This was my 4th visit to the same stylist for a haircut. The first 2 times my cut took about 50 min. and the results were great. The 3rd time In between my wash n cut I had to wait while she cut a mans hair and my cut was rushed, and I had to tell her to re cut several sections, it was the holiday so I just thought she was rushed. My hair cut was passable. I went in today during the day mid week and brought pictures, I was done and out the door in 25 minutes, my cut looks nothing like the pictures I brought. My haircut is ok if you wanted a really short, old lady style. My consultation, wash, cut, style n pay took 25 minutes, my bill after cut, bottle of hairspray and tip was $ 107. The blowdry was so horrific I was embarrassed to stop to do an errand I had planned afterwards, I rushed home wet my hair to restyle and realized I don’t even have brushes that will work due to shortness of the cut. A consultation, wash, cut, style and pay should take more time than 25 minutes. For $ 107 I could have had the same old lady cut at a great clips for 25 $. I hate when stylists get comfortable that you will come back, don’t listen and basically are condescending to anyone over 30 as if to say, you are over the hill anyway so who cares, get em’, and get em’, out. When you are getting older one of the things you can still control is your hair and today this stylist basically took my best trait and ruined it. Good thing my hair grows pretty fast and that my husband loves short hair! I routinely get keratin treatments and I don’t think my hair is even long enuff to get one now:(, when i asked her to tame an asinine flip on one side of my head, she responded with«that’s what makes it fun» which part of KERATIN treatment don’t you get??? I don’t get my haircut for«FUN», I get my hair cut to best flatter my features. thanks a lot Jana.

I absolutely love Planet 21. Two reasons Sonshine and Ashley. Sonshine is one of the most talented stylists to ever cut my hair and she has an amazing personality too. She always listens to my requests and is honest about whether or not she thinks it will work with my face shape. I also have a bad habit of occasionally working on my bangs myself. Never once has she judged me. Ashley has colored my hair a couple times and is always very attentive to my wishes and is also very skilled at tailoring the hair color to my complexion. She too has a great attitude and a pleasant demeanor. She’s also fantastic at getting the color right to your scalp so you don’t leave with roots. I love that they use Wella color, it holds in my hair longer and doesn’t fade the way a lot of other hair color does. I lived in Atlanta and Los Angeles prior to moving to Charlotte. These lovely ladies are easily on par with some of the best in both of those cities. I think they’re prices are fairly competitive and actually better than some of the other salons I tried in Charlotte prior to finding them.

If I could give this salon zero stars, I would. I recently moved to the Charlotte area and asked numerous people what the«best salon» was in the area and I heard«Planet 21» the most so I gave it a shot. I had heard Crystal was their star colorist so I waited 3 weeks to get in with her. She did my partial highlights, which start at $ 115.00; this is ONLY for the color. I told her, in detail, what I wanted and even had notes from my former salon who had perfected my color. Not only did she not listen to me, she spent less than 20 minutes on my highlights and never asked me if I liked them before I left. Really, 20 minutes and $ 115.00!!! Is this Manhattan? The cut was ok but nothing spectacular. When I saw the finished product, I was mortified. I already could see my roots and the color was way off; too blonde which I specifically said was my biggest concern. There was no one«available» to talk to after my cut so I left very upset and broke. Total bill for partial highlight, cut and tips– $ 175.00. I called the next day and spoke to a manager and voiced my concerns. They apologized and set me up with another«top colorist» to «fix» my hair at no charge, the least they could do. When I went in the second time, a mere one week later, I already told her my hair was too blonde, you could already see the re-growth and there were holes in my color. My hair is dark blonde naturally so I figured a dark blonde would be put in to even out the color. What does she do but add nothing but BLEACH highlights to my already horrifyingly too blonde hair. I had no words. If this is the«best salon in Charlotte» y’all have VERY low standards. NEVERGOINGBACKAGAIN and it is way too expensive for what it is.

I had the ombré done by Jordan. I did not have to wait long. She was very nice & did a great job. I love my hair and the cost was even less than what I was quoted in the phone!

OMG… one of the worse places for hair and too expensive for this as well! They«compartmentalize»(which means more $$$)…people only cut, or only color, or I don’t know what else. I came in for both, neither the cut or color was good. So, if you have two different people giving you a bad cut/color…what does that say? I looked so old and dowdy, gave me the total opposite of what I told them I wanted and even though the color got fixed(I told her as soon as she was done I didn’t like it. Actually it was the worse color job I’ve ever paid for!) a day later(because I insisted it was not right), I would never go back. Avoid this place like the plague!

I have been going to Palnet 21 for 8 years(I have never stuck to my hair person before)! I get compliments on my hair all the time– especially the color. They always do a wonderful job and the place is very customer oriented. I ususally see Penny and Kat– they are great!

The first time I went I had cut/color. The color was okay but the cut was exactly what I said I didn’t want. I went here for several color trips and the last time I went I had roots after 16 days. I didn’t like the way one person washes your hair, another colors it and then another cuts and someone else might even dry it. I have now found another salon, which I can say I had my hair colored about 5 wks ago and still barely no roots. Thats a big difference from 16 days.
