Dinner was incredible– but pricey. The filet was awesome– mashed potatoes really good. The swordfish special was delicious — would love to go again for lunch!

Delicious food and attentive staff. We went here on a Monday night and were impressed with everything. The steak was delicious, my wife had the Mahi Mahi which was also quite good. The dessert… All I can say is get he banana cream pie. So good!

My friends and I stopped in for lunch after being referred to SNOB. We arrived around 1:15 on a Friday afternoon. There was a cruise ship in port, so it was pretty busy in the area. Surprisingly, they were able to seat us after about a 10 minute wait. Our server Matt was a great server. He could tell that we had some serious craft beer drinkers in the group and gave us some tips on beer drinking apps and breweries in the area. He was really attentive and when one person in our group ordered the veggie sandwich with no cheese, he came back to ask her if she wanted to nix the pesto since there was cheese in the pesto. Very on top of things Matt! We were served piping hot cornbread that was delicious. And it was much appreciated because we waited… and waited… and waited for our meals. That was really one of the reasons why I did not give the restaurant 5 stars. Maybe it is because we are in the South and things are just slow? I ordered the grilled trout. Overall I think my meal was good. It was a little under-seasoned and I had to add a lot of salt and pepper. But the fish was cooked well and the rice/bok choy/mushroom on the side was excellent. I also ordered a side of grits. I was disappointed. They were soooo bland that even salt and pepper added could not save it. My friend got the shrimp and grits. He liked them but said they were really spicy. My other friends all got the veggie sandwich and said it was good. Overall, a great experience at SNOB. I would recommend it!

Basis for my starred ratings(which skews heavily to the food or drink): 1 star: Never again. 2 stars: Poor food, poor experience, extraordinary measures in order for me to come back. 3 stars: Average, nothing really special, nothing particularly bad. 4 stars: Very good, would definitely return. 5 stars: A favorite, one of the best. This was our last meal before leaving Charleston and far from the acronym suggests, as it was with everyone we met in the city, the service was friendly and efficient. So came here for brunch and we were probably still full from all the food we had from previous days. Wife got the trout and I got the fried chicken livers. Both dishes were good, perhaps just a little heavy. I know what I was getting myself in to when I ordered the chicken livers — which were quite good — but the addition of the grits and the pepper relish made it a liiiiitle bit heavy handed. Same for my wife’s trout — with such a great, delicate fish, could have used a little more finesse. But all in all, we had a very respectable meal. This review is actually more like 3.5 stars, but I’m going to show it as a 4 given the friendliness of service and above average food.

SNOB is a great lunch spot downtown. It’s nice, but not swanky, great food and priced well. It recently was bought out by the Hall family who own the infamous Halls. SNOB offers a variety of options, including an express lunch menu that comes with a daily entrée served with soup or salad & coffee or iced tea for $ 13. I went the other day and regretfully did not take a picture of one of the best meals I’ve had in a while: Pan Seared Swordfish on top of Carolina Gold rice middlins. It also had charred radicchio & oyster mushrooms, plum glaze, and finished with a shishito relish. It was insanely good. I found out that middlins are cracked rice with a sort of crunchy texture, although mine were more the texture of grits. Either way it was SOGOOD. I am going to stalk their menu until I find it again and run down and order two — one for lunch, one for dinner. No shame.

Pretty unimpressive, though in full disclosure, I was pretty unimpressed with all food in Charleston that called itself«lowcountry» cuisine. In my opinion it’s just not that good(if it was, you would be able to find it somewhere in the world besides here). It’s like they took food from New Orleans and classic Southern cuisine and made a crappy combination of the two. Had dinner here in May 2016. Had a reservation and the place was packed. The ambience can best be described as «rich southern trying to be hip». Service was mediocre, granted we were only here once and maybe our waitress was bad, but she was not very attentive and took about 20 minutes before we even got a drink order in. Food was bland and expensive. Ordered a tamale app which was stupid, this is not a place to order a freaking tamale. The burrata app was good, but not sure how this fits with«lowcountry» food. The BBQ tuna was not good, a perfectly good piece of tuna smothered in what tasted like grocery store BBQ sauce. The duck entrée was fine, duck was well cooked but sauce was not special. I wanted to like it, but maybe lowcountry food is just not for me.

Posted pic of empty table-as no sign of entrees 1 hr and 20 mins into meal. What was served when served was fine –pork chop, 2 cheese plates, tamale appetizer, veggie plate — but certainly not worth that kind of wait. Staff feebly offered dessert, but who knew how long that would take, so we passed. Would have been better to comp us all a glass of wine 50 mins in… Front needs to handle kitchen screw-ups with more rapid and gracious attention. Can’t recommend. Too many better options at this price point.

We had whole family here for dinner and wonder from head to toe. Great service, everyone’s food was on point and we shared it all and relaxed yet refined atmosphere. I started with the seasonal bisque and then the local mahi. Both good. We also had duck, pork chop, quail and a nice carpaccio to start. I thought duck was best of the night but all good. Wine list is reasonable and desserts finished it all off. So many good places in C town… But this one still stands tall.

Great trout dish(I believe they keep the menu seasonal, so it might not be on the menu when you get there) and prompt, attentive service. Nothing to write home about, but the quality of the dishes and experience earn it a 3 stars.

This was one of my absolute must-eat places I wanted to try during my road trip. It lived up to the hype and was one of the best meals I had going through the Carolinas and northern Georgia. Make reservations! So many obviously tourists walked in only to find the wait would be 30 – 45 minutes and this was towards the end of lunchtime. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It’s in downtown in a well-preserved building. The seats were packed. They have lunch express specials for about $ 12 and feature the entrée of the day, salad or soup, and coffee or iced tea. I decided to splurge and get the Maverick Shrimp and Grits because I was in the South! This is one of their most popular dishes and I could see why. It was served with local grits, ham, sausage, and shrimp. Very rich and tasty. The service was excellent. All of the waiters are classily attired. Heavy silverware and cloth napkins. The clientele during a weekday lunch was business people, ladies who lunch, tourists. Also, they have nice restrooms with airplane door handles so you can clearly tell whether occupied or vacant. Dressy casual attire please. Don’t look like the stereotypical tourist. Show some respect!

SNOB was not snobby. SNOB was Soulful Nice Ongoing Bites, since we just kept eating. Being a Yankee and dining out with a conquistador may not have been a perfect combination for a couple dining in town, be that whole civil war thing and the fact the Spaniards bombarded the shores of Charleston for over a hundred years from 1663, but hey, it’s Sunday and having eaten here on Saturday night we are both still alive, still full from a great meal. Yes, no poison at all. Wait, poison yes, the cocktails… they were good not great, but there was a fully stocked bar for whatever you need. Plenty of spirits, both alcoholic and otherwise.

We had lunch here today(hubby, 7 year old daughter and myself). We were sat at a table near the open kitchen so we could watch what was going on in the kitchen. I was surprised how quiet the kitchen was… Obviously a well oiled machine. Exposed beams and pretty art work with high ceilings make the space inviting and charming. Our waiter was attentive and professional, allowing my very friendly daughter to tell him several stories even though he was busy. We were served a basket of corn bread and butter to start(very yummy). I ordered shrimp and grits(what else is their to order in Charleston? Duh). It was OMG good. One of my favorite shrimp and grits to date I think. Grits were cooked perfectly, loved the broth and the right amount of shrimp and spice. I will have this again I’m sure. Hubby ordered the daily blue plate special(fried chicken, Mac and cheese casserole, okra and was served with tea and a salad or soup… A real steal for 12.95). He was very happy with his choice. He especially commented on the Mac and cheese and okra. Daughter had a snack before we went, so wasn’t super hungry so we ordered her a child’s simple salad from the kid’s menu. This is the only complaint I have. It was the tiniest salad I’ve ever seen, and for 6 bucks we were not pleased. It was in a bowl the size condiments would usually be served(I wish I had taken a picture!). I did mention to the manager as we were leaving. He was very nice and offered to take it off our check, but we had already paid and just let it go. The price needs to be reduced to accommodate for the very small serving size(maybe 5 bites of salad?) or a larger salad should be offered. All in all a great lunch and we will be back(we will order an adult salad for a couple bucks more for her next time).

The shrimp and grits is to die for!!! A-ma-zing! Service is good, drinks are delicious. I know that every place in Charleston has their own trademark shrimp and grits recipe, but this one was hands down, THEBEST I had. And trust me, I was pretty much on a shrimp-and-grits-cation the whole time I was visiting there.

We dined at S.N.O.B when we were in Charleston last weekend. The ambiance is great and the wait staff is very friendly and helpful. I started with the crab soup special which was phenomenal and paired it with the pear sangria special which was also excellent. I hope they keep both of these items on the menu because I cannot say enough good things about them! For my main course I had the shrimp and grits, which sadly I found underwhelming compared to my other meals in Charleston that weekend. Not as much flavor as I would have liked. I would say the menu is fairly priced for the area but we had more memorable dishes elsewhere.

As I walked aimlessly down the quaint streets of Charleston’s «French Quarter, I decided to ask someone for a lunch recommendation. I stopped a woman who looked every bit the part of «southern belle» and asked«ma’am, where would you suggest I have a leisurely lunch within walking distance». She replied, «oh honey, you can’t be in this area and not go to SNOB». I thanked her and made my way a couple of blocks down to SNOB. I made it there around 2pm on a Friday and they still had a bustling lunch crowd. I was a party of 1 so the hostess said she could seat me right away, if I would be ok at the Chefs Table. The Chef’s table was a delight and they even supply magazines for those who are there alone. I had a wonderful meal(fried fish, greens and dirty rice special) and great service. I am officially a SNOB :)

Yum. I skipped the pre meal options and went straight for the entrée. Porkchop medium over a bed of cabbage and sautéed onions and potatoes was super tasty and I still couldn’t finish it. Good thing because that left room for the crème brûlée garnished with fresh fruit. Great service, classy atmosphere. I’ll be back.

Just finished an amazing lunch with friends here. Beautiful atmosphere with good service, it was the perfect location on e. Bay to catch up and hang out. First, a nice container was dropped off at the table. Surprise. .it contained 5 – 6 pieces of yummy delicious corn bread! That was an awesome change from the typical bread baskets. Two of us loved the grilled salmon salads. Fresh lettuce with grape tomatoes, pepperocini, and feta with a large fillet of salmon perfectly grilled on top. The burger was perfectly cooked with the housemade chips and a pickle. The trout was grilled and per our neighbor, very good. The only snafu was that our server obviously forgot to put in for the red bean soup appy which came out after our entrees. The only thing that she could say was… did you still want it? Oh, well. Everything else was great.

What a beautiful restaurant. The service was impeccable. The restaurant is gorgeous and make sure you have reservations. It’s not too fancy. It’s business casual. The Food was delicious. We had 3 appetizers clams, crab cake, charcuterie liver & pâté plate. I ordered shrimp and grits and my hubby had the duck. The best things we had were the crème brûlée and the banana crème pie with a banana flambé!!! Can’t wait to try other things on the menu!

This was a great spot for dinner when we were visiting Charleston recently. There was something for everyone on the menu from the cocktails to dessert. The waitress was helpful and a great salesperson as well. She was good with the menu, the specials and knew to keep talking about dessert in a not too pushy way. She gave us time to look over the menu and the pacing of the night was just right. At the end of the night, we realized that we were running a bit late for a scheduled tour, so we asked her if we could get the check quickly as we needed to be somewhere quickly. She accommodated and helped us out in just a minute or two. As a vegetarian, I was extremely pleased to find a vegetable plate on the menu that was extraordinary. With 12 vegetables and the ability to consult prior to regarding any likes and dislikes, it was fantastic. There were brussell spouts, spinach, mushrooms, potatoes and much more. Nothing was bad on the plate. The rest of the group all had steaks or other meat dishes that were well-prepared. Two desserts were shared that were the special peanut butter pie. It was delicious. It is an upscale, but fun atmosphere that made it an enjoyable night out for four of us.
