I needed a haircut and went to Blis. Usually I am the thrifty Super Cuts guy. I called to make a appointment and was immediately greeted with a warm welcome. They were most accommodating to my very tight schedule. Upon entering I was greeted immediately with a sincere hello and welcome. I felt they truly valued my business and wanted me to have the best experience possible. They offered a soda. My stylist immediately walked and escorted me to my chair. We talked about previous haircuts etc. She truly paid attention to my needs and want for my haircut. Professional look with low maintenance. She nailed it… The shampoo experience was just the start to the great service. My scalp has never felt so good. I will never ever go to a so called«budget» chop shop again. Best haircut ever. I can just wet it down run a brush through it and be ready. I never knew what a real haircut was like. Now I do Thanks Blis. You have a new lifetime customer.

I was rather surprised to see the poor reviews because I’ve never had anything but a great experience at Blis. I get the Ouidad cut from Jennifer and she has never been anything but professional and very sweet. Even though every other stylist I’ve ever been to has looked at my thick curly hair and groaned at the idea of blowing it dry and styling it, Jennifer offered to do it anytime I wanted. I’m so happy there is a salon in North Carolina that offers Ouidad because until I found them, I spent a lot of time really frustrated with my hair.

I strongly do NOT recommend anyone with curly hair going here. When you walk out of a salon and someone asks you«what happened to your hair», you know it was especially bad. I’ve had naturally curly hair for all of my over 40 years, and those with naturally curly hair know, we know curly hair best. I travel a lot for my job, & have been able to get my hair cut by the Oiudad salon in NYC& other Ouidad certified stylists around the country, as well as by other«curl specialists» that use other curly hair techniques. Having went through the struggle to find quality professionals to trust with my curly hair, I feel it is my duty to others with curly hair to pass along my experience at Blis Salon & what I’ve learned through the years. The cut Brenda gave me was far cry from anything close to a Ouidad cut & had no modern style to it at all. Though it was nice have felt like I was taken back to the early ‘90s, maybe even ‘80s, hair styles have come a long way since then and there are a lot of knowledgeable and gifted curly hair stylists that can give you a cut that has the modern style of at least in the last 10 years. Brenda may have over 30 years of experience cutting hair, but her cut style matches that of when she started cutting hair. The cut she gave me was the worst haircut I’ve had in my 40 years. I am not saying that the Ouidad technique isn’t good, it is. I’m saying Brenda does not know what she is doing when it comes to cutting curly hair. I left there looking like a poodle with kinky curly flappy ears from the way she cut my bangs. This was the style, unfortunately, from the early ‘90s before people really starting to know how to cut curly hair. You can use that technique of framing the face for straight hair, but not for curly. Through the years, I’ve found some key things to look for in your curly hair stylist: –They listen to what you have to say about your hair. After all, don’t you know your own hair best? I was *trying* to explain my hair type, what I like to do with it, and how I like to have it cut to Brenda, but she did not want to hear it. She would interrupt me and say she knows curly hair and what it needs. Every time I tried to tell her something, I couldn’t get a full sentence out because she would interrupt me and explain how she knows exactly what to do with curly hair. She does not have a clue on how to cut & work with curly hair. Her cut was the worst I’ve ever had. Ever. I told her I did not want my bangs done like she did them. She did not listen to even the little I was able to get out. –They have curly hair themselves. I’m not saying that someone with straight hair cannot be good at cutting curly hair. I’m saying the best cuts I’ve had come from people that have curly hair. Its as if you have to have curly hair to really fully get it and know how to work with it. –They know modern hair styles and how to create them with curly hair. No doubt the style Brenda learned 30 years ago was what was fresh and new 30 years ago, but a good stylist remains current with hair styles and can create them successfully. Brenda would really benefit from learning more current hair styles. So, fellow curly cues, please save yourself a lot of money and a lot of anguish and do not let Brenda at Blis Salon touch your beautiful curly hair. I’m able to get my hair cut perfectly by others for half the price. Yes, I said half the price. These are my words of wisdom, from one curly cue to all others. I feel a civic duty to share what I’ve learned to others with curly hair. Be well. Do not go to Blis to get your curly hair cut. Brenda should stick to cutting straight hair. It could only be better, I would hope.

Purchased a Groupon for haircut and partial foils. Brenda was my stylist. I had read other reviews to stay away from her but I didn’t have a choice when I showed up to my appointment. She used color for my highlights instead of bleach — she said it was better for my hair. I thought how weird but guess she knows what she is doing. I told her I wanted caramel blond highlights like the ones that had grown out. She said no problem. After she blew out my hair, she was really proud of her work, I was still not sure. When I got in the car, I could see that my hair actually was reddish color in the crown of my head and not any shade of blond. Looked like she used the 15 minute root touch up on my hair and missed the darker roots. Definitely decided I wouldn’t go back to her. Then over the past weekend I get a voice message from her on Sunday advising that she was opening her own business up and she wanted me to call her for details. I wonder if she is still at the salon and if they know she is already soliciting their clients. Another thing, they specialize in care of curly hair which I have — I was never told about any of these services. Also, the receptionist never asked if I wanted to book my next appointment. These are 2EPICFAILS for the salon. Like the previous review, there are many other salons to go to — don’t waste your time at this one!
