The Boasting Hound

I’m giving away secrets today. This is one of my secrets. It is a great little bar near the Plaza and Matheson. Think right in between Noda and Plaza Midwood.
You have to press the intercom button to be allowed in. Sign in right away– BUT TRY TO DODGE THE DARTS– Yes– there is a dart board right where you sign in. A little danger is good.
Once you are here– you will either be greeted by the very friendly owner or a regular. The regular are an interesting lot. It is a mix of older regulars who have been there for years and have stories about how Plaza Midwood has changed to a small group of young hipsters.
My husband swears by the pool tables. He is picky about this sort of thing. He also thinks it is priced well.
They have craft beer. WHAT DIVE BAR HAS CRAFT BEER? I’m thanking the Hipsters for this.
They have Karaōke every other Friday. It is the best karaōke in Charlotte. It isn’t obnoxious. The KJ isn’t BFF with some people and won’t let some people sign. It is fair and done right. We love it. This is a great place to go with a big group of friends.
There is an outdoor area with a fire pit.
The only negative is the sink isn’t in the bathroom. It is in the main area. It is a little awkward for people to watch you wash your hands (EVEN MORE AWKWARD TO WATCH THE PEOPLE WHO DIDN’T WASH THEIR HANDS)
If you are searching for a dive bar– this is your place. Please don’t ruin it.
