Went here kinda of late one nite. About 9:30 thankfully they were still serving food. Had good margaritas on rocks. Good stuff. Also had combo fajitas. Very good nice place to sit down have some Mexican food and enjoy a drink. Friendly staff and food was fast and hot.

Great Mexican food. I’ve been dining here since my college years 12+years. I live in Spokane but when I want authentic Mexican food I make my way into Cheney. They have great chips and salsa. Can’t go wrong with pretty much ordering anything off the menu. Highly recommend. The building itself could use some remodeling but overall it’s a great place to dine in.

I live for their mild salsa. Yes, I’m that girl that thinks the house salsa is too spicy. But damn their mild is good. Always get the enchiladas or burritos and have never been disappointed! It’s family owned and run and they take great care of you! Don’t get a fishbowl, they’re a waste of money but they taste great!

Food: bland, boring and at times questionably safe to eat. Service: cold, often passive and borderline rude. I don’t get how this place has stayed open all these years.

As a Mexican native there isn’t many Mexican food joints in the US that meet my expectations when it comes down to overall food taste, presentation and feeling. So I was shocked when I entered El Rodeo and was greeted so comfortably and given some nice food. As you can expect the Décor for el rodeo is very traditional with horses and mariachi bands on the walls with all the traditional colors you will see at any other Mexican restaurant, so creativity for décor is tossed out the window. However once I met the owner my expectations started to change the owner and her son run the place and they greeted my family and I and sat us down offering us the traditional chips and salsa, the cabbage coleslaw with the jalapeños however is not good so it probably should only be served to order. I ordered the arroz con pollo and my wife ordered the carne asada, our food was brought to our table within 20 minutes so our overall wait time even though the place was full was very fast. My arroz con pollo was above average the mushrooms were not mushy as tends to be the case in many Mexican restaurants, the sauce was very rich and I could taste all the flavors from the onions and condiments. My wife really enjoyed the carne asada and stated that it may have been a little to oily but was otherwise very good(my wife is not Hispanic). Throughout our dinner experience the owner constantly checked up on us any I am happy to say I was never in need of a drink or extra salsa they are very customer driven and make an attempt to please their guests. Overall my experience at El rodeo was nice I enjoyed it and will be back and provide them with feedback. This place has great potential.

Stopped here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The building and décor aren’t anything special, but I don’t come to places based on décor. Although they were busy the service was fast and friendly. The enchiladas were very good. The rice and beans were pretty good. I’d certainly come back.

My wife and I love this place. We’ve had multiple trips to Mexico, San Diego, and many other places and we always enjoy finding a good Mexican restaurant. In fact, we thought we had been to some good ones –and trust me, we went every place we could try locally — including North Spokane, South Spokane, Central Spokane, Airway Heights, Post Falls, etc. Bottom line, dozens of local restaurants — some are out of business now. We had a couple that we considered our favorites. We even thought they would be very hard to beat until we went here. If you don’t live in Cheney, it’s worth the drive to give this place a try. It’s simply outstanding. Superb quality, generous portions, great service, etc. The food is the reason to go, but my wife enjoys the blackberry margarita as well. If you find yourself in the mood or willing to take a drive out of Spokane for dinner sometime, you won’t be disappointed. Out of the half dozen or so times we’ve been here in the last 3 – 4 months(since we found it) so far, we haven’t been disappointed yet. The drive time is the only thing that limits us.

Mexican food is fairly plentiful in Spokane and surrounding area. El Rodeo beats the competition HANDSDOWN!!! The menu is expansive and the food speaks for itself. I’ve had bland Mexican food at many local restaurants and El Rodeo has the seasoning figured out!!! The portions are ample and your food will arrive quickly and hot(temperature-wise.) No runny refrieds either!!! From chili rellenos to chicken or cheese enchiladas to fajitas and burritos EVERYTHING has been excellent. Great job, El Rodeo… I’ve tried the others and have decided to stick with you :~)

Absolutely horrible excuse for Mexican food. Skip this place. I’m only giving it two stars because the service was very nice. But it was interesting to me that when the waitress came to our table and saw we’d only eaten a few bits of our lousy food, and asked, surprised, «would you like to go boxes?» and we responded with a resounding NO, she just shrugged and said«K. I’ll get the check.» I’m thinking she’s seen quite a few full, uneaten plates before, and ours were no surprise. Again, skip this bland, soggy, greasy, tasteless, completely uninspired«food». If you can even call it that. I know I sure couldn’t. Blech.

I did not spend much time here last year but when I did I loved eating here. The staff is really friendly, the dining facility is clean and they have a variety of things to order off the menu. Personally this is the best Mexican food you can actually get in Cheney Washington because your only other choices are Taco Bell, On Campus dining(which is never that good) and this other Mexican restaurant by the dollar store which his not as good. The food is not bland it is just not as authentic as the food you can get down in Arizona or Southern California. That is why I am giving this place 4 stars the food is not terrible it just has less of a kick than any other place I have been to in Southern California or in Phoenix. The food is priced reasonably and it surprises me that EWU does not provide more flex dollars to the students so they can actually enjoy eating good food once in awhile. The portions are fair and you can save food for lunch the next day.

I don’t spend much time in Cheney but when I do, I love to eat here. The staff is really friendly, the drinks are very generous in size and the food is good. I had the chicken fajitas and they were delicious. The only thing on my plate I had any issue with was the refried beans. They were a bit too runny. But the margaritas are so big and yummy. I’d definitely recommend this place if you love Mexican food.

I’ve heard this place used to be pretty good when it was called Fiesta Charra(Cowboy Party… kinky) However, I ate there today and was not impressed… at all. Everything was just ridiculously bland with little to no spice… unless you count grease and salt as spices. It’s not that it was bland, it was just… food. It was like eating to live, not living to eat. There is much better Mexican to be had just a wee bit north in Spokane, and PHENOMENAL Mexican a couple hours SE in Yakima.

This restaurant used to be called Fiesta Charra I believe but now it is El Rodeo’s. Being half Mexican and from San Diego, California, I immediately wanted to see if Cheney had any good Mexican food restaurants I could go to. El Rodeo’s was closest to where I lived so I decided to try it out. I went there during lunch time and to my surprise the place was empty. This kinda scared me at first. However, I ordered my food and it was fantastic. The salsa was incredible and tasted super authentic. The bean and rice were good as well. All and all, although not as authentic as I am used to, the food was great as well as the service. If you are looking for the real deal, you are going to have to go farther south. But for Cheney, this is your best bet in the Mexican food department!
