Sweethaus

Sweethaus is super cute inside, and when I stopped by to pick up some cupcakes, it seemed like there was a child’s birthday party going on. There are a bunch of candies for sale, and the cupcakes are displayed very nicely. I really wanted to try the chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake after hearing that the frosting was made with real cookie dough. They have a ton of unique flavors, but they will cost you. Half a dozen cupcakes was about $ 16, which in my opinion is pretty pricey. The chocolate chip cookie dough was good but on the very, very sweet side. Sweethaus has a great reputation as Cville’s best cupcakes, but I’m just not the biggest fan.

Looking through the photos I saw some Macarons and since my eBay Bride and I predict the Macaron is the «New Cupcake» (TREND) it could work very well! Here at SweetHaus you and I do not have to choose (except the flavors) don’t do like we did and get almost one of each (you might want TWO)!
Macaroons were Delicious as almost Everything was!

The Interior is Cute, Feminine (Even with a See-​through-​Roll-​up Garage Door and Bigger than I was expecting! They also have a Private Party Room

Had a blast making gingerbread houses with the kids. They have great hot chocolate and their butter cream icing is pretty tasty. My kids took the tube home (lucky me)! :) I like the space in this location better. More space to spread out! They have excellent cupcakes too!

OK so I have to be in the area for business and I was looking for a good cuppa coffee and maybe something sweet to eat.
I went in for coffee and was totally taken back by the well kept and amazing arrangements of candy and cupcakes for which they will frost right in front of you if you’d like. The coffee was the best I’ve had in over a week –for traveling, having a good cuppa coffee, is a great thing. The girl behind the counter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and helpful the price was perfect and I ended up getting a salted caramel Cupcake which was absolutely mouthwatering good!
I am A lover of cupcakes that is my guilty pleasure. The coffee and cupcake satisfied every spot in my taste bud!
I would be back again and again probably a good thing for me that I don’t live so close it’s affordable and friendly and everything else you’d want a coffee/​bakery!!!

OBSESSED with the pumpkin cupcakes. I wish they weren’t seasonal because I seriously miss them during the rest of the year. They’re so moist and flavorful and perfectly spiced, and the frosting has just the perfect touch of caramel.
Chocolate with strawberry frosting is probably their second-​best cupcake IMO. However, it is often absent from the line-​up. The almond cupcakes are great too, but often are a bit dry.
Minus one star because sometimes their non-​cookies and cream chocolate cupcake bases have an oreo cookie baked inside, which is just a sign of poor organization. I wouldn’t come here if you have allergies because this does not bode well for cross-​contamination.
Minus another because they overcharge for plain milk and don’t have many outlets. If you’re going to study here, make sure all of your devices are at 100% power.
I would give this place a soft 3.5.

I am a baker and love finding new bakeries in other towns to try. I am very, very picky about what I like in cakes. We were going to Charlottesville from Richmond to celebrate my friends birthday and just googled to find cupcakes to pick up in the area. Sweethaus popped up with high ratings so we went and grabbed some cupcakes to take with us to the vineyards/​breweries. Just one word: delicious! I wish we had a Sweethaus in Richmond! Keep doing what you’re doing!

This is the absolute best, hands down, Cupcake, Candy, specialty store! Each and every one of their cakes are hand made with the finest ingredients and a lot of care and attention to detail. I have been to other cupcake stores in Charlottesville and some have really good cupcakes to look at and some have somewhat tasty cupcakes to eat, but no other place in Charlottesville has ALL of that except for Sweethaus. You can taste the sweet butter and cream in their frostings/​icings. The cake part of their cupcakes are extremely moist and flavorful! You can tell they use the real stuff in all of their ingredients not just almond extract for almonds & lemon extract for lemons. Some of my favorites are the pistachio, salted caramel & carrot cake. If you want to get some cupcakes to go «on the spot» they will oblige on the spot or you can order ahead of time as big an order as you want! Sweethaus has a beautiful area in the back where you can sit and enjoy your sweet treats and there’s even a children’s play area equipped with their very own children’s oven! Go, enjoy & be happy!

Cute little bakery in downtown Charlottesville! Delicious cupcakes, macaroons, and really nice staff. My only complaint was that the icing is a little too sweet for me, but I don’t really like super sweet anyway. If you do then this place is perfect! If we’re ever back in the area we would definitely give them our business again.

I ordered a dozen cupcakes and had them delivered! They were absolute perfection! I would recommend them to anyone in the Charlottesville area!

This is a really cute sweets shop. You can make your own bags of candies or choose from their large assortment of chocolate covered goodies or cupcakes.
The baking area has a window front so you can watch them making things.
The back is cutely decorated and has a couple of couches, a table and small bar area you can enjoy your treats at. There is a little nook area right there with a play kitchen, blocks, train tracks and baby table that the little ones can play with.
I saw something about them offering baking classes for kids that I think would be fun.

About a 2 – 2.5: Sweethaus has been around since ’11. I really wanted to looove this place, as when you step inside, it looked all whimsical and so colorful! To the left of the entrance, there were shelves of candies in large glass jars that you can buy in bulk; there was a cute candy-​adorned chandelier towards the back; attached to the left, there is a large event/​party area where you can sit and enjoy your treats. I also loved the frame works of an artist, Raven Smith, that was hanging by the windowed kitchen area. I was pretty excited to try out their famous cupcakes and was a little disappointed that they didn’t have much variety with their mini cupcakes as they do with their regular-​sized ones. However, I was able to try the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, a Double Lemon Cupcake, the Double Pistachio Cupcake, the Salted Caramel Cupcake, the Key Lime Cupcake, and the Everything Cupcake. Besides the Everything Cupcake, the rest were just overly sweet; the cupcake batter and the frosting were both just way too sugary/​grainy and really did not have any of the taste of what the flavor was. Also, the cake itself was really dry, and some of the mini cupcakes, especially, were overbaked T_​_​_​T I did enjoy the topping of the ‘Everything Cupcake,’ as it was a big mound of caramel, marshmallow, Oreo, peanut buttercream, pretzels, and mini peanut butter cups; the chocolate cake itself, again, was just way too sugary, and more sugar than chocolate. The staff were very friendly and pleasant, but I did notice that they handled the cupcakes without any gloves (!!!) and/​or tongs. I know that they have a flagship location out in Brooklyn that they’d recently opened up, so I might check them out on my next trip to give them another try. I’m glad I tried this location, but it was quite underwhelming and I won’t be back!

I love these cupcakes! The only reason i don´t give 5 stars is because i wish they also served other types of desserts. I guess it is called sweethaus for a reason :)
The place is perfect to bring your laptop and do some work while you eat a delicious and decadent cupcake. I love the pistachio and the salted caramel ones but all of them are delicious. I think i have tried them all because we ordered a lot of them 3 different times for events at UVA. Each big cupcake is $ 2.5 and the minis are $ 1. They offer delivery when you order more than 10 cupcakes or $ 20 plus a delivery fee. The coffee is also good.
I also like the play area for children. Really recommended!

OMGosh… why can’t I give this place 10 stars?! There are no words that are worthy of describing how delicious Sweethaus cupcakes are. Seriously. When you walk in the the quaint storefront you are greeted with smiling faces, a lot of candy and then a sight of the cupcakes. They are displayed in a very humble and unassuming way. You don’t know in those first few glances that what is sitting before you is the most delectable bite of sweet goodness cupcake you will ever eat. It is the perfect balance of sweet and moist. I bought a salted chocolate caramel for my friend’s birthday. We shared it. If I hadn’t been going directly to lunch and then to wine tastings all day I would have bought a few more. I lament the fact that I didn’t go earlier in my trip.
If you don’t stop by you are missing an opportunity to have perfection. We all need to experience perfection and now is your chance.

I consider myself a cupcake connoisseur. I’ve had many in a variety of locales, and the one I had a Sweethaus was probably one of the best ones ever. I had the salted caramel cupcake, and it was the definition of divine. The cake was moist and light. The icing was rich without being cloyingly sweet or too buttery and thick. The salt flavor was just a light taste, so as the still keep the cupcake on the sweet side.
The shop itself is cute too. I love all the tins and jars of candy! Had a very vintage feel. While I took the cupcake to go, the place looked like it had some cozy seating if you wanted to stay and enjoy a cup of coffee or somesuch. Seating outdoors too.
Wish I lived closer, as they were several cupcakes in the display case I wanted to try. They all just looked so amazing!

Sweethaus cupcakes never disappoint. Feeling chocolate — go for the chocolate chip cookie dough. Feeling pie — go for the key lime. Not sure what you want — grab a few of the mini cupcakes (gone in two bites). Hands down, one of the Charlottesville’s best cupcake joints. Whether you’re in the studying mood or want to relax with friends, you can’t go wrong coming here grabbing a cupcake and coffee and just sitting around. The environment is very welcoming and comfy. Of all cupcakes, I personally recommend the key lime. The frosting literally melts in your mouth and graham cracker crust on the bottom of the cupcake adds a great touch (pie in cupcake form). These cupcakes are literally CRACK!

We just went here for the cupcakes! I have mixed feelings. To begin with the ship was rally cute, almost vintage, but we ended up getting the mini cupcakes and the container the sales associate used was a fail! Two seconds out the door our cupcakes fell over and were completely ruined! I highly recommend a better system to store the cupcakes!

I was really excited to visit this shop as I am a huge fan of cupcakes and whimsical destinations! This shop is beautiful! The décor is great and the candy selection is amazing. My sister and I ordered a dozen mini cupcakes and while the flavors were great, we didn’t even make it out of the store without them flipping over and smashing on their sides. The product still tasted great but I just wish the packaging was more mini-​cupcake friendly. Customer service was a bit on the snippy side. We took a few minutes deciding on flavors and it felt like we were bothering the cashier. Such a shame since the shop is so beautiful.

Sweet Haus is awesome. The cupcakes are great (my favorites are cookie dough, key lime, cookies and cream and strawberry). The play area for kids is really nice.
The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because I ordered cupcakes for a birthday party and was really disappointed. I asked for specific decoration on the top (very simple, but specific), and instead just got a gummy candy thrown on top of some of the cupcakes. I wont order for a party again, but we do stop in for a special treat every few weeks.

Unfortunately never got to see the interior of the store but had a friend pick up 22 mini cupcakes for a friend’s birthday of all flavours– such a neat range– had such a fun time picking out 22 of them!

This place is kinda amazing! After my partner finished her vanilla cupcake with chocolate chip cookie dough frosting she said, «that’s the best cupcake I’ve ever had,» and she’s French, so that’s saying something! I was also in heaven because there are big candy jars from which you can help yourself to Haribo gummies and other delicious candies.
After purchasing your goodies you can cozy up in the spacious and bright seating area while eating-​more like devouring– your treats. On the day we visited they had the door open so you could enjoy a taste of being inside while sitting comfortably on their super cute vintage couch.
I wish we lived closer because I would visit this place pretty often!
