Wings Over Charlottesville

Our order got messed up, with only one wing flavor instead of three.
When called to get another fixed order of wings, it never got delivered.
Probably will never go there again.

I’ve been in Charlottesville for ages, and never stopped by Wings Over Charlottesville, even though I am in the area on a daily basis. Stopped by last night to try out their wings I have heard so much about.
Let’s just say I will never stop by or order food from this establishment ever again.
This place is an utter train wreck, where should I even begin? I guess a good starting point is the food (as it is a dining establishment).
Their wings are mediocre at BEST. I tried a few different flavors — the Teriyaki, «Crusin’ Altitude», and the Hot Garlic (or maybe it was the Garlic Parmesan, I don’t recall exactly). Just was not impressed at all — I’ve had better wings at a restaurant that does not specialize in specifically wings. I gave their Waffle Fries a try as well with this meal. It’s like all they did was put some junk seasoning on them that had no flavor what-​so-​ever, and it was just spicy. I’ve had plenty of Cajun style food in my days, and this was far from it. Not to mention the fries were extremely soggy, like mashed potatoes. Only ate a few fries and ended up tossing them in the garbage, which seems like a more appropriate place than in your mouth.
Moving on to the appearance of the establishment, I don’t think a single employee here has ever used any sort of cleaning apparatus or cleaning supply in their life. The walls are stained, floor absolutely disgusting, the dining area had trash on the floor, and two of the three tables they do have here had trash and sauce smears on them. Absolute turn off. They try to make up for this by having a large fish tank as soon as you walk in the door… however the tank was extremely dirty and looked like it had not been cleaned in quite some time — I’m surprised the fish that occupied the tank were even still alive!
The employees here (or at least the ones I was able to interact with and/​or observe) seemed to have customer service as the number 99 priority. The gentlemen working the front who took orders seemed to be too indulged in his cell phone to really give a rats ass about the customers, and his attitude made it seem like it was a chore to even communicate with the customers. There were individuals in the kitchen area openly using extreme profanity, even though myself and about 6 – 7 other customers waiting for their food were feet away. At one point one of the employees yelled to another employee to create a sign and place it on the bathroom door (because somebody had apparently left their feces on the toilet seat as well as the floor from what employees stated). When the employee tasked with this larger than life task exclaimed that he couldn’t find tape or scissors, a pair of scissors came hurling over the front desk from the kitchen, hitting the wall in the waiting area and missing a customer by only a foot. Is this real life? Was I dreaming? Seems to be extremely poorly managed to say the least.
That being said, this place is a disaster and is in utter need of a complete overhaul. I would not recommend this establishment to my worst enemy. If there was an option for zero stars, believe me I would click it. Total waste of time to attempt to dine here.

I got lunch from here a couple of weeks ago and was quite sick for a few days later. I have a weak stomach so it’s not necessarily their fault (and the wings didn’t taste bad), but I won’t be back.
If you do order from here, you should probably get delivery; the location is dirty and the employees seem unorganized. When I came to pick up my food, the cashier was outside smoking and I had to wait until he finished to get my food. Considering the restaurant had only opened 30 minutes earlier, I was shocked.

I love wings over Charlottesville! It’s been through so much of my late night pig-​outs and super bowl watching parties while I was in college!
I look forward to picking up some wings every time I go back to visit. My favorite flavors are honey bbq and garlic parmesan.
This time when I went back, I had the wings while I was completely sober and although they were not the most tender (some were overcooked), I still enjoyed every bite of it!
One word of advice is to PLEASE listen to the workers there when they give you a «you crazy» look. When I ordered the DC-​10, the conversation went like this:
Me: How many boneless wings are in a pound?
Guy behind cash register: about 8
Me: That’s it?
Guy: *gives me the ‘youre crazy’ look* do you know how big our wings are?
Me: Yes! I’ve had them so many times! I can eat more!
I was trying to share with a friend and estimated that we’d each need 6 at least. Needless to say, I way-​overestimated myself and was full after the 4^th wing.
Still the best mistake ever though!

I was skeptical of this hole in the wall carry out place but holy crap, their wings are legit amazing. I live near Hollymead but will drive across town just for this deliciousness. Highly recommend honey BBQ and garlic Parmesan. Nom nom nom.

Good wings, great sauce. The wings could use a little more sauce. Smokey and greasy in the store. No problem because I get it to go.

Wings over Charlottesville isn’t a place I had heard of until I was there for a UVa game last weekend.
We got home from the bars around 2:30 and were looking for anything to munch on that we could get delivered.
Obviously we went with pizza. We called one place. Nope. We called another. Nope. We probably called 4 places who were either Closed or located «outside of their delivery zone» which is the worst.
My friend who I was staying with suggested Wings over Charlottesville. Wings at 3 a.m. Alright, why not?
We made our order and they came in about 25 minutes. The cajun fries were pretty good and the wings were nice and crunchy and had some sauce about them, which I respect.
They weren’t the most spectacular wings/​fries I’ve ever had, but Wings over was there when we needed them, and for that I am thankful.

Sometimes, nothing hits the spot quite like late-​night wings from Wings Over. It takes a little while to deliver, since they make their wings to order, so as long as you expect the wait it’s great. They come piping hot and crispy and perfect for sharing.
I’m a fan of their garlic parmesan wings, but pretty much everything I’ve had has been good. Honey BBQ is good, sweet chili is good, honey mustard is good… Wings are just amazing at that time of night when you really shouldn’t be eating anything (especially not something deep fried and hefty) but you reaaaally want to. Yes. Do it. You will instantly regret it, but it will be really delicious so you won’t really.

Just ordered their food for the first time today. Haven’t eaten it yet, but I do not care what it tastes like. The person who delivered the food was by far one of the rudest people I have ever met. I am so disgusted that they would hire someone like that to deal with people. Even when I said thank you she would not respond and just walked away.

The good:
Fresh tasting and tasty wings. 3.5÷5 taste

Ordered 60 $ worth of wings for a end of the year get together for friends after finals, placed the order in at 7pm, waited till 8pm and nothing, so called the restaurant and an employee told us they didnt put in the order for whatever reason, then guaranteed that the order would be there within 20mins. 50mins later at 8:50pm, still nothing. Called the place back and spoke to a manager that had no frikken clue what was going on because he just got to work. Then made another guarantee that the food would be here within 15min… and tthaaaats 15mins. Do I see food in my hands yet? no, no I do not.
Are you kidding? 2+ hrs and no food. Get your employee’s on the same page and to stop lying to customers. Just because you’re a few steps off campus doesn’t mean the honor code should be completely dead to this degree. Just saying. This is ridiculous. If I could give you negative stars I would. But sadly Unilocal hasn’t incorporated such a rating system yet. When it does I’ll be sure to come change my rating.
If you’re considering getting food from here for a group of people, just keep in mind the food may not arrive until everyone has left…
…and even then, it still may not come.

Whenever I get a craving for wings I go here. However, I give up on their delivery. I am literally down the street on Main Street and the delivery driver gets lost. This is not the first time this happened to me. Do not loop around UVA on Emmet Street to come to me. Just go straight down the street via The Corner and I would’ve gotten my food in less than 5 minutes, not the amount it takes to cook and deliver the food, but the distance from the restaurant to where I was on Main Street. that day. My coworkers were wondering where the heck the food was. I had to wave and flag the driver down after giving him directions multiple times. I was at the corner of a major intersection by the way.
I also wish that they would pack napkins with my order. Eating wings can get kind of messy and the wings were over cooked. Meh.

When studying in the UVA, my girlfriend and I regularly went to this place for their wings. They have over a dozen flavors and for 25 wings you can try 5 different options. My personal favorite was garlic parmesan but all other flavors I have tried were all great as well. Bonus points for online order system and late open hours.
It’s sad we moved from Cvill but every time we got back in town we would consider this place as a dinner option.

Easily the best wings in Cville. Extra points for having an excellent online ordering system and for fast delivery.

The ribs were the best! Dry rub with each also the bomb! Late night in cville I would definitely be back if I lived around here.

As long as I am in Charlottesville, I will ALWAYS hit up this place for wings. There are so many different flavors & I’m determined to try them all. The ones that I have tried have not disappoint. I usually don’t go for dry rubs, but the ones here are crispy & totally amazing.
I’ve done delivery countless times (& delivery service is good!), but a couple nights ago, I finally ate in for the first time. The wait time for our wings wasn’t long & service was friendly. Not gonna lie though, it’s a pretty dingy-​looking place. From the outside, I expected the eating space to be much larger, but there are literally only 3 tables in there. However, I saw drivers going in & out a lot that night, so most people must prefer delivery. Nonetheless, these are the best priced & tasting wings in Charlottesville.

Wings Over is either a 5 or a 1. The issue is it is a 1 a lot more than it is a 5. Food is often soggy or ill prepared. I would also STRONGLY advise that you do not order sides if you decide to order from here. My last time the waffle fries were so soggy they were falling apart and not appealing in the least and I got 9 onion rings for 4.99.
The last time I ordered from here there were friends of an employee loitering in the restaurant. They were not shy about swearing, cackling, and yelling.
If you are willing to gamble and really want some wings delivered Wings Over might be a good bet for you. Remember to not order sides and have dressing of your own, you only get 1 package whether you order half a pound or 2 pounds.

I have dabbled with great wings from this previously fine establishment, but their customer service is BULLCRAP!!! I ordered my wings and upon delivery, we realized that the order was incorrect, an honest mistake right? I called back to see if they would help me with my situation and correct it. The manager promptly hung up on me after telling me he would call me back and he never did. I called him back a half hour later and he told me that despite being «busy,» he would try to correct my order. An hour later, I sit here wingless, still having not received my correct wings. For a local restaurant that I have heard good things about, they should be EMBARRASSED by their lack of customer service. It is garbage and I will not use this restaurant again.

This place came highly recommended to me, so maybe I had my hopes up, but after trying it I think this place is just okay. You certainly get a lot of food for your money but it’s not the best quality. Considering how many other great wing places there are in town I wouldn’t settle for Wings Over Charlottesville.

I always like Wings Over. I think more than anything the fact that their food is pretty damned consistent wins me over when I’m in need of a wing fix.
They deliver really quickly. Every time I call (I make it sound like I eat there a lot more than I actually do) they tell me it’ll be ready in 30 – 45 minutes and it’s at my door in less than 15. The drive from my house to Wings Over is at least 5 minutes, so I wonder sometimes.
I prefer pick-​up to delivery though. The breading on the wings is always a little crispier and fresher when you go pick it up. It somehow gets a little sogged down when it gets delivered, but I guess you have to pay some price for being lazy.
And the prices are reasonable.
The guys answering the phones seem a little brusque at times, but they’re nice. One time I was being an idiot and ordered for delivery 2 minutes before they closed. The driver came, delivered my food, and forgot my 2 cans of soda. I called back (20 minutes after they were supposed to be closed) and I told the guy that my driver forgot the soda and it wasn’t a big deal. He said he’d credit it to my account. 10 minutes later I get a knock at the door and my delivery driver’s back with four cans of soda.
I don’t get any of the sides at Wings Over. Fries and onion rings always end up too soggy, so I stick with what they specialize in.
I usually order half Jamaican Jerk, half something else (changes every time), all flats (I like wings better than drums) and extra crispy. Money every time.
