Highly recommend Burton’s Grill. Service was very good. Attentive but not annoying. Food was phenomenal. My filet was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The risotto was absolutely delicious. I will definitely go back next time I’m in Charlottesville.

Burton’s grill is totally perfect to take your family or go on a date at. We ate here the day before my graduation and we ordered all over the place– I had she-crab soup and crab cakes with my mom, which were superb. Dad ordered this massive steak and shrimp Argentinian style dish, bro had the steak sandwich, little sis had the dry wings, and the bf had a salad with a reuben. We all liked our dishes, and if you’re a Stonefield employee you get 15% off here! I highly recommend coming here for a special occasion!

Really, really love this place… as in my mom was in town visiting and we went to lunch here both days kind of love. Service: talk about friendly and accommodating. As soon as you walk in you are greeted and asked if anyone needs a gluten free menu. Both our waitresses were incredibly nice and knew the menu really well. I’ve been to some places in town where it is apparent the wait staff has not had the meals from the restaurant they work for but that was not the case here. The meals are made from scratch so they take allergies and preferences into consideration when ordering. Our waitresses were attentive without being pushy. Food: Whatever you do, get a meal with salmon because it melts in your mouth. The first day for lunch I got the mediterranean salad with salmon and it was one of the best lunches I’ve had in this area. The salmon was grilled perfectly and flaked right off the fork. The veggies were crisp and fresh. All in all, it was a killer salad. The second day I got the Turkey Avocado sandwich which was good as well, just not as good as the salad from the previous day. Sandwiches are made with ABC bread and they definitely do not skimp on turkey or avocado. The lemon aioli added a nice zest to a basic sandwich.

Yummmmm. I dig it. Big time. I was visiting for Memorial Day to hike Crabtree with my husband and our bff — staying at the nearby Hilton Suites and we found Burton’s on Unilocal. The pics looked good and the reviews said it was full of local and fresh food which is usually my thing so we headed here after a long day of hiking. We were easily and promptly seated. I already knew I liked it when they asked if we had any allergies and needed a gluten free menu at the start. Our waitress was very polite — almost to the point of forced — but it seemed fairly genuine so I have no complaints! I saw a mint lemonade drink on the menu and asked if they could put some mint syrup in my sweet tea and they happily obliged. YUM. I chose to get the salmon burger which comes with greens, tomato, and a mustard. I asked for aoili on the side and got the cucumber salad. My husband’s burger had pickles so I also added those. YUM! It was delicious — I loved the salmon burger, loved the bun, loved the cucumber salad. It was all a win. It tasted really good with the pickles so I’d suggest adding those if you love pickles. Their french fries were amazing and the fresh bread they bring to the table with olive oil was also really really good. My friend ate like 8 pieces I’m pretty sure. They had some yummy dessert options on the menu and I wish I had tried the chocolate torte — but I will next time. The ambiance inside is very classy and nice — the open kitchen means you can see your food being prepared — plenty of seating and booths and comfy chairs — great attentive and polite service — the meal was timed well — excellent location. All a win — next time I’m in Charlottesville I’ll stop in again. I loved it.

Burtons is the place to go if you have dietary restrictions. However, be prepared to wait at peak times, and it isn’t inexpensive. The food is always well prepared, and the service is top notch. Equally good for a family dinner with out of town guests, or cocktails and dessert on a date night at the bar. It’s a mainstay on our rotation. Ample parking too.

Third visit — second time food was notably undercooked. Even after hanger steak was returned for a re-cook it never reached medium rare. I still enjoy the atmosphere — especially outside — and the service is terrific. From my second visit: Sheik atmosphere, progressive attitude, and pleasant service, so I tried again despite a half-baked fish entrée last time. Good wine selection, but again can’t rave about the crabcakes or beet salad at this price point.

Love this place! First, Burton’s cares about food allergies — it’s one of the first things servers ask. I frequently eat there with a friend who has severe nut allergies — the kitchen and servers are well-trained on this issue. Second, the food is delish! It’s not a cheap meal but it’s always worth it!

We recently visited Burtons and have had great service in the past, this time our meal was not cooked properly, the amount of time it took was not usual and without explanation and we were just disappointed overall. I wish we could have left a better review, but the quality, food, and service was not very good on our latest visit.

I had the Mediterranean Risotto. It was very flavorful; I really enjoyed it. My husband had the burger and it was tasty! My step-kids enjoyed their food too. I would highly recommend this place to friends and family; and I will definitely go there again!

Went here with family who lives in the area. Had a reservation for 7. Table was ready on time and ambiance was nice. Sat in one of their high booths. First, the food. It was fine — several vegetarian options. Beet salad was fantastic. Unique presentation with thin layer of goat cheese on top. Potato appetizer was delicious too. Entrees of various pastas and veggie burgers were good. One of us had the scallop special which while tasty — the server didn’t tell us was a whopping $ 33+!! Which gets to the service. Service was absolutely terrible. I would have given the food 4 stars but service barely 1. She was rude — got our simple drink order of beers and tea wrong, was inattentive to every detail — had to flag down others to refill waters, dishes sat on the table. Really really bad for the price of food. It was very crowded but we saw plenty of other tables being serviced well. Service was so bad we passed on dessert so as not to prolong our agony.

My fiancé and I had a great lunch at Burtons! We decided to sit in the lounge so we could watch the basketball game on TV– and had a fantastic server, Jessica. Everything we ordered was delicious, including our drinks. I ordered a Moscow mule and the fish sandwich(fish of the day was cod). My fiancé ordered the Maxx burger an IPA. Can’t wait to go back and highly recommend!

Was staying at the Homewood across the street, visited based on the reviews – even with the handful of 1 – 3 stars. We walked around 6 – 7 on a weekday and was surprised to see it packed. The food quality is great, the food preparation area is open to the sitting area and can see the head chef. You pay more than the average dinner but it’s not over-priced. Highly recommend but suggest making reservations, this seems to be a very popular place for dinner.

Came from out of town to have lunch here. It was very clean I ate outside on the cute little patio. All of the staff where super friendly and sweet they are big on food allergies so if you need to to be gluten free, vegan, or vegetarian they have a special menu which was amazing. I was a little sad that we didn’t get the bread, I assume it was because my table ordered and appetizer. We ordered the buffalo chicken dip it was pretty tasty. For the main course I ordered the California Chicken sandwich it comes with fries but they had plenty of other options to substitute it with, which I did! To finish everything off we ordered an ice cream Sunday which was huge! Too big for one person and it was shared between 3! I would defiantly go back

I have been to Burtons Grill in Charlottesville, VA a few times now for a variety of reasons, and it is a nice location and I would recommend it but Charlottesville has a lot of great lunch locations and that is why I am only giving 3 stars. I am not blown away by this place even though I have heard great things about this place. I highly recommend it for lunch though, because they have friendly and efficient service. It is a nice atmosphere, very clean, but somewhat pricey, the menu is limited for lunch offerings and their lighter options are on the expensive side. They do offer half options for their entrees but most of those seemed too heavy to have for lunch. One of the more positive things about this restaurant is that they are great at accommodating for dietary restrictions. They have a separate menu with only vegetarian options, the server asked right away if there were any allergies, dietary restricts, etc. Which was nice because we were dinning with a few people who were currently on diets, vegetarians, etc. So that is definitely a perk when trying to find a restaurant for a group. I will definitely be back, since I know people in the Charlottesville area who love this location, the staff is very friendly, the service is quick and the location is great for when I am in the Charlottesville area.

WARNING: STAYAWAY. GOANYWHEREELSE. IFYOUAREANOUTOFTOWNER, THISIS A TRAP!!! After my experience at Burtons last night, I can only surmise that this place exists solely to lure in out-of-towners such as those visiting Monticello or UVa parents staying at the adjacent Hyatt. Rarely does a restaurant cause such extreme frustration and an ultimately overwhelming feeling of disappointment. Strangely though, the place was packed out to the brim. After spending some time in Charlottesville though, I came to realize this has less to do with the fact that a restaurant is actually good and more to do with the fact that there just aren’t very many non-chain places to eat where you don’t have to park in a garage. So, where to begin? How about here: — Was told there would be a 35-minute wait. Fine. But then it was 70 minutes before my party was seated. When I went up at the hour mark and asked where we were on the list, I was told by the hostess we were next in line. They then proceeded to seat three parties of equal size before us. When we inquired again, we were told that they basically pick a table to put your name on and you’re waiting on that specific table before they seat you. So it’s not first-come, first-serve with the list, even for parties of equal size. Though it wouldn’t matter — there’s a huge waste of space in Burtons. Despite the fact that more than half of the parties were for two people only, every single booth and table in the joint is set up for larger. — The restaurant is super dark. Not just mood lighting dark, but nearly pitch black. Maybe to hide dirt? I can only wonder. The reviewer who mentioned bringing a flashlight next time is NOT exaggerating! — I noticed during my boredom of waiting for more than an hour that the fire alarm system was in «trouble» mode and not functioning correctly. You can see the picture I uploaded of that. — The food was just barely OK. Totally bland and uninspired. The menu had a little variety, but not much, and it’s pretty small. The special bison meatloaf had no flavor and crumbled apart — last time I checked, you’re supposed to use a binder when you make meatloaf! The mashed potatoes were barely warm and very lumpy. The bronzed mahi was dry, and the vegetables all were very definitely frozen. They must not of drained them either after thawing them because they were soaking wet and soggy on the plate. They also give you bread, cold. Because everyone hates warm bread I guess, right?! — Shockingly, two iced teas, the meatloaf special and the mahi came to $ 70 before tip. There wasn’t enough food on the plate, much less GOOD enough food on the plate to justify this at all. I’ve spent half as much on meals twice as delicious and fancy. This place tries to be fancy, but it’s just pretentious and doesn’t have the chef chops to back it up. It’s basically a really dark Applebee’s. I honestly didn’t find anywhere in Charlottesville to fall in love with. The food scene is pretty crowded yet pretty week. They really need more. But regardless of where you do get into, you can do much better than Burtons.

My husband and I tried Burtons Grill for the first time, and we were impressed by the quality of food and service. I try to avoid chains when possible, but I think this will be a good go-to in Charlottesville for us. The pan roasted chicken was great, as was the swordfish special. The bar scene was also impressive for a Wednesday night. We’ll be back.

Burton’s Grill has a new Italian/American feel with classic offerings such as risotto, burgers, steak, salads, among other items. I’ve come here a few times now and really enjoyed the shrimp risotto for it’s mindful attention to all elements of the dish. The risotto was creamy, shrimp was perfectly cooked, the feta was folded in at the right time so that it was blended but not decimated in the dish, and the greens were nicely sautéed. The complimentary bread and olive oil with parmesan accents are unique as it is delicious. Crab bisque was also quite good with a hint of creamy and bits of crab and chive. The service has been friendly, attentive, and very articulate on the menu with a lot of attention paid to food allergies and restrictions. They offer a gluten free menu which is a nice touch for those that feel awkward asking about it. The interior of the restaurant is classy with dark wood, modern light fixtures, wood and metals throughout. This is a good place for taking your family to dinner, date night, and getting friends together.

Solid«nicer» American cuisine. We took advantage of a special where you got 2 entrees, a bottle of wine, and a $ 20 Regal gift card for $ 50 total. It looks like they don’t have that deal anymore, bummer.

Came here for Valentine’s day with the BF and we both had a great time! There’s plenty of parking behind the restaurant(which was lucky for me since it had just started snowing and I stubbornly still wore my heels out). The food is a little bit on the expensive side, but the service is great and I think the ingredients are local too! We decided to forgo the special Valentine’s day menu and ordered off the normal menu. I got the crab cakes which were delicious and BF got salmon pasta. We finished both our dishes in record time! Also, I don’t know if it was because it was Valentine’s day or if they do this normally, but our server also gave us some free truffle balls to try after our meal. A great not too formal atmosphere and friendly staff!
