Bike Factory of Charlottesville

Girlfriend and I went in looking for a pair of bikes. Salesman offered no information or input without prodding extensively for details on the different models. Granted we are newish to cycling but that is no reason to not even feign interest in your customers. It wasn’t just the salesman though, all of the staff were less than enthused to interact with us. We ended up getting two bikes for roughly a thousand dollars. Came back in the next day for some accessories and not only was their selection pitiful the staff were once again seemingly annoyed by my presence. As a small business owner in CVille it is extra painful to have to recommend the chain Performance Bicycle instead of a locally owned shop but I cannot see why I would ever return. Avoid if possible!

My daughter’s bike needed a new chain installed and both inner tubes replaced, and we were only in town for two days. They turned it around in a day and at a reasonable price.

One of my strollers tires was flat. After a whole day of trying to find a place that would fix it, I come here– within 5 minutes they have it done while being reasonably priced too! Thank you so much!

Crappy service. Maybe this place is good for buying new bikes, but my gf and I had a terrible experience getting our bikes tuned here. We came because it was pretty much the last place in town that could turn them around in a day or two (we had a triathlon coming up and didn’t have time to tune on our own.)
Upon entering, we were greeted by a less-​than-​enthusiastic individual who said about three words during the course of our interaction. My gf explained the issues she was having with her bike and the mechanic in the back immediately blamed it all on her lack of knowledge about what she was doing. Thanks buddy, but she’s been riding this bike for three years in numerous triathlons (and podiumed in a couple) — I think she’s got it under control. Reluctantly, we left our bikes.
A couple days later I went in to get them. Same service, had to wait for the employees to finish their conversation before I was acknowledged. Another three word interaction, I paid the $ 140 for them, and took the bikes out the door. I rode them a bit outside and they seemed okay, albeit pretty much the same as when we brought them in.
Upon arriving home, I discovered they had tightened my GF’s back brake to the extent that the wheel would not freely spin. My front brakes, which needed adjustment, were in worse condition than when I brought them, jiggling back and forth as I rode down the road. C’mon man. This is basic stuff. Luckily, we had time to adjust them ourselves prior to our event. Not pleased with the results… I’m not even sure they did 5 minutes worth of work.
Don’t go here. There are so many better places around. Blue Wheel is one of my favorites. I shudder to say it, but performance bike shop is probably a better solution than this place if you need some work done.

Did not know they existed… but, we walked in and dropped $ 3,000 on bikes for the entire family. Friendly and knowledgeable sales rep… good selection… fair prices. I recommend the Bike Factory.

These guys are awesome!!! I have been looking for bikes for my three kids for a while. It may sound like an easy task, but I have been to several places and it is not. My five year old is special needs. They recommended a bike that is easier to pedal in a color that my son loves. My daughter just turned four. They recommended a great pink bike that is just right for her size. We have had a hard time finding a tricycle for my soon to be two year old. They are either way too big or too small. Some of them are also hard to pedal. They recommended the lil giant tricycle. It fits perfect now, and the seat is adjustable. The staff is very knowledgeable of their products. I would definitely recommend them.

Subpar service. I went in for a tuneup and the owner acted like I was putting him out. Has the personality of a wood board and any knowledge or passion he has regarding bikes is well hidden. I inquired about a bike (I am in the neighborhood for a new one!) and questions were answered very reluctantly and in one word responses. Take your business and questions elsewhere – to blue ridge cyclery or performance bikes!
