When I started with Unilocal two years ago, I decided to go on a salon tour. I had been going to the same girl for years(and she’s great), but I felt like I needed to explore our city and see what’s out there. My friend Quinn recommended Kenna. And then about a month or so later, Kenna was the stylist at a wedding I went to Asheville. Okay universe, I get it. Next stop on the tour: New Seele. Kenna has done my hair now three different times. I always do cut and color. She nailed the color I wanted from the very beginning. She’s always straight up honest with me about my hair.(Fact: I go way too long between visits and my hair looks rough) She always knows the right thing to do to get it healthy again. She does Keratin as well. I have never done that, but contemplating it for next Summer. And on top of all that, Kenna’s super nice. Price-wise: I would say the moderate to high moderate range. Is that a thing or did I make that up? Where is New Seele? It can be a little tricky to find the first time. It’s located inside the Sola Salons building over by Atherton Market. There’s a bunch of a little salon type shops there. This is another thing I like: you’re the only person at New Seele for your appointment. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes there’s nothing better than hearing all the gossip flying around a salon. But sometimes, I just want to enjoy getting my hair washed without hearing strangers bitch about their Tinder date or the fact their boyfriend sucks. What’s her story? You may remember her from Modern. She was there before she decided to open her own shop. She’s also won some of those best of award type things in the city. Kenna is definitely on my list of stylists I recommend here in Charlotte. She joins Terra(Varji), Mel(Therapy), and Erica(Salon 42) as my top picks. Granted, I by no means am an expert and there’s a lot of great ones out there I haven’t discovered yet, but they’re my top four so far.

I chose Kenna to be my wedding hair and makeup artist based on the recommendation of my photographer. At first, I was a bit nervous about it, because her website only showcases photos of light skinned women with straight blondish hair. I am middle eastern, darker skinned with curly black hair, and I wasn’t sure if she knew how to deal with my type of hair. However, she was really sweet and accommodating on the phone when we talked, so I went for it. I have to say that I am very very happy I did. Kenna made me look absolutely beautiful on my big day. I looked in the mirror and couldn’t believe that was me. I have never looked so lovely, and I don’t expect that I ever will again! She is very experienced and works quickly. I had a fancy up do completed in 40 – 45 minutes and it looked like something she would have spent 2 hours on. She is also very professional, responsive, and was punctual and ready to deal with various requests. She also gave me tips on what I could do as part of my own makeup routine to bring out my eyes a bit, etc. I only wish that I lived in Charlotte so she could be my hair dresser full time. I am seriously considering having her cut and style my hair at least once or twice a year when I come back to visit my family.

I’m glad I’ve finally found someone consistent. When you tell Kenna«do what you think is best». There is never a disappointment! She does all my girls’ hair & we always look fabulous. Added bonus! She is an absolute sweetheart & takes so much pride in her job! Her products she uses are top of the line! And there’s never a need for«toner», because she gets the hair color right the first time! Would recommend her to any of my friends. And also for anyone needs their hair styled for a wedding or prom!

I’ve been going to Kenna since I moved to Charlotte roughly 3 years ago. I was so blessed to be introduced to her and she changed my perspective about hair care and cosmetology in general. I rarely maintained my hair prior to Kenna and dreaded going to any salon, but I go to her regularly and look forward to my visits. All of my friends recognized her talent and go to her as well. She truly has a gift and is experienced in many facets; I guarantee whatever your need is, she is able to do it and amazingly at that! Her fun, friendly personality makes the experience all the more enjoyable. I do not endorse anything lightly, and she has rightfully earned mine. I will most likely still use her even if we ever live in separate cities. You can only regret not using her services! –Magen

When I made a permanent move to Charlotte one of my worries was finding a hair stylist. I’m very cautious of who can handle my blonde locks and after a couple years of disappointments I was referred to Kenna. Need I go on besides stating the fact that I have never gone elsewhere since I went to Kenna for her services? Not only is she some form of unofficial therapist(meaning she will listen to anything I have to say and I do not feel judged), she is a creative professional who works versatilely & open minded. She is worth the time, the money, & the experience. The salon is conveniently located at Southend, which is next to some of the best food & drinks Charlotte has to offer! P. s. She gives really good hand massages!

Kenna is the best hair stylist I have ever gone to. I have blonde hair and am very picky about how it is colored and she always knows exactly what to do. I also used to have short hair when I first started going to her 3 years ago and now it is long and healthier than it has ever been. Love her, love her space and now LOVE my hair!
