This place is good! Fills a niche as it’s not as fancy as some of the other bakeries in town. I came on the day before Thanksgiving, so there were a number of seasonal offerings — I got the curry chicken salad sandwich, which is tasty and well-portioned, but it’s kind of like a sandwich you would make at home, plus I wish it were warm/toasted. I followed that up with a butter pecan cookie, which was crispy, big, and super good, and at 69 cents, cheaper than most fresh cookies around. I wanted to try every other cookie in the window too but held back, because I also bought a bag of a dozen sweet potato biscuits. I love sweet potatoes and I love biscuits — needless to say, I really enjoyed these. Again, my only wish was that I could have tasted them fresh out of the oven. I toasted them at home but I can only imagine what they were like before.

First time visiting bread works today and will definitely be back again. Delicious blueberry scone, chocolate cheesecake brownie, fruit Danish, and bear claw. They also offer a variety of sandwiches and salads aside from baked goods. Great place to go for a quick lunch.

This is basically the best bakery in Charlottesville. The staff is really friendly. Friendliest bakery staff in Charlottesville. What makes me like it even more is the fact they make it a point to employ people with disabilities. Cupcakes are really good, although I have to admit they’re not exactly freshly baked… but I still like it. Very chocolatey. Sandwhiches are really good. Cookies are great Best bread: Sunflower wheat. I never knew I could like bread so much! They might not have the fanciest desserts, but it’s just a really down-to-earth friendly bakery where you can feel comfortable.

pros: Bread is delicious. Cookies are delicious. I seem to always end up speaking to the same guy each time I go – a middle aged, good natured fellow. He’s always been kind to me while at the same time sassying it up. cons: Although good in quality, the sandwiches and salads are a little smallish. I like my portions large. overall: There are so many things to try here. Next time, the quiche goes home with me. The carrot cake cupcake can come, too.

Great place for bread, plus they have great pizza dough for under 2 bucks! If you are bargain-minded, I recommend showing up on Saturdays between noon and 2:30– usually, all the bread is half-price. I just buy several loaves and freeze some!

YUM! My work had Breadworks cater a few of our meetings, and their sandwiches are fantastic! I loved the sunflower wheat bread so much I found the bakery so I could buy my own loaves of it. They have a schedule of which days they make different types of bread, and they sell out, so if there’s one kind you want, call ahead or get their bread schedule. I don’t think they had a place where you could eat in — I think it is all take-out. I am very impressed that they hire special-needs adults for the bakery. Not many places give work opportunities to people who may need extra support, but Breadworks does — KUDOS to Breadworks! And their bread and sandwiches are fantastic! I never tried any of their other baked goods, but they had the regular bakery fare as well — tarts, cakes, cookies, etc. I love their bread!
