I never thought I’d find myself writing a 5 star review about a plumbing company, but here I am. From the start everything was smooth sailing. The receptionist was very nice and explained the process they use; Mr. Rooter comes out, listens to the problem, looks at the job, and gives you a quote. If you have the work done it’s that cost and if you don’t then it’s a $ 35 fee(my guess this is based on your location.) I was also told Mr. Rooter could come by in just a few hours, but once we had finished booking I was informed one of the plumbers could arrive in 30 minutes. Mr. Rooter, aka Tony, arrived 33 minutes later; I appreciate accurate ETA’s. He was dressed in uniform, shirt tucked in and you’d never known he’d already been on jobs that day. He wanted to diagnose the sewage problem, not just snake it and run like the other plumbers the rental company had hired just weeks before. He quickly found the cause of the problem; roots were growing in the line. He didn’t mind that I needed to take pictures to document the findings and was nice to hold the camera steady while I photographed. With his jokes, Tony made light of the unfortunate reason he had to be there; sewage. He was eager to help and worked hard. He had a very«can-do» attitude and was patient in answering questions. Tony provided the rental company with an estimate to crack open the floor and fix the pipe and bless him, he had to not only deal with me, but the rental company kept calling him for more details as well. He’s a very laid back guy thankfully. He had the floor busted up, new pipe piece fitted and was pouring cement within a few hours. He’s very tidy while he works, which is good because he only had an area of about 5ft by 5ft to work in. A company is only as good as their employees and their work, if all of them are like Tony Mr. Rooter will be in business a long time.

My kitchen sink would not drain. I had tried to use Liquid Plumber and other liquids to unclog the drain and nothing worked. I called The Handy Man connection out to my home and they were unable to unclog the drain and told me that I needed a plumber. I found Mr. Rooter and they came out and provided me with a free estimate and fixed the problem on the spot within a matter of minutes. I was SORELIEVED. It is not easy living with a kitchen sink that won’t drain!!! Thanks Mr. Rooter!

Called Mr. Rooter on a sunday when the pilot on my 7 year old hot water heater wouldn’t light. After telling me they would charge me $ 45 to come out to Johns Island, we scheduled the appointment(that was fine with me; it was Sunday, and outside of their service area). The plumber was nice and seemed professional… HOWEVER…he spent 10mins in my attic looking at the pilot light. When he came down, he said he was able to light the pilot, but we needed a new hot water heater. He failed to diagnose any particular problem, or explain the cause as to why our water heater was failing. He charged me $ 98 for relighting the pilot, and quoted me almost $ 1500 for a new one. On Monday, I called several other plumbers to price out water heaters(fyi, the bids ranged from $ 975-$ 1198). One, Keystone plumbing, offered to come out and give me a free estimate. Keystone spent over an hour at my house, found a leaking hose at the top, and a faulty thermocoupler. When it was all said and done, I spent roughly $ 300 for the parts and labor for Keystone to fix my water heater. My boyfriend called Mr. Rooter to tell them the situation. I’m giving them 2 stars instead of 1, because when the owner saw the invoice from Keystone he refunded our $ 98. I will call Keystone Plumbing with my future needs since they didn’t charge me $ 98 to #1: Not fix the problem, and #2: try to sell me an overpriced water heater that I didn’t need.
