For a place that’s all about soup, the soup here is pretty below average. There’s no way they’re making it fresh. The salt content and corn starch are through the roof. The salads and wraps make for a good lunch.

I have decided that the three sisters soup is now my favorite! Make sure you get one of their homemade cornbread muffins to dunk into the soup… the crumbs will fall to the bottom of your bowl and sop up the last few bites which will leave you craving more!

Love this place! Their tofu wrap and thai peanut soup is amazing! They also have a pretty fantastic salad, and always fabulous vegan options. One of my favorite places to eat!

An amazing find right off Main Street. I ordered their spicy peanut tofu soup and was thoroughly pleased. It had a nice spicy kick without being over powering. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, think good college vibes. A cornbread muffin comes on the side. Being in the South expectations for cornbread are high and I was not disappointed. My friend ordered the Spinach bisque and commented«it is creamy and supremely delicious with a slight buttery finish.» Next time we come to Charlottesville we will be sure to stop in again.

This place was great! The lamb curry was absolutely amazing. Really more a bowl of rice with lentils/lamb in curry poured over top of it than soup, which is actually awesome in my opinion. It was very flavorful, just as good as lamb curry I’ve had at some Indian places. The spinach/mushroom/black bean wrap that accompanied my sandwich was also very awesome. I was surprised at how much healthful food I got for the price! I came away full. Also, bonus points for Coke products in the fountain machine. Minus one star for a really cramped atmosphere with too many tiny tables crammed in an already tiny space. Couldn’t even take my coat off without walking out into the entrance to do it and then navigating back between tables.

I’m a skier for a good soup and sandwich combo. Revolutionary Soup does it perfectly. We went to RS with the entire family after an outing in Charlottesville. I mean, everybody was there. Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Mark, two toddlers, and mom and dad(me). The menu had enough safe and exciting options to keep everybody happy. There were also plenty of veggie options for my wife. The food was more than plentiful. Super delicious across the board. I’m always looking for good bread in a sandwich, too. RS bread is chewy and crunchy at the same time. I could have just eaten bread and soup and been very content. This is a 5 star gem in Charlottesville. Next time you’re walking the mall, do yourself a favor and wander into Revolutionary Soup. You won’t regret it!

I enjoyed the miso soup and the grilled tofu sandwich. Both were vegan. I like that they use some local ingredients. The downtown location is spacious and a good place to hang out. The service is very friendly and helpful.

Good, but not amazing like I had hoped! I had the mozzarella pesto sandwich and I was not impressed. My husband had the tomato soup and grilled cheese and we both agreed we have had better. The service was very friendly and their menu was extensive, so I hope to find something I like better next time.

This place is a bit small and looks like a whole in the wall type establishment but I was quite impressed. The staff was very friendly and helpful, their soups in particular are delicious, and I was impressed with the amount of vegan options they had(which were clearly labeled along with gluten free, dairy free, and vegetarian options.) this was my first food experience in Charlottesville and overall I would say give it a shot especially if you are looking for heal their options.

I have a love hate relationship(mostly love) with Rev Soup. I used to work downtown and would go there at least once a week for their amazing and delicious rosemary potato soup.(In the winter it becomes baked potato soup with bacon and OMG.) I also really love their sandwiches, and usually get the kickin chicken as a wrap. The chicken is always fresh. Their chipotle mayo is also the perfect amount of heat. Sometimes I’ll also get their greek salad which is crisp and usually has a lot of cheese and olives for the size. Despite how much I love the food, I have a couple of issues: it’s pretty pricey, and the food can be really inconsistent or sloppy. I’ve gotten wraps that are very small and on other days, very large. I’ve also had multiple occasions where they forget a sandwich topping. Most recently I ordered the kickin chicken wrap without peppers, and it had nothing else on it besides lettuce and mayo – no bacon, no tomato, and very minimal cheese. That was disappointing given the price. But since I love their potato soup, I’ll be back.

Even if I do not frequent this place much, I do like what they are doing. From local food and drinks to all kinds of combinations, and being incredibly vegetarian and vegan friendly, this place has enough for you to keep trying for a while until you get tired of it. The prices for most of the the things on the menu are incredibly reasonable, based on what you are getting, and everything comes out tasting fresh. This place is definitely good for when it is cold or raining! If you come in at a busy time, prepare to stand in line for a while, for it does move slowly.

I love this place! It’s small and quaint with a unique menu. I loooved the peanut thai soup and marylan crab. Very delicious paired with a ham and brie sandwich. I definitely recommend esp now that Fall is here.

Rev Soup is a great spot for lunch or takeout. As the name suggests, they have a lot of good soup, which changes daily(although there are a lot of regulars). They also have sandwiches/wraps and salads. You order from the counter, grab a seat and wait for you name to be called. Some favorites are: the lamb curry, the corn & crab soup, the Thai wrap with chicken, the grilled cheese, the Adam’s Apple, and the ham & brie.

I love the idea and the location was really adorable. The food was good too, but I docked stars because it’s a bit confusing(at least for me) to figure out what the heck was going on. The ordering area was packed with people and that’s where a lot of the confusion came from. The second thing was seating – or the complete lack thereof. I was actually thinking to myself, «What’s the maximum number of people that can be crammed in here before it’s an utter fire hazard?» I had to awkwardly loiter waiting for a seat which did eventually come available within a not so unreasonable amount of time. The sandwich I had – which I’ve sadly forgotten the name of, was tasty. The beer I had was even more tasty. Overall, not mindblowing or anything. If you’re in the area, I’d suggest stopping by. But, if it’s a riot inside, I would say don’t be too upset and find a new place nearby.

Small and crowded, you probably can still get a table here any weekday, even at noon. For what it does, Revolutionary Soup is exceptional. Choose from eight or nine soups and a great variety of sandwiches. Everything will be fresh(they are proud of using local ingredients), tasty, and expertly prepared. One thing to watch out for — the soups can be very hot. Careful with that first spoon full. The five star rating is for food and value(Revolutionary Soup is no ripoff, even if it is in the downtown mall). These make up for the lack of ambience. I’d probably go to the mall just to eat here.

I feel bad putting 2 stars on my review. I have heard great things about this place. I am not really a soup person but they have other options so I got the quesadilla. Not sure if it was a special or not but do not get it to go. They put some kind of sauce on top but when they put it in the to go box the sauce got all over the quesadilla and it basically turned to mush. It was so messy and disgusting I couldn’t finish it. Such a waste. And they were out of the white cheddar that originally came in it. That’s not their fault. But my suggestion to them is: if anything comes with a drizzle of sauce on top and your customer asked for it to go, put the sauce in a ramiken!

Really nice find just off the mall. The food is great and it has a nice rustic(read: hipster) feel in the basement level of a building. The lamb curry was excellent. Curry chicken salad was pretty good too, but it was overshadowed by the lamb. I will come back next time I am in C’ville. This would also be a good place to linger over a glass of beer or wine. Would have been nice to have real brewed ice tea as a non-alcoholic option but I realize it’s probably a little north for that…

Last month, I had the pleasure of working near the mall for the day, and I knew right away where I wanted to go to lunch. I even convinced another co-worker to join me there. We arrived shortly before one, and the place was packed with a huge line. If you head there around lunchtime, plan a little extra time because we were there a while even though we got our food to go. Their menu is displayed above the counter where you order, so you can change your mind about what you want to order a million times while you’re waiting. They have a combo, which is around $ 10 and comes with a fountain drink. I got the Spicy Senegalese Peanut Tofu soup and the Thai wrap with tofu. I grabbed my drink, and the ice had some questionable flecks in it… maybe it’s time to clean that thing. It seemed to take a really, really long time for my order to come out. When I went up to the counter to check on it, it turned out that someone misplaced my ticket, so they hadn’t made my sandwich. Now for the food! The soup was absolutely amazing! It was served at the right temperature, even though I got it to go, and was super flavorful! It was exactly what I was expecting, and I really enjoyed it. The Thai wrap on the other hand was pretty disappointing. It could have used a little bit more«Thai» thrown in because it was somewhat bland. All in all, I had a good experience at Rev Soup. I would definitely go back for the soup, but I’d try a different sandwich next time.

Salads are terrible here. We had the Thai wrap and a side of med curry, they were pretty good. But there was something wrong with the curry, I burped it up a lot and that never happens to me. I would have given this place 3 stars but for this little amount of food and a crappy Athens salad for $ 20 not including tip… Not worth it for a meal. Maybe a on the go wrap would be good but that’s about it.

Didn’t have any soup so maybe this review is not fair but… The spinach black bean wrap was bland even though there was a supposed spicy sauce in it. They did put a good amount of spinach though and it was wrapped tightly. The one star is basically because it really was not worth the cost or time to go there and the environment was not that clean or pleasant at the time I was there.
