Slate Billiards

I actually go to this place every time I go home and watch the football games on Sunday. It’s always crowded so get there early if you want seating. It’s hard to find wait staff once the crowd rolls in so be prepared to go up to the bar to order. They have a dj on Sunday’s playing during the games. Cool atmosphere that embodies the heart of young adult Charlotte. Always a mixed crowd and everyone gets along. Love this place.

So this is my 3^rd time here at Slate. Great place, free pool, free ping pong, very spacious, reasonable drink costs, a really great place! Had awesome live acoustic music tonite! Unfortunately, when they finished, the DJ that came on at 11 pm was not very good. We ended up leaving within 30 minutes of when he started playing.
Bartenders (all girls) are nice ! Unfortunately, there’s one bartender that wants nothing to do with good positive customer service. Short brown hair, tats on her arm. Never smiles, acts like she doesn’t want to be here. In all the interaction with her (getting refills, closing out, etc…) not one time did she say anything? Not even a «thank you» when closing out! Not one smile. The funny thing is, one of the girls in our group is a server/​bartender and she came back from getting drinks at the bar and said «what’s the deal with that one bartender» and went into feeling the same way when dealing with this particular bartender! And get this, she smokes while behind the bar! That is so unprofessional and nasty. And she had a ton of time to be continually checking her cellphone! Very disappointed in how we were treated. Unfortunately, this one bartender ruins it because the other bartenders were nice, interactive, looked you in the eyes when engaging you, smiled… you know? All those things I thought all bartenders are supposed to do? Because it’s part of their job?

Meh it was overrated! Took forever to get a drink and the girls behind the bar were rude. Bathroom didn’t have toilet paper so that was off putting.

Amazing! High-​end pool tables and ping pong tables that dont charge per hour. Great drink specials! I love this place!

Service was ok but you are a billiards and don’t have pool on Wednesday night? Pretty boring place

Great spot to shoot pool and play ping pong near uptown. I took the light rail and got off at Bland St. looking to go to All American. Found out they opened another place next door that had pool tables and skee ball. Beer prices are great, liquor is cheap. They have All Americans menu. Its not like a pool hall in the tradition sense it very clean and modern. Come football season I will definitely be back. They also have a club thats open on the weekend. The whole complex very cool.

I can’t begin to explain the amount of good vibes and the good times I have in this place. Always has drink specials and good music. Definitely the place to be in South End.

Slate is a great place to watch a game or for a night out, I make sure to stop in every time I’m in town. The bar is clean and beautifully decorated, the staff is friendly and knowledgable, and they’ve got a great selection of beer and liquor.

A true gem located in the heart of south end… This fine establishment is a true oasis for whatever your heart desires… upon entering the crystal clear double doors, I was immediately welcomed with a rich scent of mahogany and a touch of chestnut… the glow of numerous flat screens set the tone for an ambiance unparalleled to any bar/​club/​restaurant/​billiards hall I’ve previously experienced… the twinkle in the bartender’s eye initially distracted my attention from the vast craft beer selection, but eventually decided on a truly satisfying local draft… as I browsed the food menu, a bar back with flowing hair suggested a delicacy that resulted in the equivalent to an orgasm for my taste buds also known as the buffalo chicken dip… the smooth sounds emitting from the high end speakers set the tone for the night… classic melodies from Jody highroller serenaded me as I proceeded to chalk my cue and enjoy a memorable game of pool on a top notch table… the smooth velvet surface tempted me to disrobe and allow my bare skin to be tickled by the sensational feeling it provided… I will definitely frequent this destination again with the hopes of a similar experience… oh, and the bathrooms were pretty fucking clean…

Slate is like walking into a wormhole of awesomeness that ends in accidental pregnancy with women’s soccer playing in the background… As you thrust you just hear names you hope you won’t have to consider cause you want with a boy or an abortion… I strongly recommend

Great neighborhood in CLT (Southend) and conveniently located on the light rail. Atmosphere/​décor is def top-​notch for any city! Friendly staff and top brand Diamond pool tables are a winning combo. Definitely recommend!

I was here for a Christmas party for work. The place is owned by the same people who own All American Grill in the same building.
The place has a huge bar in the first room as you enter. There are several seating areas for those people who want to drink and relax. There are TVs everywhere to catch up on the games. The bar featured several local craft beers from OMB, NoDa and Birdsong breweries.
In the next room are a bunch of pool tables and ping pong tables and more TV’s.
One of the bartenders here was a bit rude (I didn’t catch her name but she had a lot of tattoos) but then there was Cassidy who made up for it. Cassidy is a star at this place and went out of her way to serve customers. 5 stars to Cassidy alone!
Great place. Definitely worth checking out if you have a chance.
