I moved to Chatham from out of state and was looking for good Chinese. After trying two other restaurants, I came across Bean Curd, and it is a keeper! Great fried rice and lo mein, very good appetizers, and outstanding my shu pork. Only the wonton soup was not up to par. I haven’t dined in– only takeout — so I don’t know about the service. But the food is great!

Convenient location if you are coming from the Chatham train station. Food was alright, not amazing. Service was great though! Pro Tip: BYOB

The chicken and broccoli was delicious! We also had wonton soup which was a great start to the meal. The environment is lovely, I really enjoyed the way the place was decorated, and the staff was friendly. Will definitely be back! They even gave me extra rice when I took my leftovers home. :)

This has been my favorite Chinese restaurant for 20 years. I don’t live in the area anymore, but I try to eat here as often as I can when I visit. It never disappoints. I’ve ordered their specials, their apps; I’ve even ordered off the menu. I’ve never had a bad meal at Bean Curd.

For the life of me, I can’t understand why this place has been in Chatham as long as it has. Just stopped in last week and the food is(still) entirely unremarkable. I got crispy chicken(and alas, no option for dark meat is offered) with sesame sauce, and I’m guessing the chicken was frozen and popped right into the fryer. That’s not a total deal breaker, but the sauce was equally bad — bland and overly sweet. My sister got the General Tso’s and both were basically just sugar syrups. The scallion pancakes were unremarkable. Believe it or not, the hole-in-the-wall take-out place down the street, Garden Rice, is superior in pretty much every way.

It was decent Chinese. I got their most popular dish the chicken with peanuts and hot peppers and the peppers were burned a bit. The flavor was decent but I expected better. I may be back.

This place has been consistently good since forever. Whenever I am feeling nostalgic for that good old fashioned Americanized Szechuan food that adventurous suburbanites would go to Chinatown for back in the 80’s, this is my goto place. The food is never greasy and I always feel good after I eat it(unlike other joints that I occasionally try). My personal favorites are the orange flavored beef, moo shoo pork, shrimp Szechuan style, and hot & sour soup but I have enjoyed everything else I have tried as well. As far as I am concerned, this place is an institution and I always stop by when I am in the area to pick up takeout whether I am hungry or not because it’s always great the next day.

Second trip to Bean Curd was even better than the first. Had an excellent seafood dish and the dumplings are to die for.

Solid Chinese establishment in the downtown of Chatham. Shabby interior. Well priced and tasty lunch options. However services mediocre and the quality of the food is just average. However if you are in Chadham and are looking for a decent option bean curd is not a bad place to go. I will be back

Set in a small space with large windows, this pretty restaurant is a very relaxing spot to sit and enjoy lunch. There are trees in front of the windows lit up with lights and each table has its own separate space. The food is well prepared. For example, I ordered the General Tso’s chicken and it was big chunks of white meat chicken with a coating, not slathered in sauce like at most places. The fried rice to the side was not greasy, but light. For $ 7.50 I got a complete meal. Starting off with Hot and Sour soup(mushroom, bean curd), next arrived my entrée, which was General Tso’s chicken with fried rice. Both were nice portions, not small. The drinks we had came with the meal, being ice water and a pot of jasmine tea. Refills were available. In other words, both the pot of tea and the water were refilled. The service was very attentive and even supplied us with an extra bowl of those crunchy noodles which came with hot mustard and duck sauce. Very relaxing place to go for a lunch.

Unfortunately, this place is just a more«upscale» version of Chinese-American food. I was hoping for more authentic Chinese fare but once I saw general tso’s chicken as a house specialty… my expectations were lowered. The service was very poor as it took 20 min for us to order… and that was after asking twice to order. My wife and got the house chicken special and shredded beef in spicy sauce. The food was very bland and had no spice despite telling them to make it extra spicy. The only good part of the meal were the steamed meat dumplings and complementary tea. Needless to say… we will never frequent this place again. This is a place if u r into mediocre Chinese-American food and have no interest in authentic flavors.

Today I had come to bean curd for the first time, was pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and did not rush us at all. I decided to try bean curd because I have passed it many times, and the interesting décor caught my attention. It was definitely worth trying, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new place to try some Asian cuisine.

Let me just tell you. I was actually upset when I moved away from this place. Great chinese food, better service, and reasonable prices. They are super fast and our waiter was always happy to see us… and tease me ever so slightly for never changing my order. This place was a perfect lazy friday evening dinner.

It is salty. I went here once years ago and found the food nearly inedible. Clearly some people like it, as it has been around for decades.

Better than average Chinese place .I’d been here years ago and had liked it. Good cold sesame noodles, better than average chow fun and some good pork and chicken dishes. The service was good. The place is small and a little cramped. Went early on a Sunday night and it was pleasantly uncrowded.

I’ve been frequenting bean curd since I was about 4 years old. Their food is fresh and delicious and the owners(it’s family-owned) are super nice and hospitable. Prices are extremely reasonable for such great Chinese food.

I’ve been coming here since I was 7 years old. It’s definitely the best chinese within 10 minutes of us. I’ve had it all here and enjoyed everything! I wish the dumplings were a bit crispier. It’s not pricey and they are fast. I do wish they delivered.

My absolute favorite Chinese place. Their chicken and black sauce is without equal in my book. Friendly place, with free ‘chips’ and tea is a nice touch. Whenever I’m in the area, I try to swing by, give it a try!
