Awesome burgers! Not as greasy as Riverside. Excellent fries and FAST! For some reason I always seem to crave Martin’s in Mondays… when it’s closed. It will sync up with my cravings soon! We get fried mushrooms… chicken fingers… burgers. All is excellent. Highly recommend!

Excellent cheeseburger with free toppings for just $ 3.79! No frills and no healthy choices but the best burger you can get for the price. Service was great, too. Definitely go but don’t expect anything fancy.

This is the quick, inexpensive burger place that 5 Guys or Fosters wants to be but isn’t. They should be the poster child for a quality burger at a great price, and many more choices of classic sides that some chains. The staff was very friendly when I went, taking better care of me than some places where the condiments weren’t in Coors Light six packs.

Some of the best burgers I have ever had. I have been to most of the burger places in Charlottesville. You can have your burger cooked to order so just ask. Simple burgers not crazy stuff like the other places around. If you do something simple do it right and they do it right. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is the fact that other then the burgers and sides. Most everything else is just average to above average. So go there for the burgers and tater tots.

Not bad! They won best burger for Charlottesville, but to me a burger joint is a burger joint. Their onion rings were great, and instead of a burger I decided to get their Philly cheese steak. Reason I didn’t give 5 stars was bc my husband’s burger was nothing amazing, just good.

A family owned restaurant with great food at a cheap prices. Typical grill food: wings, burgers, beer, and sandwiches. Owners and staff are very friendly and will remember you if you return.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Burgers were AMAZING! Also got a basket of fries(yum), tater tots(yum), fried pickles(pickle spears not chips(ok), corn dog nuggets(tasty), and chicken strips(big but ok). The best thing were the burger and fries, staff, and comfortable dining area. Great ambiance as well. Go try it. Many people have talked about the food being good and I agree!

We tried Martin’s today for lunch because we wanted something easy, comfortable and close to my husband’s office. The guys are really friendly and quick to take orders. I had a hamburger, my husband had a philly steak and cheese and my daughter had a chicken filet sandwich. We shared a basket of ½ and ½ fries and onion rings. Everything arrived quickly… hot and fresh. DELICIOUS. If you want fast food fast and delicious you will not be disappointed here.

Martin’s Grill is THESPOT! This is the type of place where you get good service and yummy, home cooked food served by down to earth, friendly people. Don’t expect fancy-shmancy here — that’s not what it’s about. They have burgers(we got a double bacon cheeseburger), dogs, philly’s, sandwiches, and other food like that as well as fry and onion ring baskets, pretzel bites, mac and cheese wedges, and similar snacks. Prices are really good(regular burger $ 3, beer $ 3, larger sandwiches $ 4-$ 6). Our food was served on paper plates which did not bother us but in snooty Charlottesville I could see people freaking out about that. Last night was our first time at Martin’s Grill and we will definitely be back there. You just got the vibe that the people that run and work at Martin’s are genuinely good folks. Oh there’s also a Sunday breakfast buffet for $ 7.95!

This is my favorite burger in Charlottesville. Easy choice. It’s simple and classic. The food options are your regular grill. I’m a cheeseburger and fries fan. We end up getting a half fries, half rings basket. So much fries goodness. The service is quick and super friendly. The establishment is well run and the people care about what they are doing. Plus, they have beer and sports if you are into that. They are screening some NFL as I type.

Just had a mouth watering bacon double cheeseburger and a basket of half fries and half onion rings! Service was provided by a friendly, smiling and knowledgeable staff person. She gave me plenty of time to make up my mind and willingly shared her recommendations. Burgers are topped to your order with a big selection of toppings at no additional cost. If you want an old fashion burger try this place and I promise you will not be asking where is the beef! The fries were good however the onion rings where one of the best I have had! Come here and put a ring on it or go home and cry over your own onions!

The goal of the night was a BURGER. And a good classic diner burger Martin’s gives you! When the New Year’s resolution has you eating healthy, then this is a great splurge place for ya. Straightforward good. Fries, skinny and golden. Sweet Tea. oh yeah. Excellent grill at a perfect price! Staff is sooo nice and with the laid back atmosphere, you can just get comfortable and dig in. Great place to go with friends when you wanna talk loud and laugh!

Walking in the restaurant is unimpressive. Hot cocoa made from mix with no whipped cream but still tasty. Nice waitress. Music at mid level in background… country Brunswick stew small serving and not too exciting. Good fries. All food served in paper plates and styrofoam. Mini corndogs made from frozen pack. Nothing on the menu could not have been made at home in less than 20 minutes. Footlong All The Way was uninteresting — spicy yet bland Burger was very tasty. THISRESTAURANTISGOODFORITSTYPEOFPLACE, make sure you like this type of place though.(Small american not homemade menu)

I’ve been eating here ever since the first year they opened when I lived about five minutes away in Northern Albemarle County almost near Greene. The first time I ate here was with my father and younger sister when he treated us to dinner but didn’t want to go into town and get stuck in post UVA football game traffic up 29. Martin’s was new and we hadn’t tried it yet so we decided to eat here and I’ve been a fan ever since and everyone in my family likes Martin’s as well as some close friends from church! This place is by far my favorite burger place in Charlottesville and favorite local restaurant that isn’t fast food. The double bacon cheeseburger and Philly Cheese Steak are my favorites but they also make a good chicken salad. Everything there goes great with a side or basket of fries or fried mushrooms. If you don’t want or like fries they have plenty of other choices besides just the mushrooms. The whole place is non-smoking so you can breathe fine in here while you chat with your party or watch one of the four TV’s. The staff is always friendly and if your a regular the staff might even know your drink order. When I’m by myself I sit at the bar to avoid taking up a table and my favorite memory of this place is walking in one time one of the cooks was setting my Dr. Pepper down on the bar! If that’s not excellent service then I don’t know what is. There’s different«sizes» of burgers to choose from from a single to a quad as well as different types of subs. The food is great and in the years I’ve eaten there I only had one thing I didn’t like. The only negative thing I have to say is it would be nice if there were more seats especially for the Sunday«after church rush.» Ownership changed last year from the original owner to two of the employees who are father and son. Since new ownership veggie burgers and desserts have been added to the menu as well as few different wines. But the food is still great. Look for them on Facebook to see their full menu as well as special dishes they offer from time to time. If you want a good burger then come by Martin’s Grill! Even if it is a little tricky to get into the parking lot it is well worth the trouble!

I had low expectations walking in since this restaurant is in a small shopping strip outside of town by the Target. The menu was simple but had a decent number of choices. The burgers are five guys style and I think I might like it better than five guys. The BLT was good piled with lots of bacon and the prices were great. The shoe string fries were great and the service was friendly.
