I haven’t written a review in awhile but this bad experience brought me back to Unilocal. The food was not good, I’d pretty much recommend any other BBQ place in the area. Our waitress did a decent job and that saved it from a one star review. I suppose it’s possible to have an OK experience here if you are only interested in hanging out at the bar drinking and eating nachos or wings. Still, you can find much better options in the area for that. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

The food was mediocre at best. Food was a pick up the food was hard, bland and cold. We ordered the salmon meal and the pulled pork nachos. Disappointing late night meal.

Two stars because eventually, they bring you drinks and food. I have been to SBs twice… once with a coworker and once with a group of six adults and children. The coworker visit was ok. We ate at the bar so we had the bartender’s attention anytime but any communication about food was slow to happen because she had to do bartender stuf and then stop and be a waitress. When I was there with my whole family, different story and I looked fondly upon my previously mediocre visit. Waitress was awfully slow and inattentive. The food(ribs) was definitely not prepared that day but it was edible with some sauce. I would have complained if it was just the slow, inattentive service or the slightly stale ribs or that they tried to cram six people into a four person booth when the place was empty(we took the initiative to move ourselves to a couple of high-top tables), Its hard to complain when everything is just generally undesirable in the experience. Bottom line is that you take your chances coming here if you are out to enjoy yourself. Too many good BBQ places in Charleston to settle for this place.

Smokey bones! This place is a great location to hang out at the bar and have delicious smoked wings. The bartenders are always friendly and the food is just delicious! The cornbread is out of this world, it almost tastes like cake. The grilled salmon is also a go-to of mine. It comes with a citrus butter sauce which is very good. We have our bike nights here as well and they’re really good at supporting large groups. I’ve been there countless times and it’s always a great experience.

I only ordered Loaded Nachos with pulled pork. It was really good and such a huge portion size! I called and picked it up and to my surprise the waitress came out with this huge tray! Customer service was also great. Will go back again.

I put it with Chilis. It was your run of the mill Chilis. From what the manager said though after 10 the food is cheaper and they have bands DJs football loud etc. I think it’s a bar place. They stay open till 2!!! I don’t overly recommend it but you won’t be disappointed..

My visit to this venue was and invite from my travel & vacation friends who live in Charleston, S.C. We met for a meeting and I found this location to be larger than the one I’m familiar with in Bowie, Md. The staff was attentive and I was offered service from nearly every person working this shift. Maybe it was the southern hospitality or something. I ordered wings and then followed with ribs. I’m not sure if I was overwhelmed with the feeling of being the number #1 customer of the day or when the food arrived It was fresh out the oven made just for me. I wasn’t expecting the ribs to fall of the bone nor the wings to all be on point! Everything was 100% to my satisfaction and without question I will return to this venue. In conversation with the manager she advised she visited the Bowie, Md. location and agreed this size venue would really work in the DC, Md., Va. area. When you are in Charleston, SC stop by for a great experience and enjoy some good Smokey Bones!

We’ve been here a couple times, and I really like it. The food is great, there are lots of options! It’s a good place to bring friends and family, since there’s really something for everyone. The downside is with the hosts. They suck! Even if the restaurant is empty, expect to wait ten minutes for a table. On the way to our table we saw at least six tables that simply needed to be bussed. Some even had just one cup on the table. Also on the way out the hosts were fighting in front of customers. The owners need to fire all the hosts and hire some bussers.

Restaurant was pretty empty, still took 10 minutes to get seated. Slow service, only fair rated food. Try another BBQ joint.

We get Smokey Bones BBQ to-go, usually a pound of pulled pork with the chipotle sauce or Texas brisket if it’s after 4pm. The service over the phone is easy, quick pickup. The parking lot can be a nightmare to get in to sometimes. The BBQ isn’t the best or worst I’ve ever had, but it’s convenient and sometimes that’s the top priority!

We are strangers to town and we found this on the way to another restaurant. We decided to eat here instead. The service is outstanding. Our waitress Manny is so gracious and wonderful. The nachos is a big plate of meat, cheese, tomato, jalapeño, sour cream, guac. The wings are out of this world; smoked then fried. The steak and the St. Louis rack is delicious!!! The mayo lemonade is a nice change from regular lemonade. Overall, this place rocks! Too bad we live too far away for us to visit often.

Amazing craft beer selection. Where else can you get a bucket of dogfish head 90 minute bottles for 13.50??? And the food is to die for

Their honey pecan butter to put on the cornbread is out of this world! The pulled pork is seasoned enough to not need sauce, but the turkey is not a must have(tastes like others, no noticeable seasoning and shaved thin so not in the traditional bbq smokehouse style). We had a great server, Carrie I believe.

Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. I like good food. I think many people do. I’ll even settle for okay or mediocre food. This was horrible. Almost everything about my experience was horrible. The food, the service, the atmosphere, name it and it was probably horrible. My server only came back once to bring me sour cream for the dry, chewy baked potato I had ordered with my dry, chewy ribs. She never came to ask how the food was or to refill our beverages. My broccoli was mushy and overlooked to the point of no longer being bright green but a pale yellow color. I would have liked for her to have resolved my issues with my food. We will not be back. My fiancé’s beer was the only appetizing thing about the entire dinner.

I like it here. Smokey bones seems to be a good place to go when you want a step up from Applebees. I like that this restaurant has upgraded to the table side service where you can pay for your meal at the table without having to wait for your waiter/waitress to return with your card. The food hasn’t been a disappointed. I’m a big fan of the Smokehouse chicken and their BBQ baked beans. The bar has a fair selection and provides several TV screens so you aren’t missing a beat regardless where you sit. I give it a thumbs up.

Stopped in about 1pm today and the front was kinda busy but no one seemed to be around for a while. There was two other parties ahead of us. Finally got seated, table was a Lil dirty but the waitress noticed and took care of that. I ordered the smokehouse burger lunch special and 4 smoked wings. The burger and wings are awesome. Really tasty. The waiter was nice. Why the three stars, lunch service is slower especially during lunch hour. Other than that it was good. Had to wait 15 – 20 mins for food. Priced reasonably well. Would visit again.

I really needed a good meal to warm my soul yesterday but I didn’t want anything too heavy. My lack of experience with this restaurant is going to rate it a 3 but if I return I will order a bbq meal for fair judgement. There were only 4 of us at the bar so the service was quick, polite, and personally engaging. I did not have to wait long for my burger and the sweet potato fries were thinly cut(not overbearing in size) and seasoned with kosher salt. My burger was juicy, the sweet sauce with the bacon and avocado gave it a nice tange. Adding the lettuce and tomatoes added to the freshness, juicy — Ness and the crunch in every bite. I highly recommend this burger to fellow burger lovers. I do suggest that like in New Jersey, the Sweet potato fries are served with a small portion of Vermont Maple Syrup for dipping. I’m GOING back, MY mind, body, AND Soul Were pleased.

I do understand when people tell me they don’t like Smokey Bones because it’s too generic. However, sometimes you just want a place with good, consistent food and no surprises. This is my spot. They’ve got five sauces on the table in very dirty bottles, service is generally prompt, and the menu has enough choices to give you flexibility but not so many you start to panic. Some of the phrases on the wall are clever and others make you wonder if the founder was a sexist bigot. None of that matters when you grab your burger or take a bite of pulled pork. Just enjoy the flavor, wash your hands, and you’ll pay a reasonable price after it all.

This is the second time eating here and I’ve concluded pulled pork bbq is not their specialty. Both times it is dry and salty with little to offer in the way of sauces. I had the pulled pork sandwich with Brunswick stew. If you like Brunswick stew it probably is worth a try as it probably was one of the better ones I’ve tried. I just can’t seem to get into Brunswick stew so it’s probably not something I will ever really enjoy eating. I put some on top of my bbq pork and it made the pork more tastier. The bun on my sandwich was related to the brick family. Two pieces harder than bones. My boyfriend suggested I take them home. where they now lay in my yard… as stepping stones. I did like my appetizer, spinach dip and chips with a small bowl of sassy salsa and sour cream on the side for a little variety between spinach dipping. The service received was better than the food. I hate to waste food so I took most of my pulled pork home in a little box topped with some brunswick stew. Hoping it’s one of those times when second day magic kicks in and it’s better the second day reheated for supper.
