I went here recently with my parents and girlfriend after visiting the Bunker Hill monument and was very impressed overall. The interior was very modern and stylish and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing when we visited on a Sunday afternoon. In addition, the staff was quite friendly and courteous. Collectively, we ordered sandwiches, some pastries, and coffee/tea, which offered a good cross-section of Sorelle’s menu. The consensus was that the baked goods and sandwich were top-notch, and most of us enjoyed the beverages as well. I ordered a cranberry scone and cup of Joe, both of which were to my liking. The scone was loaded with real cranberries(not the dessicated type loaded with preservatives) and the glazed icing was just sweet enough to complement the tartness of the cranberries without being excessively sugary. You won’t be bouncing off the walls after eating one of these, which is always a good thing in my book. My girlfriend likewise thought my scone was tasty and loved her chipotle chicken wrap. I had a bite of it and agreed. It contained good quality, fresh ingredients, chipotle mayo was not too salty, and the wrap was soft and doughy. We differed in our opinion of the coffee, however. I thought it was excellent(rich in flavor and not too acidic), while my girlfriend thought it was pretty average. That being said, we both appreciated the various types of non-dairy milks(almond, soy, etc.) Sorelle offered to its customers on a self-serve coffee bar. My parents ordered maple oatmeal scones, which they really enjoyed. I had a taste and agreed. The maple oatmeal scone was similar to my cranberry scone in that it was not overly sweet, and the scone had a sweet, nutty flavor to it, courtesy of the maple glaze and type of oats they used in baking. My dad ordered a frozen pumpkin spice latte(yes, in November), which he loved. My mom was likewise fond of her(hot) spiced chai latte. Overall, all four of us were very glad we made it in to Sorelle and I would definitely return the next time I am in the area. I am unclear as to why such a great café has such middle-of-the-road reviews, and would encourage potential patrons to read multiple reviews before writing it off.

Horrible, horrible coffee. Sandwiches and wraps are good, but please never order coffee here!

I work down the street from this place so i have likely eaten here about 15 – 20 times in the last couple years. I think that I am disappointed in my experience just about every time. They market themselves well and the food is a little pricy. But average as can be with poor ingredients. There parfaits are all right. Do yourself a favor and walk down the street to American bakers coffee. Today was a perfect example. American bakers is closed for renovations so i went here. Ordered a breakfast sandwich. They were out of bagels. Ok fine put it on bread. I get it to go. When i sit down to eat the eggs are like square patty eggs and they gave me a bread end on my sandwich! Also ordered a grilled PB&J. Turns out they did not grill it… Come on guys step it up.

I want to love Sorelle because I live right down the street, but it just isn’t great. They need to get new bagels and baked good. The bagels are bad whereas the baked goods just aren’t great(and there are so many better options just in the North End).

We used to go here more regularly, as we live in Charlestown and the sandwiches and coffee used to be so good. But this place has really gone downhill. First, a lot of the staff are very surly. Smiling appears to be a luxury and they make your feel like your order, and presence, is an inconvenience. And the manager often sits around the place, holding court with his buddies, and doing nothing. Second, the coffee now often tastes burnt. Not sure if they’re using a different roast or what but you can get better coffee elsewhere. The sandwiches are still decent and there’s good variety. But whether your sandwich is well prepared to sloppy depends on the staff that day. Third, the place is looking shabby — cracked seats, lighting fixtures falling apart, etc.

This used to be a trendy, quality, friendly café. What has happened is that it is clear that the owners no longer care. Seating is tattered and duct-taped, furnishings are dated and worn, hot sauce squeeze bottles are encrusted with dried drippings on the top. It’s as if someone had a long spell of depression and is no longer invested. I would suggest looking for a alternative.

I have gotten food from here twice and it is okay. I was going to order a salad but I did not like how it was already pre made in a refrigerator. I decided to get a sandwich. They have a lot of options to chose from. I got the eggplant one the first time and the chicken salad the second time. I thought the chocked salad had WAY to much mayo. It was dripping. The sandwiches were okay. Nothing special. The employees were also not very friendly. I could not decide what I wanted and the girl at the register was trying to rush me. I was there around 230 so it was not busy or anything. I thought she was very rude. I asked her what she suggested and she goes«everything is good». Like okay… very helpful. Probably will not be back.

On a day where we had hours to kill before our evenings engagement we ventured out to see the U.S.S. Constitution and arrived around lunch time. We saw this place and wondered in and got something to eat. I had a turkey sandwich and it was pretty good.

I love a good breakfast and Sorelle served it up! I had the egg white, dill havarti sandwhich, a tri berry scone and an americano. It was too much for one person, but I just had to have it all. My husband ordered the apple pie(looked like a big muffin) and it was SO good! I really wanted a maple scone that they had listed, but we arrived past 10 and they had sold out.

Simply my least favorite eatery in Boston. Harsh words, but more than deserved in my opinion. Since I’ve lived in Charlestown, I’ve probably visited the city square Sorelle about 10 times. The consistency with which the experience leaves me angry — more like in shock — is remarkable. The apathy of the staff is so outrageously«in your face.» There are virtually no systems for taking orders, which inevitably results in errors and significant delays. If you go sit down in the place for 15 minutes, you will undoubtedly see something go wrong. And the food id a joke. I will eat a bagel with cream cheese ANYWHERE — but I just can’t stomach the ones from Sorelle. After my last visit, despite the convenient location, I finally said enough is enough. No more Sorelle for me. This is an embarrassment to Charlestown.

Never again. Ordered one apple pie with cream, gets apple with no cream. «We’re sold out» why didnt you tell me? Couldn’t get another one. The pie tasted so bad.

Space is nice but that’s it. Restroom are not very clean. Espresso is just ok, not bad but not excellent. I stopped here because I was very cold on the way to the freedom trail. Staff is not very friendly… 2 stars because it’s quiet and you do not look for a table like small coffee stores. And because I can charge my phone easily :-)

I am officially done with this place. Had I written this review a few hours ago while still there — waiting on an order of 2 cold sandwiches for OVER25MINUTES — I would have said I HATE this place. But now that some time has passed and my heart rate and blood pressure have started to return to normal, I will simply leave it that I will never go back. I have been incredibly disappointed one too many times. Besides the fact that everything is overpriced, the coffee drinks are mediocre, and the food is underwhelming and inconsistent, what IS consistent here is the overt apathy and borderline rudeness of the staff — and I’m not just talking about one or two people, I mean literally every single person I have seen working there in the 4 years I’ve lived in Charlestown and begrudgingly patronized this place. No smiles, and less than half-hearted attempts at making anything look more than mildly appetizing.(Side note: I also think it’s ridiculous that the microwaves they use to nuke many of the things on the menu are in full view of the customers who just spent an arm and a leg on what they are slapping together and shoving in a microwave.) Also, the root of the ridiculous wait — which was extreme today but is a regular issue — is that there is no rhyme or reason to the order in which they fulfill tickets; my husband and I sat there and watched nearly a dozen people come and go with their orders while we waited for ours(which, again, did not require any heating — microwaved or otherwise!). What a ludicrous business model. The problem is they have no incentive to change and will probably stay in business because they’re one of the only gigs in town, AND they have prime real estate on the Freedom Trail, allowing them to continually benefit from unknowing tourists.(And the restrooms, of course, are only for«customers,» so the poor souls are forced to buy some overpriced item.) It’s a shame that this is part of their experience in Charlestown. But I, for one, will never go there again, and you shouldn’t either!

Nice place, next time I’ll come back and try the food and grab some coffee. This is where we stopped on the Duck tour. So grabbing anything to drink would have been inappropriate. In any event, the owner/manager was understanding despite me ignoring the no public restroom signs. I think this place deserves an honorable mention for cooperating with the Ducks!

Bagels are great but everything else they offer is not. Pizza tastes so bad it leaves a filmy layer and lingering aftertaste for the remainder of the day

I was in Charlestown for an all day meeting, and really wanted to grab some coffee and breakfast before going to the building(and I also needed some guidance on where it was). Sorelle looked like the only option for several blocks which I found strange for a location near a tourist attraction, hotel, and an business park. Their prices were expensive. I would hate to rely on them for a coffee or breakfast every day. The bagel was nothing special; I got an Asiago with egg and cheese and the egg portion was tiny as was the cheese, plus the bagel was burnt. I tried the mocha latte and it wasn’t that great either. Very hot, but when it cooled down it was tasty enough. I liked the layout of the restaurant and it looked like a good place to sit and eat. The man behind the counter gave me totally wrong directions to the place I was looking for and I ended up wasting over twenty minutes walking two blocks out of my way which I didn’t appreciate. I guess don’t ask for directions if you stop in there for a coffee!

This has to be the most inconveniently located café ever. I personally don’t mind, I’m just perplexed why anyone would open a café here; it’s bad business. Someone misinterpreted what«location, location, location» means. I’m surprised I wasn’t the only one here when I entered, not to say this place is particularly occupied. There’s a guy sitting on his Macbook, a quiet couple in their mid-thirties, two older ladies in the back corner, and two apathetic twenty-somethings behind the counter– honestly, I don’t blame them for their apathy. The space is adorable and spacious; it has a pleasant atmosphere with soft colors. As approachable as it is, though, it’s about as exciting as homemade blancmange, and has about as much personality too. — My chicken Tuscan sandwich was pretty good. Nothing to write home about, but I enjoyed it, the veggies were fresh and it filled me up. The sourdough bread interestingly enough was the most noteworthy part of the sandwich. I want to say it was expensive, but it was a pretty average price for a city café. Maybe all café sandwiches are expensive. — The coffee is not good. Pass. Equal Exchange Café isn’t too far away, if you were looking for decent coffee in the area. — The soup of the day(minestrone) was OK. More to not write home about. — Boylan’s soda. Yum. The next time I ever find myself asking, «why on fucking earth am I in the Navy Yard?» I probably won’t go looking for this place. I’m not adverse to coming back but Sorelle does not excite me, it’s not the kind of place that draws me in with its charm, its quality, its personality or its service. It feels like it could be a major chain with a little tweaking. One song from a Broadway musical says, «I’d rather be nine people’s favorite thing than a hundred people’s ninth favorite thing.» The owners of this café would seem to disagree vehemently with that philosophy. I can’t see many people hating Sorelle, but I can’t see many people loving it either. Does anyone actually love blancmagne?

Always disappointed. The food looks delicious, but it always has its problems. I had a vegetarian panini the other day that was atrocious! The eggplant was dry as paper which made it inedible. The sandwich was premade so they only had to grill it, but that resulted in all of the veggie’s flavors being drawn out by the bread for who knows how many days! The sandwich was awful. Another time I got a salad and was sick for the rest of the evening. I had one bite of the dressing and after discovering it was yucky, I ate the salad without dressing. The lettuce must have been bad as well. I give the place 2 stars because the bagels are usually pretty good, and the people are alright. It’s not a dump of a place, but it’s not for lunch at all. Coffee and bagels are all I will get from Sorelle from now on.

Um, not so much. I liked you at first, but changed my mind. They have screwed up a couple of my orders on different occasions and didn’t even offer me a refund since it’s ridiculously priced in here. I do appreciate that they allow you to bring dogs on the patio though and provide a big bowl of water for them. I will stop in here occasionally if I need something, otherwise, there are plenty of other places to go instead.

Going to school in the Navy Yard is kind of the pits. Sure, the scenery is nice, but unless you like paying $ 12 for a sandwich, trekking to Tavern on the Water in a Nor’easter or eating all your meals at Store24, you learn pretty quickly that you better BYOL or get friendly with the MGH cafeteria… …until you find Sorelle. Beverage: Coffee’s good(only $ 1 for a small) and they also have Diet Coke in a can; pick your poison. They serve beer and wine out of a cooler and have a nice collection of tables and chairs – which migrates outside in the warmer months for partial marina and full street views, creating an exhausty/salt-spray ambiance. Breakfast: This place has Montréal-style(aka dry and bready) bagels, so I tend to stick with the quiches(love), yogurt and granola parfait or a delicious muffin. If you’re into the north-of-the-border bagels, they do have a nice selection of cream cheeses. Lox = yum. Do it. Lunch: The pressed pork cubano is probably my favorite lunch option, but if you’re keeping kosher or just not into it, there are a ton of other choices including a delicious chicken salad sandwich, a salad with salmon on it or an individual pizza which does not involve salad in any way. Lunch usually runs me about $ 10 and I’m rarely disappointed. Dessert: I’m more into the salty-greasy than the sticky-sweet, but if you want it they have a big case of gourmet desserts that looks pretty, if not pretty interesting. Service: Order at the counter, seat yourself. Minus one star for bready bagels, consistently leaky coffee cups and subsequent dry-cleaning expenses.
