I was refused service due to some food allergies which has NEVER happened to me. But, it didn’t look like I miss anything. The rest of my family’s meals were mediocre at best.

Above and beyond kid-friendly! My two daughters wanted to check out the outdoor patio and found a beautiful pond with fish. The owner happen to be outside and came over with a huge smile and welcomed us. She gave a handful of fish food to them and that set the tone for the evening. The owner(I didn’t catch her name) walked with us to our table and gave my eldest child a mini piano with a bear that played music. That was a hit! We asked her some of her favorites on the menu and we ordered the onion rings, crab cake, local cod, steak tips and scallops and shrimp. Everything was delicious and fast. The kids enjoyed their spaghetti and meatballs and sorbet for dessert. The owner came by twice and checked on us, which is always a nice touch. Our waitress was great and very accommodating also! To top off the evening the owner gave our oldest a little art project to play with while we were waiting to pay our check! When you are in Chatham and looking for a very kid-friendly restaurant please stop in!

We stopped in for an early dinner on a Friday evening. The restaurant Is very charming from the outside and warm on the inside. Each of the tables in the restaurant have a very unique design made by the owner. We began with a large house salad and a small house salad for the table and chose the raspberry vinegarette dressing. A good start. Our table ordered the broiled scallops, the lobster roll with French fries, and the cod with panko breadcrumbs. The fish dishes came with veggies and a side of rice. The cod was bland and had zero taste. The other dishes were fine. Our biggest complaint was the very small portions. For the prices we paid, it was not acceptable. This was our last meal on the Cape before we left and it was also our most expensive. We had seafood at other restaurants in the area and paid slightly less and received much more generous portions. All the food was fresh. The service was very friendly and warm and our waitress kept on apologizing for a table of three out of control toddlers seated near us. If your kids can’t behave, don’t bring them to a nice restaurant so they can disturb everyone. Go somewhere more casual and light. I used to. Overall, a nice charming restaurant but just not generous with their portions for the price.

Although we didn’t have reservations on a Friday evening in August, the staff was accommodating to seat the four of us(including a high-chair) without a wait. Longshore is charming with a touch of a «date night» feel yet down-to-earth to serve our 3 year old and 18-month old. I recommend the Broiled scallops which were fresh and tender. My wife’s scallop and shrimp dish, though, wasn’t as great. The scallops were overcooked. My daughter’s pasta dish was pricey($ 11) but she loved it. The host and servers seemed a little«green» as they couldn’t quote a wait time or tell me what kind of bourbon they served. That said, we escaped with a $ 100 tab and an enjoyable first meal on the Cape.

We had a really good dinner here, after a beautiful day at Lighthouse Beach. The seared tuna sushi-style appetizer was excellent, and the herb-encrusted cod main course was also very good. For our situation, still in shorts and polo shirts after a day at the beach, this restaurant deserved a perfect 5 rating: very good to excellent food, terrific service, a pleasant, quiet, relaxed atmosphere, and reasonable prices. For a dressy occasion, I’m sure that there must be restaurants in the region with more exciting cuisine and much higher prices that would get the 5-star maximum rating in absolute terms.

We visit Chatham during Christmas Stroll Weekend. After spending all day shopping, we are hungry! One night we did some research on nearby bar and grill type restaurants and decided to try the Longshore. The first time I went, I ordered the Cheddar Cheese Burger with fries and my boyfriend ordered a BBQ Bacon Burger. We also ordered Honey BBQ Wings as an appetizer. Everything was excellent! Our burgers were cooked exactly as ordered(medium rare) and super juicy. The wings had a generous amount of sauce on them and were also very juicy and delicious. This past December, we visited again and this time I ordered steak tips and rice and my boyfriend ordered the ruben w/fries. Once again, everything was excellent. Steak tips were cooked perfectly and the ruben was really tasty. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier! Love this place and will definitely be back!

Staying in Chatham this weekend we visited the Longshore. Entered to an empty hostess desk and stranded waiting until a local couple walked in and went right into the bar and was greeted by a lady whom I assume was the owner. I looked at her and got a «come on in» Where would you like to sit. We wanted a quiet romantic dinner but we were stuck having dinner in the bar side as the place was so empty the dining room was closed. Ok it is October so we decided to stay. We ordered order a couple drinks($ 7.00 each and nothing special) and looked over the menu. I do not eat seafood so I ordered the ribs on special. My fiancée orders the fried clams. The waitress was very nice and friendly but the locals sitting at the bar watching old reruns of wonder women and critiquing Linda Carter’s acting were not. Loud and drunk. Our food came and I could immediately tell The ribs were not what I expected. Gray in color with some Bbque sauce splashed across it. French fries for a side. My finances clams were ok with some more fishy than others. She upgraded to the onion rings and they were the best thing to hit the table. I tried to cut through to try the ribs but even a sharp steak knife could not break through, I ate a half of one rib and called it quits. When the waitress came bye and asked if I wanted to wrap them I quickly said no thanks, they were tough and un-eatable. She said she would talk to the manager(which I imagine happens a lot) and she took half off this $ 22 dollar plate of crap. Needless to say I will never return to the place and do not see it making it in Chatham with so many good places to eat.

The onion rings were some of the best I’ve ever had! The other food was delicious too, especially the longshore burger. The servers were very friendly and the owner came to every table. The outside setting was very comfortable and had nice plants and a pond with fish for kids. I would definitely go back again!

Very disappointed! Waitress and hostess were very nice, but kitchen totally left them down. Ordered garlic bread as an appetizer and it took 40 minutes to come out, seriously, garlic bread! The restaurant is not that busy, although they say it is. Should not be this overwhelmed at this point in the season. Still waiting on the main course.

Stopped in for dinner on a whim. Turned out to be a great choice. Nice place, friendly waitstaff, and good food. Food is fairly traditional Cape food. Very well done but not particularly avant-garde. The onion rings were excellent as was the Stelwagen fish sandwich. Service was very good. Try to sit on the patio if you can. We had a perfect night for it.

This was kind of a disappointment. Though the service was friendly and warm, I found the food to be subpar. My Panko crusted cod was bland and sangria was bitter. My friend’s crab cakes tasted like eye make up for some odd reason. Not worth the positive reviews and acclaim others have given this place.

This place is great. We ordered 7 dozen oysters($ 1 each) and every single one was fresh. Great atmosphere and not bad selection of beer on tap. My wife had the lobster roll and wasn’t too impressed. Oh well, I loved the oysters. :-)

Thank heavens we decided to see if Longshore had gotten its act together. Boy, am I glad we did! The ownership has changed and has returned to its origins. I’m sure because it was a quiet night, we walked right in and were offered patio dining or inside. We chose inside and were seated in the bar area. A little noisy, but this is the Cape during 4th of July week. Our waitress came right away, introduced herself and took our drink orders. Reading the menu was delightful. All looked interesting. We chose cups of clam chowder, an order of clam bellies, a scallop plate and plain pasta(child’s menu). The clam chowder was excellent. It had a bit of dill but was a true chowder. Both my husband and I found more than just bits of clams, but satisfying chunks. My scallops were wonderful, perfectly cooked with a light batter. They were truly sweet. My husband didn’t say much about his clams because his mouth was always full! Neither of us are fans of French fries and were given a choice of baked potat or onion rings or a rice pilaf. The service was great. The waitress checked up on us throughout the meal and the manager came over twice. All in all, a happy experience. We’ll be back often during our time on the Cape. Good job on turning a restaurant around.

We were here on a Saturday night recently. Everyone had burgers. The burgers were properly prepared with a large quantity of well seasoned fries. The service was outstanding. The prices are a bit high due to the summer season but pretty standard for Chatham this time of year.

I wish there were a 4.5 because the interior of the restaurant is very«remodeled Ihop» in its feel. I didn’t want to downgrade, however, because the food and service were excellent. We ordered the sole florentine, which was delicious and we took half home because the portion was huge. We also had the seared tuna w/sesame app, which was a very nice size and perfectly cooked. The cod with panko parmesan topping was delicious as were the fried scallops, which were lightly breaded with a very tasty coating. Really, all the dinners were great and we spent less than $ 100 for four of us. The weakest link in the meal was the dinner rolls, which were dry and had the texture of bread that had been microwaved and then sat around. Other than that it was a great meal!

We’ve gone back. Short description: solid, not real fancy, but some fine surprises as you try the menu. I would say of with the Steamers, the fish and chips are good, and the bride loved the Mediteranean Pizza(basically a naked, no sauce, lots of feta). Like others, our first experience was when Delmar was overflowing, and this won because of geography. In our 2 experiences, very attentive waitstaff, and no kids, and we’ve watched the Bruins on the bar side. I do give it that solid 3.5 to 4 stars, The bride would say 4 stars.

I was looking forward to trying the place out as I knew it as the old Sea in the Rough from when I was a kid. It has easy access to downtown, good parking and nicely decorated. Clean place. We were waited on quickly and had great service. The layout of the tables is a bit different in that the staff can move them around to configure them to the needs of the party. It seems like there should be more seating inside for the size of the restaurant, but this gives it an uncrowded feel. We were there on the Saturday night of Memorial Day Weekend and it wasn’t too crowded at all. it was a bit louder than you’d find at other restaurants like the Squire, but not a detraction. People in my party ordered seafood and really enjoyed it. I ordered the sausage pizza and it was pretty awful. Had to stop halfway through. I should have read the menu more closely, so my fault. The pizza is made with Dijon mustard, not tomato sauce. My wife tried it and had a similar reaction. It probably deserves more stars but I’m more likely to try another restaurant rather than go back. Not a bad choice by any means though.

Had dinner with the parents here tonight after reading an article that said it was recently opened by a former long-time employee of my beloved Arnold’s. Got there about 7pm and the place was full of screaming kids and a loud party of adults. Overall it was not that crowded(which was odd since every other restaurant was jammed) but they were still making people wait 15 minutes or so for some reason. The bar is on the left side of he restaurant and looked nice but was completely empty when we got there. We were seated on the other side in the dining room area, which is large, wide open and very noisy. A couple other parties asked to be moved to the bar side of the restaurant which was a smart move and we should have done the same. But the unruly kids and annoying adults ended up leaving so it wasn’t that bad. But with no carpet, no drapes and a wide open room it’s always going to be noisy so if it’s an intimate diner you’re looking for this probably isn’t the place. After we literally yelled our order to the waitress and he food started to arrive things got better. The chowder was given a thumbs up by everyone who had it. We ordered scallops, fish tacos, steak, and fried shrimp and everyone was pretty happy and plates were all empty in the end. Nothing to blow you away but decent. I upgraded to the onion rings for two bucks more and it was a good investment and glad I did it. Maybe not quite as good as Arnold’s or Liams but the same style and pretty good. Prices are typical of what you would expect from Cape restaurants So no bargains but not unreasonable either. My shrimp platter included a good number of shrimp and portion size in general was decent. Overall I just don’t know that this place really knows what it is. It’s not really a clam-shack type place(it aspires to be a step up from that) but the food is what you would expect from that type of place(i.e. lots of fried fish). It’s kid-friendly but if you don’t have kids maybe try to sit on the bar-side. I didn’t actually see a physical raw bar but maybe I missed it and they had raw clams & oysters on the menu. Not sure what the long-term prospects of this place are. Chatham has some pretty good places and the competition is tough. The place wasn’t that crowded on a night when every other place was and the line at Arnold’s stretched practically to Wellfleet.
