Stopped in with my mom for a walk-in mani/pedi. The spa is clean, spacious, and there is no chemical smell in the air. We had a slight wait, but no more than ten minutes, while they finished up with customers so that we could go together. The pedicure includes a hot stone massage(highly recommend) and the manicure was quick and high-quality. Also, given that my feet are basically bear feet, I was very impressed by how thoroughly they got scrubbed — they look like new. There is a great combo deal(mani/pedi for $ 45) that I will definitely do again.

My new go-to nail place in Charlottesville. It’s spotlessly clean and pretty inside, and the technicians always do a great job. I’ve had gel nails, regular polish, and a special kind of natural gel done here, and I’ve been really happy with the result every time.

This is definitely the best place in Charlottesville to get your nails done. It’s a little pricier than other places, but it is clean and they do a good job which makes it more than worth it. I would recommend getting an appointment because they were pretty busy the day I was in.

I’ve been here twice now after searching all over the city for a place to get my biweekly services done(nails/pedi/eyebrows) and I have to say this place is fabulous. They are pricier, but you get what you pay for. Atmosphere is nice, everything is very clean, and there seems to be plenty of room for everyone. As for customer service, if you make an appointment, THEYWILLKEEPYOURAPPOINTMENT. And they stayed open twenty minutes after closing to finish my nails last night(without complaint) so that has officially sealed the deal for me. I’m a regular now. I recommend Vannak for nails/eyebrows and one of the younger ladies for a pedicure(light skin, big eyes, dark hair… glasses? her name starts with a B but I can’t remember and I feel silly).

Had great expectations for this place, it was very clean and a nice atmosphere. I decided on a gel manicure, however the girl that had done my nails was not friendly nor did she ask me if I was satisfied with my nails. And barley a week later, my manicure is already ruined. Very disappointed for the amount I had paid.

Such a neat salon! My mom, sister, grandmother, and I all got our nails done there for my wedding. The entire staff was so sweet and fun to be around. The salon was clean and upscale. The gel manis were impeccable and there were soooo many color choices. I was so very impressed!

Just got a fresh mani(gel) and pedi here yesterday. Red Handed was bright, clean, classy, and relaxing! Ask for Trella, she did an awesome job and was fun to talk to. It was $ 65 for a gel mani and basic pedi, so maybe just a little bit more expensive than your typical nail place, but I like the relaxing atmosphere and it didn’t smell like chemicals. I think they also do military discount too.

Got my eyebrows waxed with my sister after lunch and it was convenient to come to this particular salon right next door, and we both came out with red, stinging skin from the ripping. My sister ended up with a scar on her brow bones and there’s just a lot of discomfort. Also very expensive, $ 13 for waxing which is the most I’ve paid for not-so-good quality. I don’t usually complain about the pain or discomfort from waxing, but it was just not a good experience here. It’s a nice place and everyone’s nice, and you can tell it’s a pricier salon, but just not worth getting your brows waxed there. I’m sure they do very good manis and pedis.

I’m shocked to see bad reviews. I had the best mani/pedi EVER there! I was willing to pay a higher price for organic products but didn’t think that the non-organic options were much more than I had been paying at a salon a few miles away. I wasn’t sure if it would be busy, so I used the online form to submit a request for an appointment. It was after hours but I received a phone call right away when they opened the next day, confirming my appointment. I walked in and the salon was beautiful. The pedi chairs are the most comfortable ones that I’ve ever sat in. I’m short, and the rollers tend to hit me in the wrong places, but Netta adjusted my chair(without me having to ask) so that I was at the appropriate distance for my legs. The setting was quiet and relaxed. My manicure lasted an hour! I’ve never had anyone massage my legs and feet so much… it was blissful! I received a long massage with the exfoliation and my legs were then wrapped in saran wrap and warm, wet towels, with a dry towel placed over top to keep my legs warm. When this was removed, my legs and feet were massaged with hot stones. Then, I got even more massaging with the application of lotion. The nail polish wasn’t applied in a hurry and therefore wasn’t sloppy. My manicure went very well, also. Netta did not rush through it at all, despite me being there almost an hour after closing. She diligently applied nail designs to two of my nails. I could tell that she took pride in her work and was passionate about what she did. She even helped me get my socks and boots back on so that I didn’t ruin my fingernails. I will definitely be back and have already been telling my family and friends to try it out. I might not go with the organic option next time due to price, but I like knowing that I at least have the option.

The manicure I got at Red Handed was unfortunately, probably the worst I’ve ever had. And at $ 18 + tip, that stings. They were able to take me right away on a Friday afternoon, so I chose a color(their selection was OK) and was seated at a counter-like setup they have. The salon is clean and new, but I can’t say I love the counter seating, it’s not very comfortable or relaxing. I told my manicurist that I had clear polish on, but she didn’t take it off and proceeded anyway. The manicure was so fast. She did a very quick file job, which was almost painful, and all my nails were uneven. She also spent very little time on my cuticles. Once she finished the polish, instead of taking me over to the drying area(I think that’s what it was, it looks like one even though no one was using it), she turned a tiny fan on at the counter and left me to dry. When I looked closer at my manicure I was shocked at how terrible of a polish job it was. None of the polish was to the edge of my nails, some nails hardly had polish on the tips, and there was extra polish all over my fingers. It truly looked like a child did my nails for me. The top coat also had tons of bubbles in it. All the girls not working were in some kind of back room, I could hear them laughing and talking. I was hoping to find a manager to express my concern but eventually, the only person that came out was the girl who did my nails. I told her they weren’t drying even after 10 minutes because the polish was slathered on so thick, and she said it was just the polish I chose and didn’t seem to care at all. At that point I gave up hope and decided to finish drying and just leave. When I turned around, I saw my girl sitting at the reception desk playing on Pinterest and watching a movie on her phone. I feel like $ 18 is pretty steep for a manicure in Charlottesville. I’ve lived in NYC and Chicago and $ 18 gets you a heck of a lot more. Red Handed doesn’t even give you a shoulder massage at the end. If they’re going to keep charging what they do, they’re going to have to really revisit the services they provide and the training they offer to their staff. I’m disappointed that this won’t be my new go-to nail salon. I hesitantly give 2 stars for cleanliness and the fact that some of the workers I interacted with were at least friendly.

Nice setting and location. Very clean and brand new. Great polish selection WAY overpriced. This is Charlottesville not NY or DC yet their prices are the same as these cities. Unfortunately, bad attitude from the Asian lady. Not Sure her name but as a new business that was a really bad move. Won’t be back for that reason.
