It had free delivery but was under salted. I ordered soup, 2 types of dumplings, and an egg roll. The egg roll was cooked in old oil, the soup tasted like dirty water, and one of the dumplings while really tasty the other was comprised of dough that wasn’t cooked all the way through.

This is what you would expect from Chinese delivery. They always deliver under the time they quote me and the delivery drivers are good about special instructions like not ringing the doorbell. They are friendly and the food is what you expect from Chinese take-out. It’s not gourmet, but it’s filling and the price is right.

Yuan Ho is pretty close to where I live, and I was craving Chinese one night and decided to give it a second try. We had gotten take out from there one other time before, and I didn’t remember liking it but figured, how bad can it be? Both of the entrees we tried were subpar at best. The egg rolls were not even good either. The most edible thing in our order was the hot and sour soup. Even though Yuan Ho is on the way home and super close, next time I will go out of my way to get Chinese somewhere else.

I don’t care what anyone says but Yuan Ho is pretty much one of my favorite things ever. It’s hot, greasy Chinese food and I always get hung up on really abruptly, but that kind of thing grows on you(kind of). The lunch/dinner specials are a good deal, I like asking for either hot and sour soup or egg drop soup instead of an egg roll. My absolute favorite entrée here is the sesame chicken, but that also probably contributed a lot to some extra padding around my face. If you’re going to eat Yuan Ho you might as well get what you actually want, right? I’d stay away from most of the dishes with shrimp, probably because they won’t give very many and also kind of for safety.

I don’t expect gourmet meals when I order Chinese delivery, but this was not good at all. I often order delivery when I am in a hotel traveling for work, so I went with the highest reviewed Chinese restaurant on Unilocal that delivered to the Hampton Inn on India Rd. First off, they forgot my drink(which I paid for) and a soup spoon, so I had to drink my soup… The General Tso’s chicken was small bits of hard, chewy bites and my jaw was getting tired of chewing after a few pieces. The fried rice was just brown rice. Seriously, nothing other than brown rice. The egg roll was supposed to be a pork egg roll, but it looked like nothing other than cabbage inside. I have to say that this was the worst Chinese food I have ever had and that is not an exaggeration. Don’t waste your money or time.

Great customer service. Jiabing provides a great personal touch and is very inviting. The food is great, best general tso’s I’ve head. Crunchy and tasty. Great traditional Chinese menu too! I cater from them and they offer reasonable prices for large trays.

Pretty much the only choice in cheap Chinese food on JPA. I only eat here because it’s close by and within walking distance. Surprisingly enough, I would say it’s marginally better than other Chinese food places purely because of their prices. Standard chinese food menu, nothing really too unique or out of the ordinary. The lunch and dinner specials include some dishes that can come with an egg roll and a drink for cheap. Yuan Ho is kind of like the community pool, everyone’s swimming in it, but nobody wants to be. It’s kind of just there, but it’s convenient and cheap, and for Cville Chinese food, those are the only standards you would need.

I ordered a dinner combo with General Tso’s and it came with an eggroll(pretty good), a soda, rice. The chicken was a bit watered down but not too bad. Also ordered crab rangoon dumplings but they weren’t really crispy. But the biggest problem with ordering take out from this place was the wait. I waited 2 hours for a little dinner combo and they did not offer me a refund. I think I could have had better service elsewhere.

The lo mein is made of spaghetti noodled and god-awful. The fried rice is probably made of days old leftover rice, has 0 taste, and is even more awful than the lo mein. The only good thing would be the General Tso’s, nothing else.

For the second time, they delivered me the wrong dishes that I didn’t ordered. When I called them back, a middle-aged female blamed me that it was me who didn’t say clearly. I never know any restaurant who made mistakes but shifted the blame on the customers. And their delivery time is unexpected long. One of my worst experiences was they took 2 hrs to delivery to the location which is less than 0.5 miles away from their place. Moreover, the meat and fish are not fresh. You can taste a weird flavor in any of their non-vegetarian dishes… their dishes are below the average level of the Chinese restaurants in the town. The only reason that I can find why they are still operating is their good location, since it is the only Chinese restaurant on the JPA… But either for your health or good mood, it is very wise not to choose this place.

Third time. For some reason, delivery time was doubled — 40 minutes instead of 20. What happened to fast delivery? I tried the triple delight dinner combo and ordered crab rangoon to meet the $ 10 minimum(though that was a bit over $ 10 — oh well). For some reason, the triple delight was surprisingly bland. Bland… for Chinese take-out? I was expecting salty, msg-laced food but instead I get something that’s almost watered down. Needless to say, it didn’t taste very good. I supposed it’s healthier than the usual, but still. Didn’t exactly satisfy my craving. The crab rangoons were fine. After this experience, not sure I’d come back.

I was really craving chinese one night, so a friend and I decided to order from this place. I heard that the eggplant tofu dish was amazing and I LOVEEGGPLANT&TOFU so I was really excited to try it out. They told us it would take about 20 mins to deliver which was fair considering I live not too far from JPA. 30 mins later, the food hasn’t arrived. So we waited and finally the food got to us about 45 mins after we ordered. Because we figured that they were probably busy on a Saturday night, we did not fuss to much about it. Now the food, we ordered a couple things. — Hot & Sour Soup: MEH at best. There were some gelatinous blobs in our soup which is not very appetizing. — Beef Chow Ho Fen: Had absolutely no flavor. It was plain noodles with seasoned beef, the noodles were clumped together and dried out. — Egg Roll: It was average, typical egg rolls you get from a chinese take out place. — Eggplant and Tofu: What was everyone raving about? It was so blend that I had to add my own seasoning to it. Only good thing about the food? It was hot and at least edible. So overall I have to say I was disappointed with the food and delivery. Unless I’m absolutely starving or dying from the crave of chinese food, I doubt I’ll be ordering from here.

Very standard Chinese take out food. I’ve had it a few times, and though it was once the closest to me, I frequently chose others instead. My latest samplings are as follows: Spring Roll: B+ Beef & Broccoli: B+ Egg Roll: C– Fried Rice: B

Yuan Ho has never taken more than 30 min to deliver my food after I order. The website makes it super easy to order too. And then the food is the best Chinese I have found in Charlottesville. If you live in dorms and don’t have utensils or you just need utensils, remember to ask for them because they won’t provide them if you don’t ask.

I don’t understand how there are so many Chinese food places in such a small town. The service is good, but rude, and thus very old-school Chinese. These people mean business; give you order, get your food, and get the hell out. This was as classic when I was a first year in college, and it was part of a almost monthly routine when I was in graduate school.

OVERALL4⁄5 If you live on JPA, this is your Chinese takeout/delivery option of choice. They also have a website which makes place your order a snap. FOOD4⁄5 The food is deceptively good here, especially for a takeout place. This place continues to amaze me. I’ve had most of the chicken dishes on the menu and the hot and sour soup and I like it a lot. PRICE4⁄5 Priced very cheap even with the other cheap Chinese takeout around. SERVICE4⁄5 Never had an issue with service. Very quick and efficient. Great website! AMBIENCE2⁄5 This is a takeout joint. They have tables, but I wouldn’t go here to eat. DELIVERY4⁄5 I’ve never had a problem or experienced a long wait with the delivery, although I live down the street, so that may be a different story.

Best crag rangoon you’ll ever eat. It’s baked, not fried(like that really matters when you’re chowing down on greasy Chinese). Otherwise, Yuan Ho is as good a Chinese takeout place as you’ll find in these parts, I’m afraid. Decent fried rice. I prefer the spicy eggplant and tofu. If I’m feeling healthy, I’ll drain the grease in a colander before enjoying. You should too.

This was my go to spot for Chinese carryout, however the past few times I have ordered from them it has taken over an hour for the food and the food has been cold when its gotten here. Tonight I’ve waited for over two hours for the food… it’s still not here. Not sure if the management changed or what but the quality in the food and service has drastically decreased.

For an authentic Chinese food deprived college student, Yuan Ho definitely satisfies my cravings. I’ve tried: the Hong Kong Beef, Beef Chow Mi Fun(Rice Vermicelli noodles), Veggie Stir-fry Udon, Hot & Sour soup, & Veggie soup. THe beef is always tender and perfectly cooked. Although sometimes the dishes can be on the salty side and a little drowned in sauce, it’s not a huge problem. I’ve also heard that one of the Eggplant dishes is really good. All of the dishes come in fairly large portions, even the lunch & dinner specials. There’s bound to be leftovers, especially since lunch & dinner combos come with an egg roll or soup and a soda! Although some of the dishes are on the pricey side, it’s definitely worth the 30 – 45 minute delivery time & the money. I would suggest finding a few friends to split the order with or order 2 dishes for lunch & save some for the next meal!
