We had a delightful late lunch there. Very good food in a very nice setting. We had oysters in a half shell, steamed mussels, lobster rolls, and a scallop sandwich. Everything was delicious.

Amazing! The arrabiata was unreal! I am a seafood gal but the scallops were unbelievably tender and delicious. Going back every time I am in town!

We started with a half dozen oysters on the half shell and«Devils on Horseback.» The«Devils» we’re jumbo local sea scallops wrapped in bacon lined up on a long toast point drenched in garlic butter. YUM!!! Our waitress was a perfect fit for the place. She was helpful, attentive and clearly a local of many years. For entrees we shared the Cod on Cod which was a bit disappointment.(The cod on top was delicious, but the bottom piece was a bit mushy and salty, and the size of the half lobster was barely 2 bites.) We also had the Seafood Arrabiatta. The cavatelli pasta tastes fresh and was cooked perfectly. The sauce was just the right amount of spice and the offering of scallops, shrimp and clams was appropriate for the price of $ 28.95.(I loved this dish but my parents only thought it was okay.) For dessert we tried the banana sticky toffee pudding. Without the ice cream, I wouldn’t have eaten it. With the vanilla, it was okay. The texture was just dry and disappointing. All the same, it was an enjoyable dinner.

We came here for lunch and dinner this week while we were in Chatham. The food was amazing at both meals. The butternut squash soup was particularly incredible.

Stopped in for an impromptu lunch while traveling down the Cape. Was originally looking for another place that happened to be closed. Serendipity stepped in and sent us to the Impudent Oyster. It was a Monday afternoon around 2pm, so i was little afraid it wouldn’t be as good as if it was a more popular time. The food was really good. We got a wrap sandwich and a salad from the specials list. Both were nice and fresh, well-prepared and flavorful. Portions are very generous. Would definitely go again!,

Impudent Oyster has been in business close to 40 years. The restaurant does appear to have been a church at one point or another but was not. There’s beautiful stained glass and pews throughout the small dining room which enhance the restaurant’s ambiance. It is very well lit during the day with natural lighting through the windows and the lights are dimmed at night which gives the restaurant a very cozy and comfortable feel. There is a U-shaped wooden bar that serves a full menu and is a good option for last minute people without reservations. It does fill up quite early during season, so I’d recommend going before 6(dinner starts at 5). They do start a wait list at the bar. Drinks are great at a very reasonable price. The food menu is large with an additional full page of specials so bring your reading glasses. Entrees will run you about 30 bucks per plate. I’ve never had a bad meal at this joint. Steaks on the menu are phenomenal with an extensive list of seafood options. It isn’t a kid friendly restaurant(no high chairs) so find a sitter for a night or day out to enjoy this one.

The halibut dish(a special) was one of the best pieces of fish I’ve ever had. Incredible food and our server was amazing. Highly recommend.

A delightful dinner at one of Cape Cod’s finest seafood restaurants! After getting multiple recommendations for this place, I decided to take the plunge and give it a shot. I stopped by for dinner on a weekend evening and had a pretty good meal. After we arrived, we were quickly seated and our drink orders were taken. The restaurant is small and looks quite aged, it’s probably been in Chatham for some time now. The décor is definitely older, so don’t expect a new-aged restaurant. The menu is primarily seafood and has a pretty good selection… it’s pretty expensive though so be aware of the $ 30 price tag for a plate of food!!! We ordered the calamari to start, the cod, and the salmon. Before our appetizer and entrees came out, our server brought us some pretty good tasting(free) bread. The service was good and our server was friendly. After a short wait our food came out and it was pretty good. The calamari was cooked and prepared well, and tasted very fresh. The cod/salmon were delicious and prepared well too. Now… it was good, but I wasn’t blown away by it. The restaurant isn’t bad by any means, but I guess the rave reviews I received prior to going left me waiting just a tad more. Either way, the restaurant was good and I would come back… maybe not often because of the price tag though!!!

I have to give the lunch time lobster roll a full five stars. So good. The accompanying home made potato chips were just OK; I would try another side the next time. He was not happy with a grilled blue cheese sandwich since he felt it was way too salty(his creamy tomato basil soup was salty too, though delicious at first taste.)

Really enjoyed the food and service at the Impudent Oyster. Started with the ‘country’ caprese and wow, that was quite a fantastic starter. The fried green tomatoes in it were great. The fish I had(Sole) was also great — with a very rich sauce. Just right. If I get back to Chatham I’ll visit the Impudent Oyster again.

Whenever I am in Cape Cod I always have to treat myself to a night at the Impudent Oyster! Everything is always fresh and flavorful from beginning to end. I love sitting at the back bar and starting with the Portuguese mussels. The filet, salmon, and lobster dishes are always my favorite! See you next summer!

This was absolutely wonderful. After shopping at my favorite store, Sundance, we went here for dinner for the first time having heard that it was very good. I ordered the paella stuffed lobster. It was SO good. My friend ordered the cod dish which was excellent, as well. We sat at the cozy bar. For a Tuesday night in September it was quite busy so I would recommend reservations if you go. Worth the drive for us from Mashpee.

Super cute and cozy place on a side street in bustling Chatham. The rustic interior is comfortable for a cool fall feeling day. We scored two seats in the very tight bar. The bartender was very helpful and quite friendly. I had perhaps the best fish tacos on Cape. They were deconstructed with a lovely house made pico de gallo and guac. The cornmeal dusting was a bit salty but the fish, fresh and light. Perfect lunch. I had a taste of the house made Bloody and nearly swooned. GOODSTUFF.

My cousin recommended this place as her favorite stop in Chatham. I would have to agree! The food was phenomenal! Started with mussels as an appetizer, even though they were listed as an entrée. The broth was so savory that I had to eat it like soup after the mussels were done. There were so many mussels, and they were big, and very tasty. The fisherman’s stew was the main entrée. This was the most amazing seafood stew I have ever had! Lots of mussels, clams, several different kinds of fish, some rice noodles and lobster. There was so much seafood! Most places will load up a soup with noodles, in this case, I kept digging around for noodles and finding more seafood instead!(That’s not a complaint!!). Almost stopped on our way out of the cape for a second round. Absolutely amazing! gluten free friendly

The food here is great. This has been a staple for us whenever we head out to the Cape. But, the service we received last time was really, really poor. The waitress was just off and rude. I was holding our daughter and she plopped down a dish right in front of her letting us know that it was super hot. Almost like she was being passive aggressive. I’m not sure what it was. My mother-in-law joined us, and she’s Indian. She dresses in traditional Indian garb. I hate, hate saying this but perhaps there was a bit of racism involved. But the food is top notched and they have a very inventive menu.

Found this gem on a weekend get away from Los Angeles– this place was an absolute delight… The food was amazing and service was great. The only reason this place does not get 5 stars is that they don’t have high chairs. Chatham is a very touristy destination with a lot of families that frequent it… We came with my 11month old and had to switch off holding our daughter while we ate… The food was so good that this action was tolerable… Loved it!!!

I’d give 1 star if the food was not so delicious, but the service killed it for me. The food was phenomenal– obviously the back end of this establishment is being run correctly. It’s too bad the same cannot be said about the front lines. Came in for a 7:30 reservation with my husband and baby– right away was told our table wasn’t ready yet. HALF an hour goes by before we are finally seated. Again, what’s the point of reservations if they can’t be honored on time? The worst part was our waitress. She Constantly ignored us because she was too focused on the owner’s table– which happened to be next to us. Then our egg rolls came– my husband bit down on PLASTIC that happened to be inside of one! Our waitress had the most incredible response to this of all time: «It happens.» WHAT?! Oh my god, we had ordered a salad too. That didn’t come until 45 minutes later. When we asked why it took that long for cut up cheese and tomatoes, she replied«I don’t know.» Just admit you forgot to put the order in! We ended up sending it back and finally got the entrees– brought out by someone else who was probably more capable than our waitress. It just really set me off that because of all these ridiculous delays, we didn’t get out of there until after 930. If I wanted to eat my main entrée at 9pm I would have made reservations for 830. Impudent should really do something about servers like the woman we had. This was not a fine dining experience by any means.

The lunch there this week was top notch, a beautifully seasoned cod with a delicate rice cake over a refreshing gazpacho. My friend had mussels. She added a side of fries, not needed. I have been there for wonderful dinners, but have always felt their seafood dinners delicious but a bit pricy. Really found the lunch menu reasonably priced for such nice servings. We enjoy sitting at the bar.
