My wife and I stopped at Utopia again this past July while on vacation. We love this store! The owner is fabulous to work with, and she has a beautiful selection of womens clothing. She stocks a very select number of each item that makes them very unique. Not 20+ of dresses that you would then see everyone wearing. We are from Indiana, but whenever we can get into the Charleston area, this is were we shop for womens clothing. I highly recommend this store.

Walking down the street, I noticed a purse in the window and decided to go in and check it out. The owner was very nice and didn’t pressure me at all, which I appreciated. I didn’t look at the clothes at all; however, the price on the purse was about what I expected based on the brand and that she was a small business owner, not a big box store. I would certainly visit her store again if we were in Charleston.

The store seemed to have dresses that my wife liked and you would not likely find the clothing in the stores anywhere else in Charleston. Therefore you would be unique and someone wouldn’t be wearing that gorgeous dress or shoes that you just purchased. The owner seemed nice, but the prices are a bit exorbitant… yeah… really high prices. I’m sure she needs the margins to afford the rent on Broad Street, but whoa…

If you’re looking for something original that you won’t see on everybody, Utopia is a good place to consider. The owner has an eye towards finding unique, well-made pieces from smaller designer names, and the prices are high but not ridiculously so. The location on Broad is a little out of the way from the main drag(King St) for shopping, but it’s the perfect excuse to stop in at Fast & French for lunch. My only request… it’s time to lose the ad «We know there’s a GAP, and it makes you feel LIMITED…» It was somewhat clever, but now it’s just tired.
