Beer Run is among my favorite restaurants in Charlottesville. I love that the menu changes monthly, and there are always the delicious staple options available(the nachos are the best I’ve had in C’Ville). Another super amazing beer run perk– the inside has the most variety of any«6 pack shop» I’ve ever seen. It is utopia for beer lovers. What makes it better? There is wine in the back room– and free tastings every Friday. I love that you can sit outside at any season with the heaters and tent. If you haven’t tried beer run, I highly recommend it!

My husband and I came here for Memorial Day brunch and had a great experience. We sat outside — it wasn’t too loud and we saw a dog so we immediately wished we brought our dog too. Service was friendly and quick. We ordered a spicy Bloody Mary to start off and it was SPICY — not just a little kick to it — which I loved. I enjoyed their biscuits and gravy while my husband enjoyed his breakfast burrito — he especially liked the potatoes that came out on the side. I couldn’t finish my dish and had to take home leftovers but no complaints there since I got to enjoy it again for dinner. Afterwards we browsed their wide selection of beer and we couldn’t help but purchase some. Even if it’s not to eat I will definitely return to purchase beer and hit up their bar!

I was very disappointed with Beer Run. We went in at 1 on Sunday. First, the«all day menu» is not all day, it starts after brunch on weekends, which was disappointing but we sat down anyway. Next, the waiter informs us that there’s no sweet tea because somebody didn’t order sweetener. What? We tried to add sugar to the unsweetened tea ourselves but it was bitter. When taking our food orders the waiter didn’t write anything down, so he had to come back 5 minutes later and ask us again what we wanted. Were we not tired and hungry we may have given up right then and left. The quiche and choco loco strata were both delicious, the steak and hash was good but too heavy, and the grits that came with the steak and eggs were not very good — the pesto on top only made it worse. The waiter forgot to bring us more water twice, the only thing he was quick about was the check.

Drink your beer where you buy your beer! I like that… and these dudes have a bajillion beers to choose from. There’s a bar with maybe 25 taps… and they have decent food… you can sit at tables too. If you want to try some bottles, they have a few coolers in the store where you can buy singles. There is a «popping the top» fee of like a buck, but you can drink away. Then when you are done, you can buy all types and styles of beers to bring home! Cool concept!!!

Great Sunday brunch! We had the Berry French Toast Strata(which is to die for), the avocado toast and the Texas frites. All of the food was yummy and cooked to perfection. The service was attentive and friendly. Fun, casual atmosphere and great beer shop to browse around in. This will definitely be our go-to brunch spot!

What a great place! In the area for the weekend, so stopped in to have a drink and check out the offerings. The staff was very personable. The bloody Mary was incredible. After blowing through $ 100 on bottles we can’t get in NC, we decided we would be back the next morning for breakfast tacos. Amazingly, we we’re recognized from the prior night. The tacos were very filling and satisfying. I have zero complaints. I’m glad this place isn’t near my home, because I’d be broke.

I can’t believe I’ve lived here three years and never tried this place! The food was all delicious, but the even better part about this restaurant is you can select your own bottle of wine from their wine/beer shop and drink it with dinner for a $ 5 fee. They had a huge variety of beer and cider as well. I can’t wait to return and try their brunch!

Great place for lunch and a few beers. I’ve been for brunch as well, not a huge fan of their Bloody Mary.

Had a great Sunday brunch at Beer Run! We ended up walking in through the back by accident and stood around inside for a few minutes without being acknowledged by staff. The hostess walked by us several times without asking us if we needed help– but we were eventually seated in the covered patio, which was pretty loud. We ordered a spicy Bloody Mary, Moscow mule, breakfast burrito and the bacon egg sandwich. The bartender took a while making(«perfecting») my Moscow Mule, but it tasted delicious. I had asked for a side salad instead of potatoes which I did not get, but the sandwich was very big so I didn’t bother asking for the sandwich. I also was able to sub cheddar for the pimento cheese. I loved that it came with a few pieces of fruit! When we got our bill, our waitress explained that the table behind us had paid for our bill by accident, so we ended up paying less than we were supposed to. Not sure what happened logistically but our waitress was very nice about it. Loved this place and will definitely be back!

Beer run is a combination bar and bottle shop. Most impressive is the quality of rare bottles that are offered. A vast collection of great local beers is a must and represented well in the space. Also, many west coast and foreign beers are stocked that I have not come across in my travels. I made sure to stock up with two cases and was elated to see that prices were much better than I anticipated. The staff was eager to offer help as we perused the offerings. I would say the best beer selection in Charlottesville and honestly near the top of my experiences in all.

I am not too sure what to think about this place. I like the drinks and staff but the food is always just kinda OK. Definitely not bad I have been a bunch of times and will go again but it just never quite hits the hole I want it to somehow. I think it might be because the menu doesn’t know what it wants to be and thus doesn’t do anything quite right. For example the brunch burrito is big and substantial and tasty and fill a hungover person up. Knowing this you order something from the same brunch menu, the steak and eggs perhaps, and you are expecting it to be of a similar ilk and it is tasty but doesn’t fill you up at all. The scales are off somehow. It has a good Bloody Mary.

Great beer selection and tasty sandwiches at the counter. Pint prices are in the ridiculous range.

My latest experience was a two-star experience, knocking my overall(typically awesome) experience to four stars. Here’s the explanation. We went to Sunday brunch and had to wait for an hour to be seated. No worries; we expect a wait. Once seated, I ordered steak and eggs. My buddy ordered the same. What other american indulgence could be so satisfying at breakfast? Wrong. The steak came out so thin(in the shape of New Jersey) that is was unsuitable for a waif model. The egg was cold. The accompanying grits were bland. My wife ordered the beet salad. On our last visit, she was overjoyed by the volume and diversity of vegetables. No so this time — a few beet slices with some uninspired accompaniments. Hypotheses? Just an off day? Is the new apartment complex swamping the business? Is the pressure of new restaurant Kardinal Hall detracting from the home base? For sure, as a huge fan of Beer Run, I will try try again.

If you are serious about beer, it’s Mecca. Enough said. Apparently I have to say more or they won’t post this. It’s a nice day outside, but a bit humid for my taste.

Amazing nachos, great beer, fast service. My only complaint is that the Saturday morning taco menu is not available more often. If you like good beer, huge nachos and quick service, this place is for you!

I was surprised to find that this place serves breakfast, and pretty darn good breakfast at that. I ordered the Sundance Kid omelette and a coffee. Turns out, they too, serve TBC! I have a huge affinity for this coffee so this was automatically a plus. The omelette was a large serving of ham, bell peppers, organic red onions, pepper jack cheese, and a house tomatillo salsa verde. It came out hot and smelled heavenly. Using the side of toast I ordered, I made a makeshift breakfast sandwich that was full of cheesy, eggy, zesty deliciousness. The service was friendly and fast. Two things I value when I’m grabbing breakfast out! Further more, they had an extensive selection of beers along the back wall, and some great looking pastries in their front of house. I will have to come back to sample more of the food here. This restaurant is located off the backend of Belmont tucked away along a hillside and near a new apartment complex. It has a fair sized parking lot and is easy to find parking during the day.

Came here for Saturday morning brunch(goes until 11:30am) and so our menu was limited to breakfast tacos which are essentially different types of omelets wrapped in a soft tortilla. I got el gringo(bacon, cheese, egg) and the gardener(Egg, cheese, black beans, potatoes, alfalfa, sprouts). The bacon was amazing — a little sweet and thick cut. There was way too much cheese in both tacos though for my taste. I also wasn’t a fan of the tortilla, it just ended up soaking up a lot of the oil. Would like to come back for dinner or when they have a different menu though!

We stopped in today after reading Unilocal reviews. We arrived around 2 and were greeted and seated promptly. Then we sat and sat and sat waiting to order. We were looking around and a really sweet girl with short hair and glasses came up with a huge smile and took our drink order. I wish she had continued to serve us as she had a very bright personality. Then, another girl who really didn’t seem to be all that excited about being there came to take our food order. We then waited for a pretty long while before the food arrived. The food was fine but nothing all that exciting. The server never checked back until long after the food was consumed and our beer glasses had been empty for a bit. We ordered dessert and it came out fairly quickly and was good. We then waited for a long time for the bill to come out. Not sure if we will try this place again or not.

Beer Run was my first meal out in Cville when I first moved here. I have been there several times since for brunch, dinner, and happy hour. The interior wasn’t what I was expecting, and it could use an upgrade. It is kind of cold and unwelcoming, almost sterile. It is a hybrid bar/restaurant and beer shop, which is awesome, but it doesn’t have the best ambiance because of that. The patio is my favorite choice of seating when the weather permits. It is heated, so I have even sat out there in the late fall through January. They don’t have a huge selection of beer, which is odd given the name, but they do have very unique craft beers, so if you are a beer lover, this place is for you. In terms of food, their nachos are hands down the best thing that I’ve had on the menu. They are huge – definitely more than enough for two people to share as a dinner. If you are here, you really must try them! I’ve also had a variety of other things for dinner, like a salmon banh mi that was on special, and the mussels. Everything has always been really fresh and of high quality. I’ve been to Beer Run once for brunch. Their Bloody Mary is awesome! I think they have won awards for it the past several years. I had the salmon sardou, which was great! I also tried a bite of the very berry French toast strata, and it was like eating dessert for breakfast. It was highly recommended by my boyfriend. Whenever I go there, I can’t resist checking out their vast beer selection to purchase to go. They have a huge selection of canned and bottled beers. You can also purchase growlers to go of things they have on draft. If you’re looking for a special type of beer, this is where I would recommend going. I’m a big fan of Beer Run!

The love of my life and I were in town for the Sara Bareilles little black dress tour. We arrived to Charlottesville so we could eat dinner before the concert. We had no idea where to find a good meal and looked to Unilocal for answers. Unilocal strongly favored this place and without missing a beat we made our way to Beer Run. I grew up in a college town(Fullerton, CA) and I love college kids. UVA is probably my #1 University in all of Virginia. Forget VT, VCU, U of R, JMU, ODU, etc. UVAALLTHEWAY!!! I’m not sure if the kids running this place were college kids but let’s just assume they are. They were totally cool. I don’t recall her name but she explained the menu items in detail and based on her suggestions we ordered. My lady love had the incredible fish and chips(pictured in my review.) Allow me to quote the menu description: Corn-Chip-Encrusted, Fried Spicy Catfish Fillet Topped with Fresh House-Made Pico de Gallo and Chipotle Ranch, Served with Organic House-Roasted Frites. It was absolutely divine, a 10⁄10 dinner entrée. I had a dinner special which was a seafood burger patty topped with a Sriracha sauce, fresh tomato, cheese and eruca sativa(commonly known as salad rocket, rucola, rucoli, rugula, colewort, roquette and, in the United States, arugula.) I’m a big wuss and the Sriracha sauce scorched my mouth. Thankfully the disgusting arugula was there to remind my tongue how bitter edible plants can be. I powered through it and washed it down with a delicious craft beer. One of my profile pics is me toasting a beer; well that picture was taken right here at Beer Run. Although I didn’t like my meal, I respect the craftsmanship of it. They put some thought into it; I just personally didn’t like the flavor profile. The Fish and Chips were another matter. I was having a full case of food envy that night. Whoever thought encrusting catfish in corn chips and lovingly smother it in chipotle ranch is a damn genius. This dish should be featured in a magazine. It’s fantastic! If you’re in the Charlottesville area for business or a concert give beer run a go.
