My boyfriend and I were walking by on a Friday night and saw that they had a vegan cupcake so we decided to go in. It was absolutely fantastic. The frosting was delicious. I went on Unilocal later on to rate the place and noticed that there were so many negative reviews. They must have redone the recipes or changed the baker because(at least the vegan cupcakes) were absolutely delicious.

I didn’t think it was possible to make a cupcake taste so bad. I stand corrected. Curly Cakes’ whimsical font and cutesy décor is only a Trojan horse for the culinary horrors that lie within. I unknowingly entered late last night looking for a last minute birthday dessert for my brother’s birthday, and got suckered in to spending $ 7.90 on TWO cupcakes. Yes, only two. I chose from their sad array of three flavors(apparently they only have up to five at any given time), Vanilla and Banana. Painfully uncreative. The woman at the cash register was uninterested and uninviting when I inquired more about the cupcakes, I was about to break the bank for. That should have been my first sign. The cupcakes were deceivingly good-looking with large gluttonous dollops of what would turn out to bland, flavorless whipped topping, good only for adding moisture to the dry, stale cake portion that lay below. I choked down my cupcake, literally, with a large glass of milk, forcing myself to finish it to prove that my $ 7.90 was not spent in vain. Sadly, it was. To add insult to injury the slice of banana that topped my cupcake was completely inedible and I had to spit it out as soon as the flavor of nail polish remover hit my palate. My brother had similar difficulties with his vanilla cupcake. All I can say is you’ve been warned.

This shop is so small and this is the fourth time I come in. They have not changed their selection at all in the past year. Also, the cupcakes are too dry and the frosting overwhelms the pallet, I recommend this place if you need a sweet fix right in that moment as you are passing the street, otherwise, wait.

The shop is cute but very tiny. Just a couple tables. It’s also very quiet, so you feel awkward lingering. The staff was polite but not especially welcoming. They had about five flavors to choose from when I was there. They all looked very pretty, but I was put off by some of the toppings on the frosting(big chunks of peanut butter cups, cocoa puffs, etc.). We got a red velvet cupcake. It tasted okay, not bad, but nothing special. The cake is a bit dry and crumbly(very messy to eat) and you get as much frosting as you do cake. The size was fine– good to share without sugar overload– but too expensive for what it was. For $ 4 I would expect more. As with most cupcake places, you’re paying to look at them more than eating them.

Not my favorite place. We had coffee and a cupcake there and were not too satisfied. We didn’t even finish the cake. Very small coffee shop with only two tables. The coffee was OK but the cupcake not so much. The store smells fantastic though!

Read that Curly Cakes(another Todd English venture) was opening officially soon, but delievery had already begun. Thus, our office ordered cupcakes to be delivered yesterday afternoon. While they all looked delicious in appearance and offered some unique flavors, the cake part for all the various ones we ordered was very dry. Like they had previously been frozen and thawed. For $ 3 each, they certainly weren’t worthy! These weren’t the«gourmet» cupcakes as was advertized.
