I hate this store. You might wonder how anyone can hate a grocery store? I didn’t think it was possible until we moved to Charlestown and were stuck with Jay C Foods. We now drive a good 10 – 15 minutes south to go to Kroger or Meijer. I am surprised that Jay C has been around for a very short period of time and yet it comes across as a grocery store that was built in the 1970s. The food selection is decent, but if you want to buy anything fresh or healthy, forget it. Everything is more expensive here. Meat. Produce. Cereal. Milk. I cannot find a single item that is cheaper here than anywhere else, and it’s probably because there is no competition. The store itself looks old, small, and just doesn’t impress. It’s tough enough to find time or the motivation to go grocery shopping, and going to Jay C depresses me. I’d rather go to Rite Aid, which has a better beer selection and has friendlier staff working there. What a sad state for a grocery store. If you need a quick stop and have NO other choices around, go here. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and drive a bit further south to find better prices, better selection, better service, and an all-around better atmosphere. Oh, Charlestown, can’t you do anything right?

This place stinks. There is no selection, and some things are ridiculously expensive. It feels extremely outdated even though it’s not that old. It took me 15 minutes to get some deli meat once(and I was the only one in line) while the employee fumbled around for what I wanted and figured out how to use the slicer. This place is right around the corner from me, yet I drive 9 miles to go to Meijer. That’s pretty sad.

It’s a grocery; what can you say other that the store is clean and the aisles kept clutter free. But the thing that really stood out to me is the service, its very good! Maybe its the small town that makes people generally happier or friendlier, I don’t know, but the cashiers, bag men and managers all seem super helpful. One even walked back down an aisle with me to help me find something. These observations were made on several trips this week.
