Prepare to have your frozen food held hostage while they name their price. I had a bad experience going through the authorized Kenmore dealer, so I thought I would try this place, which has good reviews on another site. I had a simple refrigerator repair, and told the operator over the phone the model number of the fridge and the part it needed. I considered doing it myself, but the part was only $ 30 – 40 online, and I figured I could afford the simple installation. Service technician arrives in personal car, no uniform, talking on the phone to someone else. I was concerned enough to ask for a business card, which didn’t have his name on it. He checked the fridge, and it needed the part I mentioned. He then told me it would be $ 239. I asked how long it would take, and he said 10 minutes. I asked for his hourly rate or just a breakdown of parts and labor costs, and he threw up his hands and said«your refrigerator is broken. That’s what it costs.» I called the company, and got the same line – they wouldn’t quote parts and labor separately, and when I asked how they justified the equivalent of $ 1200 an hour in labor, they said, «your refrigerator is broken.» The company would come down 15%(so if you’re zany enough to call them, make sure you get that discount), but no more. I offered to pay $ 180, but they refused, so the guy packed up in a huff and went home with his $ 45 service fee. Moral of the story: don’t make the mistake of having your fridge broken, as these people then think they can hold you and your ice cream hostage for whatever price they choose. Good luck, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, but especially women, as the unmarked car and anonymous technician scenario was very creepy.
