My first time at this particular Ruth Cris Steak House. We had the tomahawk steak medium rare perfectly cooked. With creamed spinach and baked potato. The restaurant is warm, friendly and beautifully appointed. The staff is pleasant and attentive. Did I mention the food was… Delicious. If you are looking for a good steak with all the trimmings. Come Here…

To have a lunch that was so wonderful(and with someone else paying for it) was my introduction to the local venue although like most I have visit Ruth’s Chris Steak House and enjoyed the heck out of it. Again, even at lunch, they did not fall short in any aspect of the dining experience.

I have been a repeat customer of Ruth Chris for over 20 years. My wife and I dined for the first time at the Charleston location Sat night and had to leave after two attempts at our meal. First, we ordered the T bone medium rare, it came out well done. About ten minutes later they brought out the second steak which we immediately noticed had a sour smell to it. To our shock, the steak was bad, almost rancid. The young manager was very polite and noticed the smell as well. At this point we decided to leave. This is not the typical RC experience and judging from the other reviews, perhaps just a fluke. I will continue to frequent other RC locations but no second chance for this one. Too many other options in Charleston.

Ruth’s does it again. Service was perfect, meal was cooked to perfection, the restaurant has a great Charleston ambiance. The only thing that’s terrible is the fact there are so many food snobs in Charleston that hate this place cause it’s a «chain.» Get over it. In a blind taste test people would most likely pick Ruth’s over the competition. If you’re a fan of great steaks and great service — go on down to Ruth’s.

Had dinner tonight and the food was fantastic. My mother had the full course and loved it, I took most of mine to go but did enjoy the buffalo shrimp. Keith was our waiter even though he did a decent job and was a server, he didn’t seem to upbeat to be there. I really like the convenience so I highly recommend this place for the food and serving cut to the chase.

I will let the readers make their own conclusions. My kids wanted to take me to a nice early birthday dinner this past sunday. We made a reservation for 6 at 2 pm. The Good — The food was excellent. The lobster mac and cheese ‘side’ order was enough for 1 person or 2 to have as a full mea. l The Bad– The sign out front states to pull around to the French Quarter Inn for complimentary Free parking. When we pulled up the parking attendant said nicely, they do not do valet parking, free or paid for the lunch. The restaurant is attached to the hotel. I was surprised and then i asked him to pull out the SUV in front of me so I could pull through, and I guess I would find another restaurant for lunch. Well, this guy was a real gentleman, and said, well I do not want you to miss the reservation, I will just park your car. He was very nice, but if you are going to pay for a 400 dollar early dinner, parking should be included. Second the restaurant was totally empty except for one nice couple eating. Well, the maitre ‘d sits my family of 6 with 4 kids, one 8 years old at the table right next to this couple. I felt really bad, that my rowdy kids would ruin this couple’s lunch so I asked to move us to any of the EVERYOTHER tables available in the restaurant. She tells me she can push 2 tables next to the bar for us. Next to the bar??? The remainder of the dining room was empty. My teenager was embarrassed so we just sat in the original seat. Lastly, for the lunch and the high cost meal, they do NOT serve mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, or creamed spinach with lunch. Well, these are the sides my family looks forward too when we treat once or twice a year to a $$$ steak dinner. What a disappointment. In my humble opinion these items should at least be offered at 2 pm on a sunday, when many families have an early Sunday ‘dinner’. So, like I said, the actual food was awesome, but for the experience above I will not return and will return to other steakhouses in downtown Charleston.

Went there for lunch, sat at the Bar. What a nice place. The bartender was very friendly and informative. The Burgers are to die for. The chicken is fresh and tasty. They have Art on the ceiling! Go figure. A nice place sit and watch the carriages go by. And don’t worry, the prices are very competitive. For a chain, this has to be one of the best. The food is fresh and does not change from store to store, having been in many. Frank G

Bryan is server ‘extraordinaire ! Steak truly melts upon touching your tongue. Lee enjoyed seafood gumbo prior to our main entrée. The steamed broccoli was perfection. Glasses of champagne and card upon our seating was the beginning of a phonominal dining experience. John St. John, General Manager, has the newest addition to Charlestons’ fine dining favorites! Great in every way!

We came here to celebrate my dad’s birthday and everything was excellent. From the moment we walked in everyone was warm and welcoming, from the hostess to the manager. Our server Jaela was incredibly attentive and friendly. As for the food, everyone’s steaks were cooked perfectly. The lamb chops were also delicious. The side standouts were the sweet potato casserole and gumbo! We were too stuffed to get individual desserts but ended up splitting the chocolate mousse cheesecake and chocolate sin cake among the table. All in all, everyone enjoyed it and most importantly my dad enjoyed the surprise dinner gathering.

Every time we eat at Ruth’s Chris we expect the best and that is exactly what we received tonight. Valet parking worked perfect on a busy night on Market Street. We both ordered the filet and the waitress even made mine into a larger steak because it was part of a special and it saved us money. The salad was perfect. We ordered asparagus and mashed potatoes and they were close to perfect. The steak was perfectly cooked and the waitress was very knowledgable. We will be back!

I like good food and more importantly I like a good deal. Well let me tell you based on their Happy hour specials and the quality of the food this place gets a 5th and elusive star from me. Great deal on drinks and half priced items from 4 – 6:30 in the bar area. People this is Ruth Chris which is pricey especially when using your own credit card and not a business card! Burger with fries $ 8, Lamb Chops also $ 8. Limited HH specials but surely a variety to please the most discriminant palette. They also offer signature cocktails and a couple of beer and wine choices all at affordable prices. Great downtown location across from the market and within walking distance to the waterfront park. Their Happy Hour is a home run! Server was helpful and pleased we were there to take advantage of happy hour. Plenty of tables and bar stools when we git there at 4:30 so I’m guessing word hasn’t gotten out yet about this fabulous deal.

Fantastic! The menu prices are not for the faint of heart BUT this is the place you want to go for that really special occasion or a time to just really treat yourself to something special. I got the 6 oz filet with lobster tail(Oscar style). It was great! My hubby splurges and got the BONEINFILET… OUTOFTHISWORLD! Even though they brought a fancy steak knife box for him to select his weapon of choice, he literally was able to cut the steak with his fork. I have never had anything so mouth watering. And Jennifer– our server was very attentive and took great care of us. Thanks for a spectacular date night Ruth’s Chris!

Lively bar, great service, and delicious steak made for a winning combination! The acoustical ceiling artwork is such a neat(and functional) touch. Expectations exceeded… not your average steak house.

I’ve eaten at numerous Ruth’s Chris locations, from Hawaii to Washington, DC and have eagerly been awaiting opening of the Charleston location since hearing the chain was scoping locations three years ago. Online reservations were easy and we booked during first week of restaurant’s opening which also happened to coincide with my birthday. The space is enormous and designed with a fun and modern flare. Unfortunately, we were seated in the event room right beside a 100″ TV… very romantic! My husband selected the Cowboy cut ribeye at the staff’s recommendation and I ordered the filet mignon. Granted, you can never go wrong with the filet and it arrived in all of the expected R. C’s glory, sizzling in buttery ecstasy on the plate. It was cooked perfectly! Unfortunately, this was the only thing which met the standard compared to other R. C’s we’ve dined at and other comparable steakhouses in Charleston. The select Cowboy cut was at least 25% gristle. The side of au gratin potatoes were hard and undercooked. We went ahead and ate them bc didn’t have a near opportunity to tell wait staff, but did mention it as our plates were taken to which waitress stated this was not the first time the kitchen received complaints of the undercooked dish. We did not order dessert because we were stuffed, but I was a little disappointed the waitress didn’t offer a complimentary offering for my birthday or pack one to go with us. Please don’t think I’m being cheap in expecting a complimentary celebration dessert. We spent almost $ 200 on food, drinks, and tip. At this level, I was shocked that they didn’t at least remove the potatoes from our bill. I’m sure the restaurant will be popular with tourists and survive on name recognition, but they’re going to have to step up the game to Charleston’s culinary competition of expected service. This is not the Myrtle Beach location!

Ruth’s Chris Steak House — Charleston is such a great restaurant and highly recommended! The location is hard to beat, as it’s downtown in the heart of Charleston near the markets. Highlights included: their amazing steak, the interior design/ambience, their cocktail menu — I tried many different ones — all so good, and more. In their bar area(seriously, check out their cocktail menu), they have paintings from local artists on the ceiling, which is so fun. Also, the staff were super friendly and attentive, too. Can’t wait to go back on my next visit to Charleston!

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at the Ruth’s Chris location in Charleston. I attended the establishment within the first week of the grand opening, so naturally I expected to have some speed bumps in service. The opposite was true, our service was spot on. We were served by Matthew, he presented us with the wine list(which was on an iPad) and guided us through it to make it as seamless as possible considering that we had never ordered wine this way before. His wine suggestions where very relevant and influential considering our price range and meal choices. When it came time to order food, Matthew was as informative as one can be regarding the menu. He chatted with us about the origins of the company, as well as the origins of the beef that we ordered. The fact that our waiter spent so much time talking to us about the company made me feel more important as a guest.(Hats off the the training team). My friends and I ended up ordering the most popular menu items so that we could get an understanding of what the brand had to offer. I ordered the Bone-in NY strip Oscar style. It was one of the most delicious steaks I’ve ever had. The Oscar was perfect, the hollandaise wasn’t too buttery and the crab was plentiful enough to be worth the extra cost. All of it was melt in your mouth. My side was the lobster mac n’ cheese. It was delicious and can be shared by three or more. A friend of mine ordered the Tomahawk steak. If you are unaware this is a 40 oz bone-in steak that is only offered in select Ruth’s Chris locations. When he ordered it, it seemed like every employee in the restaurant laughed. He ended up eating the entire 40 oz steak, becoming the first patron of the Charleston location to finish the entire steak.(Every single employee congratulated him on his way out). Either way he said it was the best steak he’s ever had, the manager even came to our table to congratulate him for concurring their most extraordinary cut of beef. Another bonus was the recognition that a person at our table had just been accepted into medical school.(Which was the original reason for us celebrating this evening). He was treated with a congratulatory chocolate cheesecake on the house. Who else does that? Bottom line is I had a great meal, a great bottle of wine, and a great time at the Ruth’s Chris on market street. Thanks Matt!
