Business model is crap. Why is it that they are unwilling to sub protein? I asked for a gyro(sub Chx) for lamb. Because I don’t like greasy pressed together meat. The staff was dumbfounded… that I asked for chicken instead of lamb? After spending 20 years in the business, I was dumbfounded??? I explained to them how to you use/modify an order on there aloha computer system. They didn’t care and they were unwilling to help. I really try to support local businesses but after several times of them screwing up my order or just plain don’t care to make things right I doubt I’ll be back. It’s really a shame bc the foods not terrible, over priced and bad service but not bad.

It’s an okay taco place, nothing crazy nice. Good quality and service. There are other taco places within 15 minutes I’d rather go to.

Always a great place for a light dinner that won’t break the bank. Love the lamb gyro and Thai peanut tacos! Never disappointed by their quality or portions for the tacos. Healthy and fresh ingredients make amazing plates!

Service wasn’t bad but I’m giving this place one star because the food was disgusting. My boyfriend and I couldn’t even stomach to finish our tacos.

A local showed me this hidden gem last time I came into town. I can’t get enough! Fresh and delicious every time I visit.

The girl who took our order was SONICE, and all of our food was really tasty. Two hungry people ate for $ 22: we split four tacos and an order of queso.

Pro: These are not your traditional Hispanic style taco. These are fusion type tacos that range from South American, Jamaican, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Greek, Vegetarian, Seafood, and Traditional style. There is something for everyone. They use corn tortillas, which is a plus in my book. Con: A family member who visited with me wasn’t fond of the bulgogi taco. Said it was too sweet. Bulgogi is supposed to be lightly sweetened with pureed pear and not sugar. This is a gem of a place serving some of the best Tacos I have ever had. Definitely a place I will be visiting very often.

Excellent tacos, great queso, good drinks, and fun place to eat. I love the outdoor seating on sunny days. As far as food, the jerk chicken taco is my favorite! The steak is also great. I’ve even tried the kid’s menu BLT with chicken which is very tasty! Good drink options including beer and margaritas. Plenty of seating both indoor and out. Fairly inexpensive.

I’ve been to the Asheville location and loved the food there. The tacos were definitely yummy but not quite the same as the original. I would definitely go back given the chance. They have some different taco options than most!

Ok. I hate to say it but things have gone a bit downhill at this joint. If this happens to me again, when spending hard earned cash, I’m eating somewhere else. Depending on if the place is busy or not effects the quality of the food and service. We are talking smaller portions, overcooked tortillas, bad service. Went in the other night. Not busy. People behind me had a party of four. I order to go(five items). By the time I got my food the people behind me who ordered more food than I, got there stuff, ate, and left at the same time my food arrived. TAKENOTE, serve people in the order they come in. Don’t care if mine says«to go» or not. And to top it off it’s quite possible they just forgot about me and left the bag behind the counter. Food was cold and some tortillas were hard due to over cooking. This was the first time I’ve had to ask«where’s my food» in this joint. The excuse, «We were busy and there were orders ahead of yours.» Automatic bs response. OH, but I did receive free chips and salsa! That makes up for late, cold food. The pro is still happy hour which has $ 1 Tecates and cheaper beer/margaritas. But man, stay consistent with the food quality and please improve take out service.

As others have said, it’s a little hard to find, but it’s worth the tiny bit of trouble. I’ve had just about every taco on the menu and haven’t been disappointed. Some versions weren’t my cup of tea, but that doesn’t mean you won’t like them! My personal favorites are the grilled Fish, Jerk Chicken, and Bangkok Shrimp. 2 – 3 tacos will do the trick for most people, but if you find yourself still hungry, grab a side or dessert. They also offer $ 2 Tecate cans, which is a pretty solid deal. Prices are similar to Taco Boy’s, which is the most similar restaurant to White Duck Taco, but I think this place is a little more adventurous that TB.

«Worthy of a visit» I need to give White Duck a second visit as I had a great duck taco paired with a shrimp one that was overly sweet(a common complaint with a few of them). The location was a bit hard to find if you’re not looking for a giant duck on a building, but it’s pretty obvious once you spot it! Once inside, there is a nice atmosphere with a very helpful and friendly staff. However, for the size of the tacos I feel $ 2.50 would be a fair price. This is an issue I have with most taco shops though. Especially not to come with any chips or a drink for nearly $ 10 with tax for just two tacos.

THOUGHTWEWEREINASHEVILLE? Check the specials board out. I think those are the best ones they have. I think it is almost as good as the Asheville location. Need to work on their seasonings some more. Unlike the Asheville location, there is plenty of seating here! Ready, set jump your way to some great tacos. Only locals may know what I’m talking about. :p

Just bad all around. BBQ carnitas taco and shrimp taco were both sweet – sweet! As in the flavor, not as in slang for«great” – and the steak & cheese taco was as bland as possible.(When did restaurants stop salting things?) «Fresh-made» chips tasted fresh from a bag. Queso was a waxy dud. Oh and the tea is super weak(maybe they are reusing teabags to save money?) And who is in charge of the music? One after another from someone’s playlist of Aggressively Bad Hits of the 90s. Meet Virginia, jebus almighty. Might work if you are a college student and it is 1997. But if you are visiting from out of town, don’t make the same mistake we did. The last thing you should be doing in Charleston is eating bad.

Are you on a quest for delicious hipster tacos? Than White Duck Taco Shop has what you are looking for. Hipster tacos? Well Hipster Tacos are non conventional tacos and White Duck Taco Shop will have you covered with their non conventional tacos. Want a gyros based taco? Want a pork belly taco with bits of watermelon? Well White Duck Taco Shop has you covered. The location can be hard to find in the evening if you’ve never been and don’t have your GPS on. It is further back and by the time you see the well let white duck painted on the side of the building you are already too far to make a turn into their parking lot. It is a very large location and would be perfect for happy hour if you were interested in getting their speciality margarita. Their menu is diverse and it would be easy to be lost on making a decision between the Banh Mi Taco and the Korean Bulgogi taco, go with the Banh Mi Tacos. You choose your appetizers in the first column, the nect couple columns above the register are the tacos and then is the kids menu and drink menu. The tacos are reasonably prices between 3 – 4.75 dollars. Their stand out tacos include the Bangkok Shrimp and Pork Belly Tacos, which are of course on the high level of the price. I never saw rice and beans on their menu, so either eat an extra taco or get their chips and salsas(3 kind) or their chips and cheese(queso). I went with their chips and salsas, which were decent except for the middle tan color one. For some reason I suspect that would be better warm, but all 3 of them are cold. I placed my order, paid and took my number and sat down to wait for my food to get brought out. Now if you are reading this, then you should go ahead and check in, because you get a free fountain drink. Order the tacos as they are, because a lot of effort and creativity went to find something that works in a combination. The pork belly taco has a sauce on it, cucumbers I think and watermelon on it. As an advid taco fan that would not have been my first choice for a topping, but you should always try things as they were designed at least the first time. I love Mexican food and this is not Mexican food, but if you love good food than come on down ot the White Duck Taco Shop.

Gave it another chance since I lambasted this place after last visit because it was just bad all around. And it still does not give free chips. I wanted to really like it this time and sure enough one of my 2 tacos were pretty good but the other, not so much and I got to eat my wife’s because she did not like it. I still think I am ordering badly and need to look closer at that and will give it one more try for 3 strikes or not. We were late for a movie that day so next time I go will look at Unilocal, pick out best taco per you guys and go with it. Maybe, just maybe I move up a star or two but Mexican style restaurants with pay for chips can score only a 4 on the best day in my book. Let’s hope it is a best day next time I go.

More taco talk comin right up. I am a fan of both the Asheville, NC and the James Island establishments here. The giant white duck calls to me. I heed its beckoning quack. You’re right, duck, I AM always in the mood for tacos. This location has an industrial park warehouse kind of ambiance, spiced up with colorful murals like the aforementioned duck behemoth, as well as one featuring Chewbacca in dad clothes and his wookiee family dreaming about tacos. The young staff at the counter were friendly, fast, and super efficient during every visit. Even during a fairly busy lunch rush, our orders came out to us with the quickness. We had for ourselves the trio salsas. Dug. Extra dug that the basket of chips fresh, warm chips that came with were refilled gratis by an employee scurrying by who took notice that were were running low. Generous wit the chips, over here. Here’s our taco rundown: The fish tacos were my favorite. If you likes em spicy you can request a little side ramekin of their green chile hot sauce that’ll add some heat and hit the spot. Tasty, tasty fresh fish tacos here. Also super loved the chilled lump crab tacos too. Lotsa sweet, delicious crab up in them fellers. Got the mushroom and potato on multiple visits. The first time I loooved the flavorful mash and romesco combination, hence the second ordering of those tacos. The second time, ehh I don’t know, they weren’t as tasty business, like maybe something was a-missin. So I don’t know what the real true mushroom tater version is, which I mention only to say, I’d get em again just to see. The only disappointment taco to date, for me, especially as a bean-lovin baby was the black bean variety. Big shrugaroo there. Kinda bland, fer me. Oh, there WAS one more disappointment for the olé girl at White Duck, but it wasn’t their bad. The sadness for me comes in reaction to the proclamation by my husband that the Bangkok Shrimp tacos were the best, best of them all. I can’t eat shrimp. Come on! «Late in life shrimp allergy, WHYYYY?!!» I rage with shaking fist into the sky. For real, one of the banes of my seafood lovin existence. Thank heavens I can still enjoy crab and all the mollusks. For now. Anyway, not your problem! The report on them tacos be this, according to muh dude: They’re perfectly cooked, crispy shrimp, coated in a sweet and lil spicy Thai-inspired glaze, topped with an deliciously crunchy pickle component. Eat them. Eat them, shrimp fans! Eat them while you can! I jealously quack.

I wanted to love this place– especially based on the menu. The service and atmosphere was absolutely fine, the food came out especially quickly, the portions are VERY generous, they had several vegetarian options, and the staff member at the register was able to make a helpful recommendation when we asked. So it does have all of that going for it. Sounds like a lot– and it is… but… The downside was that I really wasn’t jazzed by any of the three tacos I tried: the bahn mi, the black bean and cheese, or the potato and mushroom. The bahn mi was tofu based and unlike the firm, fried tofu I often find, theirs was extremely mushy and the texture really threw me off– plus it was not cut up and was just one huge mushy piece of tofu. The flavors were actually the best of the three, but I really couldn’t get over the texture of their tofu. The black bean was okay, they made the mashed beans, which I wasn’t expecting, but it was more or less as advertised. The potato and mushroom looked amazing, but the flavors just did not come together for me. Maybe the meat versions are better– as my boyfriend, a non vegetarian, seems much happier with his choice: the steak and cheese, Korean BBQ and duck taco. I hate to give a place three stars that seems like it really does a good job otherwise– but I just can’t say I get the hype.

Tasty. Although this restaurant is listed as Mexican, and serves mainly tacos, is is much more creative. I LOVED the Asheville location so I was super excited to get one here in Charleston. My sister who is vegetarian loved the many options. I enjoyed all tacos I have tried thus far. Today was my 2nd time at this location, that although is tucked behind a tattoo place, it has many tables both inside and out. My favorite is the duck taco which I have ordered every visit so far. Today the crispy pork belly was super tasty too.
