This restaurant passes the first test for a barbecue place — you can smell the food from outside. Inside we had great pulled pork and brisket, with an extensive choice of sides. There aren’t many options for barbecue in N Charleston and this restaurant won’t let you down.

15min wait just to order when there’s only 3 people in front of you… wow… slow service for such an easy concept.

Simple franchise BBQ. Smells great when you walk in, the two meat sandwich was just the right size and good flavor(I picked brisket and spicy cheddar sausage). I only regret that I checked in after sitting down and got a coupon for doing so, but too late to use. I’m in the road so it probably will go unused.(Free drink)

Food was okay at best. I had the 3 meat combo which consist of beef brisket, polish sausage, and pork ribs. I also had the waffle fries and mac & cheese as my sides. I did make sure to get my free big yellow cup when I checked in with the Unilocal app! The brisket was the better of the bunch which had more of a taste then the other meat with the sausage a good second. Overall I wasn’t impressed enough to want to return, but you never know until you try.

Brisket is good, a little dry but easily fixable with sauce. Pulled pork is standard fare. The sauces are runny, and there’s not a whole lot of variety, but the hot flavor is decent. Mac and cheese is straight up Stouffer’s, not terrible but not homemade. Sweet tea wasn’t very sweet. The waffle fries are just as good as Chic-fil-a. The meal came with a square looking biscuit-like object. Looked like hardtack, essentially flavorless but good for dipping in sauce if you’re into that. For the price, you get a ton of food. I’ll try the ribs one day.

Love Dickies! Great food, especially for a chain. The only place I will eat okra in SC, they fry it nice and crispy! Fast and friendly service.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. BBQ was OK, not great. I wasn’t a huge fan of the original sauce but the spicy was pretty good. I liked the free soft serve.

I was excited to come to Dickey’s after going to the one in Columbia several times. The noise level is unbearable! It sounds like Super Bowl Sunday squeezed into a third of the space. The acoustics were not planned out well for a family restaurant. The walls are aluminum and wood and the ceilings need to be dropped. Yes the food is just as good as Columbia but the noise level is horrendous.

The Pulled Pork and Beef Brisket were both pretty good for a strip mall BBQ joint. The Jalapeño Beans were were the highlight of the meal, they are pretty good. Overall, this is a slightly above average BBQ joint for a quick lunch or dinner when you don’t have the time to drive out to the country for proper southern BBQ.

I went to dickeys today with an open mind really hoping it would be good. Once again I should have went with my gut feeling. 1. very small portions. the meats come in small handfuls. the way I see it is that if I want to pay good money for BBQ, I want to at least have enough food to get full from. 2. the pork and brisket were so bland. The BBQ sauce could not even make it taste like anything. 3. Although the ribs were«fall of the bone», they were still obviously re heated because the meat was very dry and flavorless. 4. And last but not least… There was SERIOUSLY a piece of something like Saran Wrap plastic, larger than a quarter in size, in both mine AND my husbands pulled pork. after calmly informing someone who seemed to be the manager, he simply replied«Oh, sorry about that», then walked away… There was no refund or sincere explanation at all. Completely in shock of how the other customers and employees just really did not care. HUGEDISAPPOINTMENT.

I do love the meats at Dickey’s. The brisket was especially good and tender. Brisket is a tough piece of meat and to make it that tender is awesome. The ribs, sausage, and turkey were all great. I really do like this place. My complaint is about the sides. The cole slaw was good, but the mac and cheese tasted like the kind from KFC(not good) and the potato salad was bland. I know their specialty is their BBQ meats, but good sides make a great meal. That’s why they only get 3 stars from me. If they would get someone’s grandmother in there to make some authentic country sides, they will be A++++. I like them because they are closer to my home, but I travel often to Melvin’s in MT. Pleasant because not only is the BBQ spot on, but their sides are excellent. Put more effort in to your sides as you do your meats and you will be one of the best.

The atmosphere was very inviting and the food was pretty good. The pulled pork was awesome. We used a groupon to order online and when we arrived our order was not ready and the manager told the poor lady in front of us they never received her order either although she whipped out her order confirmation. What appeared to be a manager emerged and apologized several times. I’ll stop by again and give another try.

Best BBQ in North Charleston. I understand that this is a popular chain, but I have never been to a Dickeys before. It was definitely good. I had the pulled pork sandwich, Mac and cheese, and cole slaw, oh and of course the ice cream! Overall it isn’t as good as Home Team, but if you are looking for good BBQ and you are in North Charleston, I would go to Dickeys.

Dickey’s is great casual bbq! Quick service and everything tastes fresh, I’ve been a half dozen times and always leave satisfied. The dining area feels spacious and music is not overwhelming. Reasonable prices and the daily combo deal is only $ 9. Ribs are tender, pulled pork is just smoky enough and the brisket is great. I should try more sides, but the waffle fries and slaw get me every time. I have issues with many of the local bbq joints(including downtown), but no complaints about Dickey’s so far!

Ooh, the smells that greet you when you walk into Dickeys! I’ve been twice since their grand opening and have been reduced to severe watering of the mouth upon walking in the door both times. I love barbecue, and Dickeys delivers the goods. I’ve gone with my wife and our son both trips, and we get the family picnic. It’s one pound of barbecue, two sides, and four bread rolls. It ends up being more than enough to feed the three of us, but we have no complaints about the leftovers. The barbecue is hot and tender. We get fried okra and the mac n’ cheese as sides. The macaroni and cheese is super creamy and the fried okra is always so hot and fresh they usually have to bring it out separately after preparing some. I did notice on the last visit that the okra is from pre-packaged frozen bags. That’s the one thing that prevented me from laying down a full five stars for Dickeys Barbecue. Their sauces(sweet, hot, and original) are pretty solid, and there’s even free soft serve ice cream!

I had the Big Barbecue Sandwich(with sweet BBQ sauce) and had fried okra and green beans as my sides. Everything was fantastic — especially the green beans, surprisingly enough. The staff was very friendly too. I will be coming back!

Free ice cream! Now onto the BBQ… I was already familiar with Dickey’s before it opened, as it is a popular chain in the Raleigh, NC area where I’ve spent some time. I hadn’t actually eaten at one but I was familiar. We stopped in on their opening weekend and the line was to the door. It is an order and pay at the counter kind of place. It took like 30 minutes to get to the front of the line. We probably would have left had we not had a free sandwich coupon and time on our hands. Anyway, we get to the front of the line and order. We realize one of the reasons it took so long was that each time someone ordered any kind of meat they went to a warmer, opened the door, took out the meat, unwrapped it, took the meat out, put it on a plate, wrapped remaining meat back up, and put it back in a warmer. Then the next person in line would order the same meat and they’d have to start the process all over again. The efficiency was severely lacking and the customers paid the price by waiting in line FOREVER. I understand the probably have DHEC standards in terms of food temperatures, but come on, there had to have been a better way to keep food up to temp without have to constantly take the same food in and out of warmer. Anyway, 30 mins later we finally have some food. The BBQ meats are pretty good. The brisket and the turkey were really tender and flavorful. The pulled pork however I found dry and bland. I like BBQ sauces, but I don’t like using them to make the food more edible. BBQ meat should be able to standalone with no sauce… but the pork, in my opinion needed a lot of sauce to save it. We also got some sides and an entrée salad(I was trying to be healthier). The green beans in bacon were standard green beans, but were really bland. The bacon, although visible, tasted like it had been left behind. The mashed potato casserole which was just mashed potatoes with some cheese on top(what constitutes a casserole anyway?) was tasty. The Smokehouse salad, although pretty good, is NOT healthy(over 900 calories I found out later), so that is why is probably tasted so good… I mean really though… when you put battered and fried onions, ranch dressing, cheese and brisket on some lettuce, is it really still a salad? The staff was friendly and visible behind the counter. The soda mixtures seemed a little off to us. My engineer fiancée noticed issues with their HVAC ducts, as they were dripping in some places, and the restaurant smelled smokier than it should have indicating an issue with their ventilation.
