinks list AND Bocce Ball((not sure on the spelling) More to come!
