I am just visiting Chattanooga for a couple days with one overnight and stopped into Suck Creek Cycle on my way into town for some ideas for a simple road bike route to take in the evening. I didn’t need any gear and didn’t buy anything, but they still took time and gave me a great bike route out from my downtown hotel… south on Broad, down Tennessee Rd, Burnt Mill Rd. Great quite roads down there with some small rolling hills. I took some little detours and got in about 30 mi with an out and back. They even wrote the directions down for me and pulled it up to show me on gmaps. Thanks for the local advice guys!

The first couple times we went there we got good service but the last time we went we were quoted a price of $ 25 to repair a bent rim and told it would be ready the same day by 2:00pm. Once we arrived to pick it up it had not even been started and the employee was sitting on a stool looking through a catalog… this was 3:50pm. Once the work started it only took about 10 mins so we don’t see why this wasn’t complete and ready when we arrived. When we went to pay the cashier was about to ring up the $ 25 as quoted but(manager or owner, not sure which) said it was $ 34. My Husband paid it and left very frustrated as this was directly after work. When we arrived home and unloaded the bike to test it, the first thing that happened was a spoke(the same one this company replaced less than 30 mins earlier) had snapped in two and broke off. We had to call them, load it back up and drive back across town before they closed just to have it replaced again. All we got was a simple, «sorry about that but it happens man». Not impressed and will not do business with them in the future.

Super friendly, completely honest about what your bike does or doesn’t need and really down to earth. There are a lot of bike shops on the North Shore of Chattanooga, and this is the one that has earned my business.

I took my bike in to have them bleed a brake. First of all, he’s a day later calling me back than he said he would be. Ok not a big deal. I speak with him and he says he will call be back the next day, so now it’s two days later than he said. He finally calls me three days late and proceeds to tell me that he has messed up my brake. I believe he was unsure of how to work on the brand. He said he would replace it with a shimano brake. I did not want him to have to eat the cost so I tell him he can rebuild my old brake and we will call it even(I had already purchased a rebuild kit). You would think I would be top priority — not the case. It is now four days later, I am going to North Carolina and I don’t have my bike. To top it off, he still charged me to bleed the brake. This was just all around bad business. Oh, and when I went in there the second time I think he was about to drink a beer at 12PM. UPDATE: Took the bike out for the first time after the bleed yesterday and the lever went all the way to the handle bar. Brakes are spongy and I lost all braking power randomly. I finally gave up and took it to another shop to bleed them again(out another $ 25). All is good now.

If this shop didn’t have the great service and knowledge I wouldn’t drive up there from Atlanta to give them my business. I’ve been getting all my parts, bikes and service from the owner Mike since 1999 and it’s always a pleasure. The staff can point you toward any kind of ride you’re looking for, easy or challenging, road or mountain or just around downtown.
