Great food & drinks. I had the fish Taos and they were delicious the atmosphere is pretty cool, you can tell they definitely put a lot of design work into it!

This place would have gotten 5 stars except they got rid of the fries and Mac and cheese! Two of the best things I’ve ever eaten. So disappointing. I still really like the food though. Please bring back these delightful morsels and you’ll make some people very happy.

We had brunch at Prohibition on a Sunday. We had reservations but decided to sit at the bar, and after checking in were notified that Prohibition had cancelled our reservations on Open Table? Kind of strange, but I don’t think it affected our ratings or anything. Bloody Marys were good & spicy & reasonably priced. The BF wanted something lighter and ordered the cured salmon plate, which he liked quite a bit. I think the caviar crème fraîche(caviar is MIXEDIN) threw him a bit, but it was tasty. I had the duck confit hash, which was also very good. Duck was perfectly cooked, hollandaise was nice. My one criticism was the«coddled egg». Why? The yolk was nice and runny, but the white — forgive me — was the consistency of snot. I ate around it. I don’t understand why a «coddled» egg would be preferred to a gently poached egg. Undercooked whites are not attractive nor tasty. Still, service was good(minus the bar back who kept talking about how crazy the night before had been, how they had to kick people out at 3:30 am… then it was 4 am to a different bar patron… and 4:30 am to the third), atmosphere was nice & relaxed, and food was decent.

This was a great place for an after dinner drink. Our bartender was so sweet and made sure we had drinks in our hand. I got a specialty Moscow mule and it was delicious. They had a salsa band and great atmosphere.

Tried to go here for a drink on the afternoon of 2⁄14. Sat at the bar for over 30 minutes without even a glance from the bartender. Not even a «Hey, we’re a bit busy, I’ll get to you in a bit». Can’t say I’ll be back anytime soon, but the cocktail menu looked fun.

Very upbeat — If you’re looking for a bar that you can let loose and cut a rug on King Street at, look no further. The music and atmosphere in the main room all gear towards the main floor — while there’s another bar and patio to cool off in the back. All in all this is a great bar to go if you’re looking to have a fun night with a few friends and do some dancing. It is loud, so would not recommend going here if you’re trying to dial it back and relax.

The place is really noisy. Acoustics are terrible for talking. Mood is all bar. A band plays Saturday nights and music blares otherwise. Lighting isn’t great either. But tin roof is appealing. And the food and drinks are great A simple burger was perfectly done and delicious. The roasted chicken is unlike any other version of it you’ve seen elsewhere. Chicken is cut into small sections and adorned with a rice and vegetable sauce. It really blows you away.

Sunday night we had a reservation at The Ordinary late-ish, so we wanted to stop by somewhere nearby to have pre-dinner drink. Unilocal let me to Prohibition, caddy corner from our dinner spot. We arrived and the bar was completely full! It luckily cleared out, but good for them. The décor is really fun, well done and not too over-the-top. They had like a swing dancing party in the back of the place, and most of the tables were filled up with young-ish people enjoying food and drinks. We each got one drink and they were good, nothing amazing. Same with the service. Fine, but not particularly charming or dynamic. After finishing our drinks we actually had time to get another one, but neither of us really felt like sticking around. Can’t really explain it, it was just lacking an energy. But it was Sunday night, Im sure this place is hopping on weekend nights!

My husband and I stumbled across Prohibition on our first night in Charleston and thought we’d give it a try. The inside is like a dive meets an upscale bar, it’s hard to describe, but I found it cozy and inviting. They had a decent wine list as well as some really interesting cocktails. I had some delicious bubbly and my husband had a few of the bacon maple old fashioneds. He really liked his drinks, however one of them had a slightly«off» flavor. We think that one had an olive in it or something instead of a cherry. But he pushed through like a champ and ordered another, which was perfect. The best part of our night here was the live band. I’m not usually a live music at a bar kind of person but this band was just awesome. They played everything from current hits to old favorites and had the bar really going. Everyone was laughing and singing along. We sat here for hours and got lost in the drinks and music – it was a real night of southern charm.

Was stayin down the street at Hyatt House, and according to Unilocal reviews, this was the highest rated place in the shortest walking distance to my hotel. The space was really well-done in rustic /modern with good use of wood and metal; there were candles on the waist-height tables, which made for a really cozy vibe. They tout there drinks just as much as they tout their food, so half the space was occupied by a bar — though there was noise, it wasn’t at an obnoxious level, and contributed to the energy of the place in a good way. I had gone online and was intrigued by this menu item/description — Braised Pork Belly($ 14) — charred plums, pickled shishito peppers, cornbread So, this dish came with quite a few pieces of pork belly; there was a good ration of the complementary ingredients, and I really liked the shishitos, since they provided a good flavor combo with the pork. Now, instead of the plums that they mention on the web, I *think* that they served it with peaches instead. In my humble opinion, they weren’t quite as ripe as I woulda preferred, and could’ve benefitted from some grilling in some sugar or honey. The pieces of cornbread really balanced out the dish, and it really is best if you combine a little bit of all the ingredients into the same bite! In addition, I ordered dessert, but I can’t remember exactly what it was — except that it was three scoops of vanilla ice cream with(i think) graham cracker crumbs. On first glance, there didn’t seem to be much of the crumbs — but you gotta dig deeper for a big ol’ pile on the bottom! Chris(the leaner one), my host and server, was concise, precise, and was attentive to detail. He actually brought me a complimentary appetizer — Pork Rinds, with a giant dollop of Blue Cheese tucked inside; drizzled with honey. The flavor profile on this dish really fell into place here. It was all super good, and I didn’t even have any of the«Hooch»! All well-worth the money for the quality — and having been to Charleston for the first time, this was a good reflection of what this city is all about — good food, good drink, and really good times.

If you want to find parking, you need to come here early; otherwise you are going to pay $ 10 valet parking. The food was pretty decent in taste but the portion was extremely small for its price. The menu felt a bit limited.

Went there for happy hour which ended at 7. Not only the drinks were outstanding, they’d was surprisingly excellent. The happy hour deal was excellent. The HH fish taco was a good deal and excellent! The house made chacuterie plate was phenomenal because it included unique things such as duck prosciutto, cured beef tongue, homemade pickled green beans. The HH offers half priced drinks which was great. The oysters were fine, go somewhere else for oysters The ambiance is nice. Nice bar. Free dance lesson at 7.

Very much enjoyed a quick, but delicious and fun dinner with my girlfriend while on vacation in charleston in October. We had reservations and were seated promptly upon our arrival. the service was attentive but not obtrusive and the waiter demonstrated a good understanding of the menu. We both ordered cocktails — I had the mule which was top notch — and couldn’t have been more pleased! We determined with input from our server that sharing some of the smaller dishes would be a good bet and it was! We loved the memphis dry rub wings, French fries, fish tacos and the heirloom tomatoes. The atmosphere was also very enjoyable as the up tempo and fun vibes really fit the space! Would absolutely go back to prohibition upon our return to the city!

I would just like to thank Prohibition for my new-found obsession with the Moscow Mule(mint infused Russian Standard vodka, ginger beer, lime juice). It wasn’t even the drink I ordered but I tried it and then I wanted to steal the drink from my husband. The drink I did order, the Strawberry Smash(Maker’s Mark, strawberry, lemon, sugar, mint), was quite good but there is just something about that drink in a copper mug. Can’t wait to go back for more!

My friend dragged me back to this place the very next night. I found out they had free swing lessons at 630. I had so much fun… wish I lived in Charleston to do this every week. Ian took care of us and made us great drinks. He creates his own bitters for the drinks he makes which I found super cool. The bartenders here are so knowledgeable and I learned soooo much just by talking to them. There is a nice outdoor area that I found out about. I love this place just do yourself a favor and stop by. :)

Ok, so, the first time we went it was really solid, especially the Huevos Rancheros. This time it was ok but not nearly as good as the first time. The sausage was a bit dried out, it was less spicy, just not as good as the first time. The hash brown side was ok, not great, not bad. The French toast was on point though, definitely not your average French toast. It was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The flavor had depth beyond the sugary-sweetness of the syrup, almost kind of nutty.

We walked by this place so many times and I’m so happy that we finally stopped in for a drink! The inside is seriously cool — The décor was very well thought out and the layout is really great too — we went in with a group of 10 and there was plenty of room for us. The bartenders were extremely friendly — I wasn’t in the mood for any type of a crazy drink, and I told the bartender that I was in the mood for champagne — so he made me a drink with champagne, gin, and lemon juice, a french 75, and it was awesome! Definitely one of my new favorite drinks. I would highly recommend coming in here to hang out for a drink.

Prohibition is unique in that it really does attempt to stick with what would be a Charleston prohibition era bar not only in atmosphere but in food as well. Some of their foods are not only good but unique as well, such as their Bevan Rock Oysters done with a fermented garlic truffle oil, their Foie Gras with pickled pecans and beets or their Duck Confit hash. I stop by here for their Moscow Mule, a good combination of mint, vodka, ginger beer and lime juice served up in a traditional copper mug. Though I don’t think their Moscow Mule is equal to those served at nearby Rarebit, The service is good, the crowd is always friendly, eager to enter into bar room conversation over drinks and especially pleasant to out of town tourists. Indeed, it’s one of my fav place in Charleston for lunch, brunch, dinner or to just grab a bite to eat. I should also mention that they have a fish of the day based upon market price, always slapping fresh as can be and with which they always do a good preparation.

Loved the atmosphere of this place! Immediately when you walk in you are welcomed with a live jazz/swing band, dark rustic décor, and tons of alcohol lining the shelves. Definitely feels like the 20s(or what I think the 20s would feel like!). As we waited to get seated our bartender whipped us up some tasty drinks. We sat in the back porch room where it was much quieter, but couldn’t really hear the band. The back has bar top tables, another bar, and TVs. Our waitress was nice and attentive. We ordered the ceviche to start with, and I got the Carolina roll and my husband ordered the Duck Hash. The ceviche was delicious and fresh. I was disappointed in the Carolina roll. It was actually really tiny! The roll itself was the size of a dinner roll and it had shrimp and crab in it but it wasn’t meaty at all. I felt for the price($ 15) it would be a bit bigger than that. I was still hungry so I helped at my husband’s duck hash to fill me up(it was really filling bc it had tons of potatoes in it). I mean, I had a good time at Prohibition, but I wish I had a better meal experience. Maybe next time?
