I have been in there several times. I always get bread for my folks and the giant cinnamon rolls for my teen girls. The service is excellent. The food is great. Took my mom in for a quiche and a cup of coffee. She is now hooked.

Great breakfast and great coffee, a definite stop if you are in town. Friendly staff and don’t forget to take some home with you. When friends knew we were here we had to take orders for home.

Niedlov’s has always made the best bread in Chattanooga. I’ve been a regular over the past decade, and they’ve crafted some amazing in-store treats and a fantastic lunch menu during that time. One of the culinary gems of our city. The Ham & Cheese Croissant is my favorite non-bread item.

Pumpkin spice latte was good. Husband thought coffee was super strong. Very quiet place to sit and relax.

It has been a few years since I had been to neidloves and thought I’d give it another try. The Main Street area is really in an upswing but unfortunately, neidloves has not clued in. while they are experts at baking bread, running a restaurant is not their best asset. And health department, could you motivate them to clean the over head duct work?

Bread, salads, sandwiches, cold brew coffee were all great here! Had the John’s Green Thumb(two thumbs up!), veggie salad w delicious dressing, and special strawberry and goat cheese salad. Youngest gnawed happily on a french style baguette. Lovely old building too!

Stopped in to pick up a pastry for breakfast. There wasn’t a big crowd so I was able to order right away. The selection was decent but not huge, a few muffins, bagels, cookies, etc. Service was fine, nothing spectacular, somewhat pleasant and efficient.

My wife and I stopped in for breakfast on Memorial Day because many of the streets downtown were blocked off due to the triathlon. Turns out this was a good call. This bakery serves fresh high quality breads and coffee. I had the turkey quiche and a large mocha which really hit the spot. The quiche was flaky and flavorful and my mocha was creamy and rich and a belly full. We sat outside and enjoyed a slow holiday morning. This place is a little off the beaten path and somewhat bohemian but well worth the trip. My wife also enjoyed watching the firemen working out across the street.

MANUP! If you are going to be a cookie be a cookie! Don’t run around acting like a British biscuit without manners. Did you ever notice how British biscuits are just slightly sweet and mostly flavorless? Well that accurately describes my experience with this bakery. I purchased the peanut butter cookies and they were very thick with very little peanut butter and not enough sugar to balance out the flavor. Also, I don’t like tasting the leveling agents in my cookies. My ideal cookie is light and crisp with detectable peanut butter and sugar. This was just the opposite. My husband purchased a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie and for me, it was inedible because the bitter chocolate just overwhelmed the cookie and again the flavors just weren’t balanced. They really need to consider some new cookie recipes.

I love bread; I love their bread. Not only is Neidlov’s store a great spot — go to buy, go to enjoy there, and I highly recommend the roast beef sandwich(on their baguette, which is one of my favorites of their breads) — they also support and are supported by a whole host(loaf?) of local businesses. I think it is really cool the way that downtown Chatt businesses work together. Neidlov’s is a great example because not only do they sell their own products but their products are used by restaurants, coffee places, etc all around. Ex — The Crash Pad offers lodgers an am breakfast with(Greyfriar’s — another local spot) coffee, eggs, and toast — which is three to four versions of Neidlov’s. Ex — Clyde’s on Main uses the baguette I mentioned above and other Neidlov’s yumminess for some of their sandwiches. Ex — I could go on, but I think you get the idea. Nice people, excellent bread(and more) and a big part of the local community. Works for me.

Stopped in(in 2012) before leaving chattanooga for a long road trip. Picked up a french roll, biscuit, brownie, coffee, chai, and two sandwiches. Service was very friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant. 1. Coffee — good flavor but a little weak 2. Brownie — very rich chocolatey flavor, delicious 3. Chai latte — perfect! 4. French roll — not the best ever, but pretty good 5. Biscuit — very tasty 6. Chicken salad sandwich on ciabatta — perfect. 7. Niedlov’s club, no tapenade — perfect.

Niedlov’s is an awesome bakery. Period. Whether you prefer dense and chewy or soft and fluffy, this place will have what you want. It’s not often I get to stop by, but when I do I revel in the yeasty aroma of fresh bread. There is something inherently comforting about that scent. Couple it with the smell of fresh brewed coffee and a hint of sweet from the muffins and you’ll have yourself asking why you spent money at the spa on an aromatherapy session. Niedlov’s bakes one of my favorite artisan loafs — the whole wheat four seed. The farmer’s rye is perfect if you enjoy red meat and mustard between two slices. And I have enjoyed the baguette on more than one occasion. You won’t be sorry to stop in and grab a few bagels either.

We stopped in here for a light breakfast the first day of our honeymoon. The had pretty decent coffee and some flavorful pastries. We really enjoyed the muffin and croissant. All without paying a lot and a friendly staff We will definitely go again.

I was in town and stopped by to get a cinnamon roll and some chai. I didn’t sit down to eat a meal so take my review for what it’s worth. The cinnamon roll was dry and not as soft, moist as I expected, but I got it later in the day so think it was just old. The chai was just OK.

Really sweet service. There was a small line and it wasn’t moving all that fast, so one of the several employees came out from behind the counter to take our order while we were still standing in line. She was patient while we made our choices.(Since it was our first trip, we didn’t know exactly what to get.) We’re normally big cinnamon bun fans, so we tried two of the buns. They were good — light, fluffy, not too sweet, but not in the same(world) class as Merridee’s in Franklin, TN. But I have to say we were both really impressed with Niedlov’s foccacia bread-of-the-month. For a reasonable price(I’m thinking $ 5 – 6) we got a HUGE square of foccacia that literally lasted us about a week at home. Wrapped up in plastic on the kitchen table, it kept nicely as we sliced off bits and pieces, microwaved them and then ate them olive oil, salt and pepper. Delish. And the pecan-and-cranberry muffin was also quite tasty and kept well for a couple of days. Chattanooga is lucky to have a bakery this good. The old building has been beautifully rehabbed. The locals chatting and working seemed happy. The bathrooms were clean and spacious — and it’s only about a 3-minute detour off the highway if you’re passing through Chattanooga. Parking was easy in the bakery’s own private lot. Why bother with the typical chains at highway exits? Support a fine local business and eat really well in the process. I know that will be our plan next time we pass through Chattanooga. PS — Getting back on the highway was a little tricky, even with GPS. We drive a hybrid and the on hilly short on-ramp was a little dicey with trucks roaring by. Next time we stop at Niedlov’s I might ask if there’s another way to get back on the highway with less risk to life and limb. PPS — There is a chicken coop in the parking lot! And the birds looked really healthy and happy. LOVE that Niedlov’s is keeping it real with hyperlocal food! :)

it was a strange coincidence i ended up here. okay, okay to be honest, it was because bluegrass grille was closed. i’m glad i did though. it was actually very nice. the coffee was MUCH better than expected since it came out of one of those hand pump deals. their selection of breakfast, if you wanted something other than pastries, is a little sparse. basically, it was two types of quiches from what i could tell. decent though. i had it a piece of bread just to make sure their bread was good. and damn. it was good. shared a muffin as well. it was AMAZING. i totally regret not trying a cinnamon roll because they looked like confectionery clouds of ooey gooey heaven. i tried going back the next day for one of those — and a sugar cookie — BAH … closed. oh well. it’ll be a stop on my list when i’m back in chattanooga again. there are plenty of tables to go around, by the way, so if you’re with a group, you should be totally fine. «we love to knead. we knead to love.» it shows.
