Sakura is kind of expensive for the quality of food they serve. The flavor profiles aren’t really anything you couldn’t find at an Asian buffet. I would recommend going for their sushi if you wanted something slightly better than Harris-Teeter sushi, but I wouldn’t go there if you’re expecting out-of-this-world Asian food. Would I go back? Maybe, but only because Charleston doesn’t really have amazing selections for Asian food and their location is close to where I live. You might have better luck(and pay less) with Panda Palace if you want something simple like General Tso’s chicken.

Bad experience all around. Service was unpleasant and we were only people there. General Tso chicken was completely unidentifiable meat with tasteless sauce, crab wontons were just fried crispies with nothing in it and hibachi with sauce was nothing to recommend. Will never go back.

I love this place! Great sushi with tons of options. Kind of a weird location in a strip mall type of area so it can be easily overlooked but do yourself a favor and try it out. Very reasonable prices as well.

Delivery driver showed up talking on a cell phone and didn’t even ask if I needed change. He snatched the money from my hand and handed over the food, then walked away. My general tsos tasted like it had been deep fried with shrimp-extreme seafood flavor. Will not be ordering from here again! There are SO many other better options in West Ashley!

Food was good but delivery driver was very rude! When he called he cursed at my husband and then tried to catch attitude at the door! Horrible! I’ll never be ordering for delivery again.

Me and my husband when to Sakura for Mother’s Day. And since it was mothers Day we wanted to try something new, so It was our first experience in Sakura. The service was excellent, the food was okay, I ordered it the dragon roll and a spicy tuna roll. My husband ordered it the hibachi filet mignon, the white sauce is one of the best in town, they also have duck sauce which most Japanese restaurant don’t have. It is my first experience but it would not be my last.

Was going down Ashley river rd and saw Sakura and gave it a try. sat at the sushi bar and got the hibachi chicken lunch and few pieces of sushi. Food/Price are average and not out of my exception. Their atmosphere are ok but they do have a private room to fit about 6−8(including some kids). May give them another try sometime if I happen to pass by again.

We just ate a Sakura for the second time and I was not very impressed. One thing I don’t like about«fast food» chinese restuarants is the cheap yellow rice they try to pass for fried rice. At a nicer sit down asian restaurant I expect fried rice that is made in house. Nothing disappoints more than seeing that gross yellow rice come out on the plate at Sakura. The rest of my meal was mediocre. I ordered the Kun Pao Chicken and the boyfriend ordered the Pepper Steak. The food was good but oddly heated. It seemed as though it may have been microwaved. Some bites were piping hot like right off the stove and some bites were literally cold. It was if they microwaved the dish and didn’t give it a good stir. We couldnt’ remember what exactly it was we didn’t like about the first time we ate here, but two mediorce times are enough for me.

I think this is one of West Ashley’s best kept secrets for fresh sushi. They have so many choices and I can honestly say there isn’t one I’ve tried that I didn’t like. Your food is delivered fast and the wait staff is very attentive. I’ve never waited long for a table(like I said best kept secret) or my food. My favorite roll has to be the Ichiban: I order it on every visit along with one of their other signature rolls. I have to give a big thank you to my boyfriend who turned me on to Sakura last year. Thank you baby this is a definite keeper in my list of restaurants! Do yourself a favor and give them a try you won’t regret it.

Five stars all the way! I went there last night hoping to find a good sushi place and boy did I find it! Started with the hibachi soup which wasn’t my favorite but the crab wontons made up for it! You get about 8 wontons which are worth your buck. My boyfriend and I spilt the spicy yellow tail roll which was delicious! And I got the angel roll which was amazing! Had delicious lobster in the roll and topped with loads of crab!!! Can not wait to go back!!! Still dreaming about it:)

First, I have only eaten here this one time and almost did not go because of the negative Unilocal on it. So, a friend visiting town was adamant that we go here to meet a group and we got there and ate in the back private low-sitting table. Very cool. We had 6 of us and tried all kinds of stuff. Started with edamami(spelling) and Hot Sake! Perfect. Then followed with Sushi. The Hoss was a recommended one on Unilocal page so I tried it. It was fantastic. And a heaping portion. The others had been there often and most got this other one(can’t remember name) but it was great as well. Ask for the eel sauce and the white sauce. The folks with me knew that and the eel sauce sounded yucky but they were spot on. The combo really helped out everything. My wife actually got some hibachi vegetarian meal and it was fantastic as well. I am not a Sake expert but loved the inexpensive hot sake which we did several and it was only $ 6 per large. Waitress separated checks with no issues. I was glad to have gone with some experts to this location to really find out this is a diamond in the rough. Our guests were from Beaufort, Vegas, Australia, and local and only the Australian did not know of this place. And afterwards she was also enthusiastic about it. So, great, generous portion, affordable Sushi. This is now my number one Sushi spot in Charleston.

Great lunch specials. includes soup, salad, and choice of sushi rolls. Clean, quick, and good sushi. Even though it’s never crowded, lunch menu is very worth it ! Not that many places West Ashley to get sushi.

Can’t remember the last time I left sushi uneaten. Tonight, there was a bounty. There’s a tacit understanding that sushi joints might put mayonnaise in their spicy tuna concoction, but never has the taste of Hellmann’s been so pronounced. I’d normally not bother rating a place of this caliber that was visited blindly on a whim. But seeing as though my vote represents 20% of their total grade at the time of review, anything I can do to persuade others to look elsewhere seems like an act in the service of good.

Delicious sushi… try the Hoss roll! Selection of wine and sake not great, but the sushi is outstanding!

So, they passed the two visit test and both times were great! This place is a hidden gem in a strip mall. Not fancy at all, relaxed atmosphere with great sushi and wonderful hibachi dinners. This place is a great value. I highly recommend the gizmo roll and dynamite roll. They have a nice selection of sushi rolls, too.

Visiting Charleston on a short stay. Pulled up Unilocal and found Sakura. Only had one review, but it sounded good. I would agree. I had the sashimi platter and we split a few rolls. ALOT of Sashimi! As usual I ordered to much. the fish was fresh and task. Rolls were good. I would definately recommend

— Sakura is no longer in business — I’m surprised I haven’t written about Sakura yet. Of all the Summerville — Charleston sushi joints I’ve eaten at, this is my FAVORITE! It’s become my go to sushi place, even after the opening of Bushido 5 minutes away.(And Bushido is good, but it is really no Sakura). I love Sakura because aside from the consistently fresh taste, they think outside of the box and have a variety of specials that you don’t see elsewhere. If you love spicy tuna, you have like 15 spicy options here and several different tunas, no kidding! I would love to have cucumber wrapped rolls in the future. So I also tried Chirashi here, raw fish slices on seasoned rice. The pieces are long and thick, and I had no taste issues, but I really over estimated my love for sashimi and it was huge mouthfuls of raw fish — not for me!
