Great diner food! Great atmosphere! Friendly staff! I’ve been there a couple of times and have gotten the BLT, fried chicken, and breakfast sandwiches. It’s typical diner food, so be prepared to get your food a little greasy but with popping flavors. It is the best diner food that I’ve had in Charlotte!

I have heard a ton about this place and it is always packed anytime I pass by it. I finally made it here and tried the Coconut Crunch French Toast with Fried Chicken. The meal was extremely good and only $ 11 so pretty cheap for how much food it was. I had the deep dish pecan pie for dessert and it left a little bit to be desired. It wasn’t bad but I would recommend trying one of the other pies.

I couldn’t even tell you what was best. The absolutely incredible menu, the tasty and very fresh food, or the amazing staff you want to bring home and make your best friends or neighbors. We went twice in 24 hours. No trip to Charlotte should miss a trip to Midnight Diner, and since they are open 24/7, you can fit them in for any meal.

I have been here a few times and really enjoyed my meals here on every occasion. The coconut French toast is particularly outstanding and the waitstaff is extremely friendly as well. If you’re looking for a diner in Charlotte, look no further!

As one of the only eateries within walking distance of my location, MD was slightly above average. Ordered the Midnight Special — two eggs, choice of grits or hash browns, 4 different meats and 2 pancakes(subbed a waffle for $ 1 $) Pluses — Breakfast served all day. Service was good, not too much, not too little. Coffee served in large, heavy duty mug. Food(with the exception of the bacon) was cooked properly and served hot and relatively quickly. Minuses — bacon was undercooked and rubbery. Waffle was good but unremarkable. No idea why there’s a dollar surcharge to swap out. No sugar substitute on table. 50s music(while appreciated) was waaay too loud. The single $ rating is misleading. Kinda pricey. Can get the same meal with equal quality at a Waffle House for $ 5 less. For a short order motif, the broad«no substitution» policy is puzzling Bottom line — if you’re in the area, a decent place to dine. Will try the non-breakfast fare another day

The freaking sweet tea is freaking awesome and the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich… well, you’d have to be an ass to mess that up. Now the service: the service is subpar. I have been at least 7 times and half of those times have been orders called in for pickup. The women on the phone are usually pretty rude and rush you off but I guess that is because they are also running around to tables, either way, each customer should get the time they need if they are ordering, paying for their food AND have the opportunity to tip you. When you go in for pickup, you typically have to wrestle an elephant and do a handstand to get anyone to pay attention to you so that you may pay for your food which is sitting RIGHT behind the counter waiting to be paid for and eaten. Great place to go for the quality of food and is open 24 hours. Will return here so long as I worked 5 minutes from this place.

Standard diner breakfast food. Had the western omelet with hashbrowns and rye toast, and boyfriend had something called the Bubba, which was just a bunch of stuff smothered in sausage gravy. If you’re into stuff like that he said it was good. I like both my hashbrowns and toast a little more done than they came out. Overall, large portion sizes, low prices and quick service. Plus there is just something about the diner atmosphere.

They were packed at night of course! The wait wasn’t too bad. Very loud at night because everyone is drunk and hungry. I got the shrimp and grits and it was by far the best I’ve had. Service was great even tho they were busy. I would go again. Even if I wasn’t in the area and I wanted some shrimp and grits. I’d drive there just for it.

Went at around 4 today and it wasn’t packed like it would’ve been in the evening(which is a good thing)! Food came out super quick and tastes fresh. Our server, Tiffany, was very sweet and attentive too. Will be coming back again, probably for some late night munchies. Heh.

The Food was Delicious! But the initial service was lacking. We came in around 9:30pm and place was packed. We were seated immediately but it took someone 15 minutes to even ask us for water. Once we got a server,(CC) she was pleasant and apologized for the shift change wait. Nice smile and very sweet. Once our order was placed the food was out in 10 minutes, Hot and Fresh. I had the Fried Chicken, Biscuit, Mash Potatoes/gravy & the Famous 4 Cheese Mac&Cheese. The chicken was delicious! Seasoned and cooked just right. The potatoes were smashed and not instant and the Mac and cheese was pretty good, not the best I’ve ever had but still good. That Biscuit however was one of the best! Yum yum yum yum yum! I’ll be back to try the Shrimp and Grits. I did taste my Husbands Chili Cheese Fries and I’ll be back for those too! That Chili was GOOD!

The shrimp and grits was amazing! The Grits was nice and creamy. The shrimp was cooked just right with sauteed vegetables! Served with a light fluffy biscuit! It was absolutely delicious!

It’s in a great location in downtown Charlotte. The inside atmosphere is great and as far as the food, they definitely give you your money’s worth and it’s open 24 hours. No excuses! I had the Bubba, two biscuits with scrambled eggs and cheese covered in sausage gravy with grits on the side! The grits are super smooth, the best I’ve had.

You can expect a wait if you visit this small but popular diner. I’m happy to report that the Shrimp n’ Grits dish was worth the wait. Creamy grits are paired with shrimp covered in flavorful creole sauce. You’ll feel satisfied and eager to explore other popular dishes,

First, let me say that I DO like this place. It’s been said by someone that it’s hard to mess up breakfast and, well, Midnight Diner prepares what I would call a decent breakfast. I think Midnight Diner is more about the cool, funky diner atmosphere and at any given hour(open 24 hours a day except for Christmas) contains all walks of life — which I love. We waited for a table for a bit and were seated in a plush red booth. I ordered an omelet and your standard breakfast fare. Again, decent. Nothing to write home about but certainly — good. That day there were random tables of strangers arguing back and forth about the best NFL teams which was mildly interesting/annoying. Oddly enough, the Panthers were not being discussed. Anyway, I digress… This place is an interesting and fun choice when you are in the mood to hang out in a lively diner on the fringe of Uptown Charlotte.

Back for a second time in two days. First day had the chicken and waffles. The chicken was piping hot and good. The waffle was a bit bland for my taste. I thought it was odd that the«buttery spread»(I learned was not real butter later) would not melt. My boyfriend had the pancakes, which I also thought were bland and also had the spread that just sat there. I guess I’m funny about real butter and expected more real, homey ingredients to go along with the nostalgic vibe. I’m also funny about being cold. It was freezing in the diner, which also likely contributed to the unmelted spread. I would come back given the proximity to my place. The best item I’ve tried this far is the chicken.

One of the few places open late night in Charlotte to dine in besides a pizza joint. I found this place on Unilocal and people raved about the shrimp and grits so I wanted to find out what is all about. I must say it really lives up to the hype. It’s made to order served in a large soup bowl and a biscuit to sop up the rest of your sauce. Grits were creamy and savory delicious. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. When I was done I wanted to lick the bowl so I didn’t waste any of it. But I didn’t because I’m in a public establishment. The place looks like a classic diner, long a and narrow but plenty of seating. Even after midnight the place was pretty busy. The servers were very nice and attentive. I will definitely be coming back here the next time I’m in Charlotte.

Yummy 24 hour a day. Always great service. This is my go restaurant in Charlotte, NC. There are no bad menu items and nothing to avoid. Warning because the food is delicious, plentiful, and the service is great — this diner is always jumping. People flow in and out so the wait is usually less than you expect and the time you wait is always worth the delay. I have had every meal breakfasr, lunch, dinner and after the club meal here. All wonderful, always great service. I love the retro look it is so comfy and cozy. This diner even has a jukebox you can deposit your coins into to play your favorite tunes. During my last visit, I enjoyed breakfast pancakes, bacon, eggs and coffee. My pancakes had pumpkin added(real pumpkin not the flavoring) and they were huge and amazing culinary treats. Did I mention that they have toasted coconut french bread toast? Great. Splendiforous! The staff never changes and that us because the owner is so sweet and engaging. Everyone checks on you not just your waiter. You will enjoy it.

OMG I LOVETHISPLACE! I definitely had doubts because its one of those places thats open 24⁄7 and a lotttt of people come here after a looong night out which is what I did the first time I went to Midnight Diner and it was delicious! But then the other day I got take out for Sunday morning breakfast and it was just as good! So sober or after a night of drinking, midnight diner is a must! Both times I got a grilled cheese with cheddar cheese and french fries, yummy! And a really large portion for only 6 dollars! My boyfriend got chicken and waffles the first time which was great also. And the second time he got the midnight breakfast special i think it was called. 10 dollars for eggs, pancakes, hash browns, sausage, and cheesy grits! Sooo much food, good food, for really cheap! We also got a side of macaroni and cheese which is probably in the top 3 mac and cheeses I have had since I moved to Charlotte! Just know, that if you plan to dine in, you are definitely going to wait whether its late night or breakfast time, there is always a line at the door. Trust me, the wait is worth it! I cant wait to go back and get another grilled cheese and try some new items on the menu!
