Terrible! Slow slow service. Wait staff who had no idea what they were doing. Clueless! Understaffed. Luke warm food. One of the worst experience I’ve ever had.

We checked out a dinner show here and had a nice time. The music was great and it made for a very enjoyable evening. Food was decent but not great. Our service was good. A good change of pace evening out.

We ate downstairs, and had exceptional food with exceptional service by April. It was a nice romantic dinner celebrating our anniversary. One of the highlights of our trip to Charleston, we will definitely make this a regular stop when we are in town.

In Charleston dropping my daughter off at the College of Charleston and came across this jazz bar after dinner. Simply Amazing experience! Fabulous singer & great band! Wonderful upstairs atmosphere! Excellent end of the evening!

Food was good but not hot. Service was slow as they were under staffed. We really expected more for the price tag on the evening. Music was good.

We had dinner at the bar upstairs in the jazz club. The upstairs was pleasant but lacked some of the charm of the primary dining room. Our dinner was good but arrived just warm, we sent it back. It came back with some of the food hot but the sides were still just warm. There were plenty of servers and they were nice enough though not very attentive — even though we ate at the bar, service suffered because the bartender wasn’t there a lot of the time. I was surprised that there was a cover charge. Nobody mentioned the cover charge and we didn’t find out about it until we received our check — never a good thing. I’m not surprised there might be a cover charge but I had understood from their website that the cover was waived with dinner. Either way this should have been stated when we arrived The music was excellent and even though the venue was so-so the sound was good.

The piano music is awesome in the background. The shrimp appetizer was delicious and the lobster bisque was creamy and full of flavor. My husband had a perfectly cooked filet and I enjoyed the baked eggplant over ravioli. This was the perfect spot for our anniversary dinner.

I planned a weekend getaway to Charleston for my husband’s 50th birthday which included dinner reservations here to enjoy the Friday night jazz show. I made the reservation the first week in March, but when I called two nights before the dinner to confirm our reservation was told it would have to be cancelled because they had booked a private event. I agreed to change our reservation from a Friday night dinner to the Sunday brunch and was told we could arrive at 11:30. When we arrived on Sunday morning the staff was confused as to why we were there because the band had not set up and we were asked to wait at the bar until noon. The bar actually turned out to be the highlight of our visit. Rick, the bartender, was a gracious host and mixed an excellent Bloody Mary! As we waited several other parties arrived for 11:30 reservations and were also asked to wait. There is a definite disconnect between the management and the hosts making the reservations. The food was average. We sent the calamari appetizer back because it was so bad and the manager, who was also our server, comped the below average appetizer. It was supposed to be pan seared and was barely warmed through, smelled very fishy, was slimy and was too rubbery to chew. My husband’s egg was still raw in the whites. The jazz trio was refreshing, but playing to a disinterested audience. We enjoyed the music, not sure anyone else was even listening. There are too many stellar restaurants in Charleston for this mediocre offering, I hope they were just having an off day.

This is my 3rd time at the bar at Mezz. We have yet to hear the jazz! We split the burger this time and added a fried egg to it(which didn’t arrive with our meal) and the truffle fries. Cool location and good environment — not too big, not too small.

— awesome ambiance. upstairs, they have an intimate setting with live jazz on saturdays at 8p and 10p — friendly, attentive waitstaff — the shrimp appetizer was incredible; extremely flavorful and it comes with a good portion — wine list is decent… they had no problem letting us try a taste before ordering — very talented jazz musicians! be prepared for the«house rules:» no talking, no phones, no photography. also, there’s a $ 15 cover/person added to your final bill — i’ll echo some other reviews in saying that this is definitely a jazz venue that happens to serve food — not the other way around!

This place is beautiful, especially upstairs where the live music is. But to start off with, the wine selection is excellent and the food is to die for. We had braised pork shoulder with sweet potato gnocchi and chicken with butternut squash ravioli and the plates were pretty and perfectly flavored. The whole wait staff was super friendly and attentive, and answered our long list of questions about the live show, which was also a great time.

Good music but it is not a bar nor a club atmosphere. We were expecting dining and dancing to jazz not a concert. The musicians requested no talking and no noise while they were performing. We left after a set and nobody asked why we were leaving. I thought that indicated poor customer service since we paid the admission fee.

Found this awesome little jazz club over the weekend and attended the saturday night 10pm show. We ate dinner before the show, so only enjoyed wine at the club. They have a decent wine list with a good variety of by the glass options all at decent prices. The music was wonderful and we really enjoyed the show. To be clear, their is a $ 15 charge per person added on to your check for being upstairs in the jazz club during the show. Some people found this ridiculous and stormed out, fought with the servers, etc. I found this to be crazy, after all, you do have musicians entertaining you. If you want free entertainment, find a dj or jukebox. This place is billed as a jazz club with a food option, not a supper club with live jazz. The people that I saw having the problem were not ordering food, nor did they think it was fair to pay for entertainment, I was happy to see them leave before the show started! $ 30 got us a white linen table in a cute little jazz venue with great entertainment and good acoustics, I feel that the money was well worth it! I hope to make it back sometime!

A great find while waiting for our reservation at Husk. Upstairs above the restaurant, this is a live band, white table cloth and candles sort of treasure. I highly recommend stopping in, just my sort of place.

Had a very special New Year’s here. Four course meal with wine pairing was fantastic and well optioned. The man and I split up our choices so we could try more of the menu. He had the duck and I had the lamb. Both were succulent and not gamey or fatty. Staff very hospitable and accommodating. Would recommend this to anyone!

By far the best date night Ive ever had in Charleston. Amazing music, wine, service, food, everything was spectacular! Great vibe in the spot… felt chic and comfortable. I cannot wait to go back again.
