NIce little brewery in NODA they brew excellent beer and have a really nice space to just relax and drink a beer in. We tend to always try out something new when we go here and never get the same thing twice. They always have a food truck outside and they have board games to sit down and play with your friends. They seem to do a lot of events with other local businesses in the area, so its really great to be able to sample and see so many great Local NC business’s and products.

Recently held a graduate school graduation party in the back section of Free Range. Jeff, the owner, was helpful, kind and informative. We provided each party guest with a ticket for a bar purchase and everyone raved about the beer and variety of choices. The bartenders were very knowledgeable and helped find the perfect selection for you. I personally loved the cider/beer hybrid. I enjoyed the vibe of Free Range and it provided the ideal location for our event.

Great atmosphere. Not really digging the beer though. We tried four different half-pints, and all kind of tasted the same. I would have like to do a flight, but they don’t do them.

Decent little brewery with decent selection. I like this place. The Taprrom and setup are great. They also have a food truck station outside when you need a bite. Haven’t ventured here before. I guess I’m not overly impressed with the brews. The darker they get the more they taste the same. The ABV is good. I’m just not overly impressed with the general taste. Nothing horrible, but not something that will draw me back. As far as the folks and the setup: 5 Stars. I love the people, the music, and the aesthetics. #Goodtimes. I think they have lots of potential for us beer snobs. I also think that I’d you don’t care about all the tidbits of craft beer you should definitely hangout. These are good people and they will make sure your having a good time.

I visited Free Range right when they opened so it was my group of friends and a few other people in the brewery at that time. I loved the beers, the service, and corn hole! Drinking does not make me a better corn hole player, unfortunately.

My daughter Niccole(a die hard foodie too) took me here because I’m brand spankin’ new to the Charlotte area. Hearing all about how many of the NCBREWERIES have supported each other and raised the bar, pun intended, for beer drinkers has been an awesome afternoon out, especially on a Sunday! I can’t wait to come back for the people, the best food provided by local establishments, the music and the BEER!!!

Great atmosphere, A-OK beer! I feel like Free Range Brewing is catering more towards: groups, children(here me out, they’re not encouraging underage drinking!), an older crowd. If you’re looking for a large selection of great beer, I recommend you hit up Noda Brewing Company across the street. If you are looking for a larger space, beautiful atmosphere, child friendly area(yes, they have a carpeted«children’s corner» or good place for a big group, this might be your spot. The brewery consists of two large and open spaces. The first houses the brew tanks, band area, small table tops and bar(seating and drink service). The second room is home to bar games, board games and long picnic table styles seating. The two rooms are adjoined by a large garage door and the«kiddie corner». What you won’t find at Free Range Brewing are flights(this comes off as a bit odd in this age of craft beer drinking), although you CAN sample and/or order a half pint of anything on the board. I tried the Abstract Art, labeled a «juicy IPA» which is actually a pale ale. It was okay but not something I’d specifically return for. After my first experience, I’d return for the atmosphere, but not the beer.

There is better beer in Charlotte. Free Range has a great location in Noda, in fact, right across from Noda brewing. A great open space with high ceilings, a beautiful wooden bar, tables in the bar room, and an extra large patio out back, which was being used for a knitting event while we were there. Loved the atmosphere, though i didn’t love the beer. I had the Dry Oatmeal Stout, which wasn’t really up to par with my love of stouts. .I also tried the American IPA(not great), and the walkin, talkin, pickin man, which left a bit of an aftertaste. I think the best beer I tried was the Barrel-aged Carolina Farmhouse. Maybe stop here for a brew on your way to the other breweries.

I really liked this brewery in NoDa. Their brown ale, Bob’s Pure Intentions, was great! Had a nice coffee flavor to it and was really smooth. Also tried the pumpkin porter, and it was decent. Plenty of parking which is always appreciated! Dog friendly which is a plus too(they said dogs are only allowed on the patio and in the back«warehouse» area, but people had them in the taproom too). Loved the rural, farm equipment theme. It’s a little different than the Charlotte brewery norm. Thumbs up!

Solid brewery in Noda. Love the open layout and they have a solid selection of beers. I really love it when breweries offer ½ pints! Join in for free yoga at the brewery on Thursdays!

Awesome spot. Great beer, atmosphere, and cool staff. I had an American IPA, the Hop To My Heart My Darling, and it was really good! Not too hoppy and even has a hint of citrus. They have art, music, and games. Looking forward to coming here again on my next visit to Charlotte!

Just when you thought NoDa couldn’t possibly have room for another craft brewery, and squeezed in between the now *Old* locations of NoDa Brewing and Birdsong, Free Range jumps into the fray and makes quite a splash. Reborn is a garage with a sleek taproom that eliminated the wall between the brewing equipment and the tap room, and creates a relaxing, inviting page that is a nice mix of rustic, artsy, and reclaimed/vintage chic that all the cool kids want to see and be seen in these days. Now open Wednesday through Saturday, look for a different food truck each day that makes Free Range both a spot for a clod draft and a spot to catch a quick, though tasty, meal as well. There is floor space for Yoga or small events and an outdoor seating area as well, a long bar runs almost the length of the tap room with a crisp, white tile backing. Old bus seats and plastic chairs that are a throw-back to your school days add to the chill, rustic vibe that runs thru this place. But let’s talk about the beer, which is they primary reason you go to a brewery in the first place, right?! Solid efforts here that will run across a range of palettes. Ales, Porters and an IPA or 2 are usual candidates, along with some seasonal one-offs that may be worth a shot. I tend toward the IPA side of things and the efforts here are stellar– well hopped, dry but with a depth of flavor. If you are luck enough to visit with the Double IPA is on tap, grab it and send me a thank-you later. It is, in one word: Awesome. And then there are their collaborations with coffee here– Free Range has parted with local roaster Pure Intentions to create some unique offerings. Not to mention cold brew nitro on tap all the time as well. This is a unique feature in a brewery and offers a nice alternative to those looking for something other than a beer. In all, Free Range is a solid addition to the craft beer scene and their tap room is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Do drop in and share their love and passion for craft beer– it shows in both the space and the brew in your glass.

Cool Tractor Themed Brewery. We stopped in on a raining Saturday to get a feel for the new brewery that we heard a lot about. I am not sure if it was just because it was a Sat, afternoon, or if there was a family function going on, but man there were a lot of children there. I am not sure if they just cater to families more, but this is the most child/family focused brewery I have stopped at. They had lots of space for them to run and books/toys in a corner. The beer was good, they come in small offerings, normally smaller than the standard pint. Pretty much everything was easy drinking and could be enjoy on any type of day. Fun thing, try and see how many tractor logos are stationed around the building. T-shirts dont count.

I was super excited to try this brewery after reading the good reviews. I loved the tile display behind the tap handles, let you taste buds roam. Boyfriend and I really enjoyed the Call Me Mel & Call Me F.H. which is a brown ale(ask what it means). It will be interesting to see what they do with this space, I think that they have a few great options! I can’t wait to return next time that I am in the area!

Wow, hip & classy! Everything looks so crisp & clean — love the décor and calming atmosphere :) They don’t have cans of anything yet to take home, they don’t have flights, but they do have 4oz. pours that are small enough to carry 3 glasses in one hand! Best Tip about this place: there is a big tractor out front!

Glad to welcome NoDa’s newest brewery to the neighborhood! This one has been a while in the making, and as soon as I walked in the door for the first time, I understood why. The layout and the atmosphere show a real attention to detail in creating a laid back, rustic, artsy vibe. A few logistical things to note if you’re planning to visit. First off, it’s only open Thursday through Saturday. Second, they do have food trucks onsite when they are open including one of my favorites: Ooowee BBQ. Third, they do have their own parking lot. There is outdoor seating, a good sized bar and tables on the inside, and an unobstructed view of the big olé barrels where the beer is brewed. Pretty cool. The chairs at the tables inside are old classroom chairs and old school bus seats which is a nice touch. So far, I’ve only tried a couple of the beers: Jenny Bought a Farm and Bob’s Pure Intentions. Bob’s Pure Intentions stood out to me as it’s a collaboration with the local coffee folks and it’s really nice if you like java. This place has tons of potential. I hope to see it make its way into local bars and restaurants in the future. In the meantime, they have an awesome venue to hang at.

What a gorgeous place! Check out the funky antique store next door that’s open pretty late. Check Free Range’s hours as they are closed on Sunday Funday. Bonus points for being across from Amelie’s, can’t go wrong there. Why four stars? — plenty of parking — HUGE they have a whole nother chill space in the back for cornhole and chillaxing –seats have backs, yeah I’m getting old. Who wants to drink at a picnic bench all night. — Beer? Oh that’s yummy and interesting combinations.

I have been waiting for this brewery to open for close to 2 years. I first encountered them at one of the beer fests a few years ago. So I’ve been following them for a while. I was already in NoDa when a friend texted me that Free Range was opening at 5pm on July 3rd, 2015 so I was right there when they opened. The brewery is probably the smallest in Charlotte. Unlike most breweries in CLT, the brewing equipment and the taproom share the same space and there is no real separation except for a sign on a chain. Still this is a well planned space. As you enter, the brewing equipment is on the left and the bar next. Table seating is on your right. There is also a kids area just beyond the bar. This is the first time I’ve seen a kids area at a brewery. Maybe this will keep them off of the bar seats? Anyway, I sat at the bar, looked over the menu and started with the Oyster Stout which was good but not as good as the Bob’s Pure Intentions Coffee brown ale which was amazing and what I stuck to for the rest of my stay. The staff was great although a bit scattered at times. There were 6 people working behind the bar and they often ignored people sitting at the middle of the bar which is where I was But thankfully I was siting near people who knew the owners and they would flag people down. I chalk this up to opening day chaos. This visit was worth the wait. And the best thing is this place is across the street from NoDa brewing… or at least what will become NoDa’s second location very soon. I see this brewery becoming very popular.

Excellent! It’s all going according to plan! Soon we will overtake Asheville and steal the Brew City title away! Boo hah hah(evil laugh)! Great addition to NODA. A stones throw from Amelie’s. The tap room was pickety packed to the gills! Love the décor and the mosaic over the bar! Tractors in Charlotte? Why not! The beer is pretty dang good — the Pale Ale was so smooth — an all afternoon hot sun drinking beer. The oyster stout was spot on — another hit. If you can find a seat or a spot at the bar, then come get you some!
