Tends to be pricy but great food. Got there early(5 – 630) and ate at bar for happy hour. Great selection with reasonable prices for drink and food. Next to me guys eating a 10 Oz burger that looked fantastic! Ordered the shrimp cocktail and sesame salmon based on recommendations! So glad I did, both were great! Look forward to going back to try the burger!

I had the Berkshire Pork Chops with garlic mashed potatoes & steamed vegetables. Absolutely the best pork chops I’ve ever had! Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a special night out. The attention to detail from the time you enter the door from the time you leave is like no other.

WOW!!! Had the«Surf & Turf» special, an 8 oz. filet and and blue crab/lobster cake! The hit though, was the Potato Au Gratin side dish! The service was impeccable, and the wine list had a nice Napa Merlot match for my dinner. Too full for dessert, but I will be back. Wonderful!!!

Pretty damn good. not locally sourced but the lamb lollipops were great. The wedge was also good, the steak au poivre was fantastic. Of corse we complemented it with a nice Paul Hobbs Cabernet. We also enjoyed sides of wild mushrooms and broccoli… a slice of steak au poivre with some mushrooms. a sip of Cabernet… can’t go wrong. all life’s worries are gone… for a while anyway. Good service… do give this place a try.

A few months ago my wife and I went to the chop house and had a very unsatisfactory experience. However, I recently heard that shortly after our poor experience the chop house made several changes to management as well as to the sources of their beef and other ingredients so my wife and I decided to go back and give it one more try. We were both hoping that the changes would be positive as we are both very hungry for a nice fine dining experience and are left rather starved in the charleston area. Right away we noticed that the service was not only drastically improved, it was fantastic. Our waitress could tell by the look on my wife’s face that something wasn’t right with her diet coke(I think it was a little watered down) and immediately had it replaced. We had the ahi tuna as an appetizer and like last time it was very good. However, the main reason I went back was in hopes to find a better prepared prime steak. I ordered the New York and my wife had the filet. They were both ordered medium rare. Although, they were both a little too rare for my liking I have to admit that they were intact medium rare. I have grown accustomed to ordering everything medium rare at all 2 and 3 star dining options around charleston because if you don’t it will come out as shoe leather. I was offered freshly ground pepper to compliment my New York and it made all the difference. It wasn’t quite as tender as I had hoped but it met all of expectations that I have for a New York. The flavor, however, was spot on. My wife’s filet was perfect. She hardly ever orders red meat and she loved every bite. I was lucky enough to steal a couple bites and it was extremely tender. I barely had to chew. Both our sides were to or liking. My wife isn’t a mashed potato fan but loved be garlic mashed potatoes that I ordered as well as the sweet potato casserole which she ordered. When we left we got a slice of cheesecake to go. It was cheesecake. Nothing spectacular and a surprisingly small portion. I can’t say that our second experience at the Chop House was perfect but I can say that it was dramatically improved. Pros: –The steaks were prepared and tasted like a prime steak should. — The service was outstanding. Our first experienced we felt ignored and like a burden since we had walked in so late. It was very refreshing to have top quality service. I could tell that the diners around us were extremely impressed at the quality of service. Cons: –The cheesecake was surprisingly small and didn’t leave much of an impression. I’m sure this could have been different had we stayed for dessert. The box is only so big. — although my Caesar Salad had a little too much dressing for my liking it was a lot better than before. It was brought on a chilled plate and was prepared with crisp, fresh lettuce. Definitely the best Caesar I have had in recent months. Consensus: If you’re in need of a fine dining experience in the Charleston area the Chop House will almost certainly meet your needs and exceed your expectations. Although it isn’t the best place I have experienced it is the best experience Charleston or anywhere close has to offer. Enjoy!

The steaks are good but the prices are not worth it. The sides and wine list are the best parts of the meal. Don’t bother. I’d recommend Soho’s for a better meal at a lesser price.

The only thing that made me return to this place was their delicious smoked salmon and their perfectly cooked scallops. The first experience I had with the chop house was horrible. From the moment my friend and I sat down we were talked down to by our server. I’m not quite sure what this mans problem was, but his behavior was so unacceptable I thought about asking for management.(I HATE confrontation and would rather just not return) The man came back only a minute after leaving us to decide on our meals and as I was still looking at the iPad to decide what I wanted, I was asked to look up and stop speaking to the ground. When the meal came he was no where to be found for a long while, only returning to fill the surrounding air with the POTENT smell of cigarette smoke. When closing our meal, I left my tip on the receipt. The server came immediately back to the table, opened the folder in front of me, ROLLEDHISEYES, and walked away. He’s lucky he got ANY tip at all. Surprisingly I went back a second time and it was lovely. Service was great and food was superb.

Took the wife and my 2 sons age 10 and 15 their for dinner last night. The food and service was excellent. All of us had had steaks that were done to perfection. The chocolate cake here is great.

Very disappointing experience. New server was of little help with wine list and menu. The chopped salad looked great but the taste combinations were strange. Oh, and to top it off, there were flies all around my table. Made the whole place feel«dirty». I won’t be going back.

Food was great! Waitstaff was super! Bar drinks were mixed right. I ordered pineapple cosmopolitan which had just the right amount of ingredients. I also went withe the House special New York Strip, house salad with a white Balsamic Vinaigrette(too much garlic for my taste) and Unsweet Tea with dinner. Everything came out excellent. Waitstaff never missed a beat. Will definitely come again when we are in West Virginia!

Just what you would expect when you want to visit a «Chop House.» Quality offerings from the chef in both the land rover and sea swimming variety. Family style sides are excellent to accompany the meal. Great wine list, limited beers(as to be exected) but great atmosphere and impeccable service. Our server was prompt, polite, knowledgable, and engaging. If you want to have a nice(and pricey) meal in Charleston this is your place.

Nice atmosphere. Good food but not worth the price. Guess you pay for the atmosphere. Service was so so. Rarely saw our waiter during the meal. Had to wait twenty minutes for the check and the place wasn’t even crowded. Doubt if we go back.

Service was slow. I waited over 25 minutes before someone took my drink order and the chopped salad was oily and without much flavor. Filet on the salad was over-cooled. Disappointing evening

Can you say wanna be? The Chophouse tries so desperately to be something it’s not. The food is unremarkable to say the least and accordingly, disproportionately priced. It’s survival may be explained due to the lack of acceptable restaurants in Charleston. One of the most annoying affectations is the tremendous effort by the waitstaff to serve all simultaneously. It’s ridiculous. Our waitress appeared to be under the influence of either drugs, alcohol, or both. She was intrusive throughout our entire meal in her attempt to earn a big tip. In the end, this is a classic example of form over substance.

Impressive fancy place but not amazing. The service was perfect, the food was ok. My wife and I had a combo of an 11oz filet and a crab and lobster cake. First the good… the crab and lobster cake was amazing. Everything else was kind of bland. I was surprised that almost everything needed salt, because I am not the type to salt anything. Overall we enjoyed the experience but I expect a better taste for a $ 150 meal for two.

They give great attention to detail — the bread is wonderful. The Caesar salad is buttery and garlicky. I had the bone-in strip which was a good value and cooled flawlessly. The prime steaks really make a difference over choice or select. Sorry I didn’t save room for dessert — even the garlic mashed potatoes and steamed carrots were special. Amazing meal. Thanks.

My friend and I ordered the daily special which is American Snapper. The fish is fresh and cooked right. Very tasty. The crab meet cake is very good as well. Love the decoration and the paintings on the wall.

Fantastic experience here. For the geeks who want to know, the tablet menu is android based, so definitely not an iPad. I’m not a seafood fan, but I like to live on the wild side, so I tried the Swordfish steak… I wish I could order it every week! It was tremendously delicious! Why haven’t I had swordfish sooner! Lemme grab my épée! The atmosphere is very nice… has a great character to it(not like«the place is ugly» kind of great character, the«neat little details» kind of character. For some reason I really dug the Napoleon portrait to indicate the men’s room… and inside the men’s room? A clean setup complete with mouthwash… because I mean realistically, you SHOULD be taking your dates to this place. and after you’ve wined and dined her, she doesn’t want stank breath ruining the mood. Partake liberally, then thank your host for the opportunity. The only downside is that it’s attached to the Charleston Town Center, so you occasionally see the mall«riff-raff» walk past your window. Not a huge distraction, but worth mentioning. Stare longingly into your lover’s eyes and you won’t have to worry about it The price is probably a little high by WV standards, but I’ve been numbed by the ridiculousness of San Francisco prices, so we came out cheaper than I expected… but the food was the best I’ve had in a long time. Looking forward to going again!

Great overall experience. I was very impressed with this place. The food, the atmosphere, and the service were all outstanding. One of the cool things is their menu, which is a tablet(probably an ipad but it was difficult to tell). It was great because you could touch the food items on the menu and a picture would appear to show you what you should expect. They have a large selection of wines to choose from. If you plan on ordering steak when you go I definitely recommend the«Cowboy steak,» which on the menu is also listed as the chef’s favorite. It is a rib-eye steak with the bone in. It has a great balance of meat to fat, which creates an amazingly succulent flavor. I dined with a group and was able to try the filet and the porterhouse, and I still think the«Cowboy steak» was the best. I think this is a great spot for groups because all the side items are portioned for about 4 people. For dessert I had the tiramisu. I am a huge tiramisu fan and if it is on the dessert menu at a restaurant, then 9 times out of 10 that is what I order. Nearly every restaurant is different in terms of the balance of flavors, and have a narrow window for what think it should taste like. I was slightly disappointed because the whipped cream flavor was very heavy and I barely got a hint of the coffee, but that is my only complaint. Everything else was exceptional.
