We stayed in town and ordered breakfast sandwiches to go, with a side of hash browns. Was so happy to finally get a wonderful breakfast. The English muffins are soft and toasted and buttered perfectly. There was a good portion of egg and the ham was delicious. We loved the hash browns, which were the shredded kind, but clearly hand cut. This was hands down the best breakfast sandwich that I’ve ever had in a lonnnng time. Wow! Service was friendly and welcoming. Do not pass this little café up for breakfast! We will be going back on our drive home!

Great for a hearty breakfast. Disappointment: My English muffin seemed to have been cooked on the griddle along with the rest of the breakfast so it tasted like sausages instead of butter. Redemption: the guy who served us was so friendly I didn’t care.

My family stayed at Dawson’s Lodge and walked across the street to this café. Very friendly I’m guessing owner/waiter came and served us. The food came out fast. I got my veggie hash, hubby got a veggie omelet, pancakes were good and my older kids said the country fried steak was pretty good. We’ll come back here again the next time we’re passing through our stay at Dawson’s!

NOTWORTHTHESTOP! Idk how this place has good reviews at all. Don’t even waste your time coming here. as soon as we walked in the employee told us they were closing in 20 minutes. we stayed anyway. as soon as we sat down he waited to take our order even when we hadn’t even opened up the menu. a few people came in after us and he just kept telling them that they were closing trying to get people to leave. I got a pastrami sandwich which was overloaded with cheese and mayo it just kept falling apart. my husband got an awful looking chili burger which he was throwing up the next day. and my sandwich got me sick as well. only good thing is the bathrooms are clean and nice but the men’s restroom doesn’t have a lock and the women’s restroom only has a chain lock so someone tried to walk in while I was on the toilet and could see me with no problem. Not very private. Just don’t waste your time here.

DONOTEATHERE. I would not recommend this place to anybody. As soon as we walk in the gentleman tells me they close in 20 minutes I still took a seat since they close at 3 and not 2:40. My wife went to the restroom and well she’s gone he asks if we are ready to order.(I haven’t even sat down or looked at the menu btw) And he just stood there looking at us the entire time. Drinks tasted flat. And the food is horrible. I got a chilli burger and my wife got a pastrami sandwich(DONOTORDERTHAT!!) We stopped here for breakfast yesterday — and it was great! The pancakes were fluffy and cake like, the bacon delicious, and the coffee was very good too. The guys running it were very friendly, and it was busy and clean. Very clean restrooms too.

Stopped here for a late breakfast and it was terrific. The owner seated us and took our order. He was a really nice person and pleasant to talk to. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter he had with one of the customers who must have been a regular. They even had prints/lithos mounted on the wall and down stairs that were for sale at reasonable prices. Service was excellent as was the food. I love these small diners as opposed to chain outfits because they have character to them and not some generic institutional feeling.

We had been traveling for some 300 miles since our last stop on the way through Oregon when we came across this gem. Unfortunately for us, we hit this spot right as the owner was closing(4pm). We were badly in need of a quick rest break and some beverage. The owner realized our plight that we were from out-of-state passing through, and promptly told us «Yes I am closing, but I’ll feed you!». We were elated with such kindness to stay open a little bit longer. All we needed was a quick restroom break and some coffee. He gave us the last he had(still fresh) and we were on our way! I do wish we could have eaten here too as the reviews are very good. Perhaps next time. Definitely a very nice place and friendly atmosphere, so we were very grateful :)

I’m writing this review because one of the gentlemen who runs this place is an absolute delight and let me hang out at the counter drinking some coffee – very pleasant to talk to. Definitely stop here if you are passing through!

Café in Crisis. Along the US97 corridor, in Oregon, there’s many small towns with many restaurants and Hotels. I enjoy eating and lodging at many of them as well. However, I’ve noticed a growing trend of inconsistent service with some of the restaurants. One of these being their hours of operation. There’s a few places that I will no longer go to because of this. I would count on stopping at a place, knowing their hours of service and when I get there, they’re closed. It’s like they open when they want nowadays. Now, I can add the«Wheel Café» to my(rimes with bucket) list. Wait a minute. .. not the Wheel Café but rather, KJ’s Café. In fact, I went regularly to the Wheel Café a few years ago and it was excellent. However, this was before I was a Trip Advisor reviewer so I couldn’t contribute to their established, excellent, local reputation. Now, it’s under new ownership and called KJ’s. My issue with this new crew isn’t the hours however. In fact they’re actually pretty consistent. It’s because of the most important issue of all, attitude, and it’s quite different from the old crew. These new guys have all the appearance and mannerisms of people on a work release program. I can imagine them signing in at a halfway house at the end of their work shift. Then, I can have an active imagination. One thing I didn’t imagine was the«upside down,» faded, Tripadvisor sign. What does it mean when a flag is displayed upside down? Veterans know this well, it’s a distress call and this café desperately needs help. In spite of all this, I’m still giving points for the décor which seems to have survived the transition to the new management.

This was a great stop on the way to Crater Lake. The hospitality was excellent! We were warmly greeted and sat and promptly waited on. Our orders were a bit jumbled, but quickly fixed. The food was really good. My husband says the Café Burger was the best he’s ever had. Definitely get dessert. The pies are all homemade. We had raspberry pie Ala mode which was super good. Their cinnamon rolls are also supposed to be amazing, but we didn’t try it. In all, a great roadside stop.

The two gentlemen serving us were very hospitable and the food hit the spot. My husband and I both had the chicken fried steak and my son had the kids pancake and it was very fluffy. Love the changing table in the women’s bathroom. All set up w/a changing pad, baby lotion, a diaper genie and baby wipes if you need.

Stopped here for breakfast before heading to Crater Lake. Nice small shop with great service. The food is good, just your normal breakfast items, I got pancakes, eggs and sausage. The guys working here are super nice and friendly and helped us out with directions to Crater Lake. The restaurant opens at 630AM and closes at 10PM, and is conveniently next to a gas station and across the street from Dawson Lodge!

A better choice than generic subway. Beer and Foot long hotdog with the works and French fries served freshly cooked and not too greasy. Breakfast menu looked great. Friendly staff. Bathrooms notably attractive and spotless with nice changing table.
