About the time they changed the menu,(no more large pizzas) it seems that the old super friendly and knowledgable staff was replaced. The quality of the food and service has really suffered and it’s to bad, it’s as if there new owners Still a great selection of beers, I used to take the family 1 or 2 times a week, but after the last very disappointing visit we decided it’s not for us anymore.

The portions are huge and the food is delicious! Best calzones I’ve ever had and the pesto ranch dressing is to die for.

I can never decide if it is the crust, sauce, or toppings that make a pizza. But after eating here tonight I gotta say their crust is perfect! Thin, but not cracker, it has some chewy, delicious depth with that brick oven flavor. And don’t miss the wedgie appetizers especially because of the Pest Ranch dipping sauce, ah yum-o. Super nice waitress as well.

Tried this place with a group of about 16. There was another large group as well, but they already had their food, so our service shouldn’t have put a big strain in the staff. Service was so bad it was comical. Our waitress told us after we were seated she would be right back with glasses and a pitcher of water. She came back with two pitchers of water in about 10 min, but noticed she forgot the glasses. Rather than drop the pitchers and get glasses, she took the water with her and never returned. We were there for almost two hours and never saw our water. Yep, no drink service, so I went to the bar and ordered. I asked for it to be put on our dinner bill. Eventually the bartender stopped by our table and took a drink order for the rest. Our players ordered within 15 minutes and got their salads and pizza within another 25 minutes. However, our table still hadn’t seen a server so wasn’t able to put in a food order after 45 min. Eventually, we all took turns going to the kitchen and ordering food. Meanwhile, our players were not given plates, napkins, or flatware, so we went to the waitress station and got it for them. By the time our food arrived our players had been finished for 30 min, so we asked for to-go boxes and ate on the drive to Spokane. When I went to pay for our calzone, salad and two beers, the guy asked me what I had ordered. No ticket was ever created… fortunately for them I’m honest and told him our food/drink order and our daughters. There is no excuse for this poor service. They weren’t busy, and should have been expecting a huge crowd with the regional volleyball tournament in town.

Bad service and the food was decent and over priced. Would not come again. Our food was sitting in the window for 10 minutes. We had to go and ask for our food. By than the food was cold. We also had to go up to a waiter and ask for water and silver wear. I would never come back.

Great food, service and beer. The beer is a bit overpriced however. The major problem I have with this place is that for the past 3 times I went in to get slices they had none available. Every time I went in for slices was at noon so their is no excuse to not have slices available at the lunch hour

Great spot to eat and hang out. Nice warm atmosphere while snow sits outside. Server was nice and they were having a fun trivia competition open to anyone in the restraunt or bar. Great pizza

I was really craving pizza but decided to share a hot sandwich. Ordered a Blt sandwich and what I was expecting and what I got was very disappointing. The pancetta was like bacon bits spread on a over baked hoggie roll. Charging a pretty penny for a sandwich and no pickle isn’t my idea of lunch. I was very dissatisfied and still hungry after leaving this establishment. The waitress didn’t even acknowledge my complaint. You won’t get my patronage again!

Understandably a bit of a wait after an EWUGAME, but closing in on 2 hours between ordering food and actually getting it is ridiculous. Was also told multiple times that a table was soon to be open for our group but ended up sitting in the bar area throughout the entire time because none of the staff followed through

Growing up outside Chicago, I’ve gotten to experience great pizza. I don’t have high hopes for a pizza place outside the Chicago area, but every now and then, I run into a place that exceeds my expectations. Zentropa is one of those places. Not only can you get great tasting classic pizzas, but they also serve up a variety of sauces and toppings. Beer selection is great too. I really really want to give this place 5 stars. However, last two times I was there, although the pizza was great, the service was not. The last time, I wanted to get a growler of beer to go. The server took so long, I passed on the growler and just asked for the check. She felt bad and apologized, but waiting an extra 10 – 15 minutes for a growler was simply not worth it. The employees were working hard, so I chalk it up to a management issue. As much as they charge for their pies, they should make it a point to hire an extra server or two. Hopefully management is taking some of these reviews seriously, there seems to be a common theme among the bad reviews.

Everyone says how good this place is but I honestly feel like it is the definition of sub par. The only I really enjoyed is their tangerine beer but half the time I come in the tap is broken or they ran out. The pizza looks like it was made at a 7⁄11 gas station. It’s a decent place to go if you’re not paying for the bill but if that’s not the case I suggest do not go.

Be very, very careful when leaving a tip at Zentropa with a credit card. I tip generously, but my tip was inflated by a dollar. When contacted, the owner basically admitted this and refused to do anything about it. I’m not the first person this has happened to, apparently. It’s sad, because the atmosphere is unique and the food is pretty good(though a bit overpriced, even without the dishonest tip inflation). Best to pay cash when going to Zentropa, and count your change afterwards.

This is my absolute favorite pizza place… Ever. I’m lucky it’s located in tiny little Cheney, WA. When I was pregnant with my daughter it happened to be high on my list of musthaverightnow cravings. Haha. I recommend the calzones and if you love pesto get the pesto sauce. Yum! The only negative is that there is no changing table or even counter in the bathroom so prepare to get cozy on the floor should you need to tend to the little ones. That is the only thing I would change. Well, that and being able to get Pepsi instead of Coke but nobody’s perfect! ;)

After reading all the stellar reviews for the pizza and wedgies here I ordered delivery and was sadly disappointed. An extra large half crumble half chicken pizza and wedgies ran me $ 29 and change plus tip. The delivery took 35 minutes, not bad and the guy was nice. The crumble pizza was topped with meatballs, ricotta cheese, red bell peppers and onion. Good in theory but lacked salt and garlic. I am not someone who adds an abundance of salt to my food but the sauce just lacked seasoning which left it tasting flat. The ingredients were fresh but the crust was soggy underneath and the end of the crust was crunchy like a cracker not soft and doughy. The chicken half of the pizza was just missing flavor, the artichoke hearts had not bite and the garlic white sauce needed more oomph. The crust was the same soggy story. As for the wedgies or bites of pizza dough covered in Parmesan cheese, they came with marinara and pesto ranch for dipping and were pretty good… not great. I wanted so badly to like this place and maybe I caught them on an off day. I will give them another try as their salads looked good and I’ll try their lunch special next time.

It really makes me sad to write a downgrade of what used to be one of the best pizza places I’ve ever known. However, Zentropa is just not what it used to be. I don’t know if it’s because all the original employees are gone(I knew one of them who really put a lot of pride in his work!), but the quality of the food has gone downhill. I get a ton of burned chunks of bread in my pizza all the time, and the smaller pizzas get skimped on the toppings with a sloppy presentation. They also raised their prices, in spite of their decreased quality. I would have paid that price for the old Zentropa, but not the new. Man, this bums me out. I hope something changes, because I miss their old hands-on approach. It just feels cheap. :(

Friendly staff and owners. Great beer selection and a variety of good pizza combinations. They also have pizza by the slice for a quick lunch. Very reasonable prices. Best pizza place on the west plains. Try it if you are in Cheney!

Great pizza and even better beer selection! Love all of the different microbrews on tap! Definitely got our money’s worth with the pizza we ordered. Next time we’re in Cheney we will definitely stop here again!

I remember when Zentropa was a movie theater in Cheney! This is a big step up. My dad and I came in here for a quick lunch. We both got lunch specials, I had a slice, a salad and a soda for $ 6.99. I am kicking myself now for not getting a beer they had on tap, No Li Mosh Pit(cherry sour) since I didn’t see it anywhere else during my trip of eating and gallivanting. The pizza was pepperoni and nothing too special but it was good. No complaints. My dad said the crust was too thick for his preferences. I tend to like deep dish and this was a solid piece of pizza. Not too greasy, not too healthy, not too heavy or light. It was pretty Goldilocksy for me, it hit all the marks. The salad was fresh and unusual. House salad with mushrooms? It was good though. And they didn’t have ranch, only pesto ranch which was strange but still good. I was feeling flexible. But no ranch? I’d def go back. My last few visits to Rocky Rococo’s downtown were awful service and mediocre food so Zentropa fills a pizza void for me. I love me some Rosa’s cheesebread but their pizza is lackluster for me. Zentropa made a perfect lunch you could def get on a 30 min lunch which isn’t always easy to find. Hope this is a pattern and not a lucky strike. They had about 25 beers or so on tap and plenty of street parking. They take cards. I’m not sure if there’s wifi and you could def grab lunch, even with a beer, under $ 10.

Update 6⁄2015: Zentropa has become one of my favorite places in Cheney. I love the rose wine they have here. I have received much better service than my first experience! I’ve gotten to know the regular bartenders well enough that they know what I want to drink. I meet a good friend of mine there somewhat regularly for a girls’ wine night and we have a lovely time. It’s a quiet, low-key atmosphere with a higher concentration of men than women, but doesn’t seem to attract the bro crowd. Most people I’ve found there at off times(my favorite times are at lunch and before/after the dinner rush) are pretty cool people; educated, late 20’s and older, and willing to engage in polite and usually interesting conversation. While I don’t often go there to eat, I do love their parmesan bite things and the house salad is refreshing during the hot Eastern WA summer. 12/14/2014: My boyfriend and I went here about three hours after an EWU football game. We sat at the bar. There were seven people seated at the bar, including us. We sat there for about ten minutes. At the bar. No one came to ask us if we wanted a drink. To me, sitting at the bar, a customer should have a beer offered and in front of them within ten minutes. The bartender was there, but could not locate the correct spigot for the beers another patron had ordered. I don’t really think you should have an employee behind the bar that can’t do a task as simple as pulling a beer. We walked out and went to Rokko’s. They don’t have the beer selection, but the staff acknowledges the customers and serves your drinks quickly. Helpful hint for the owner of this business: People are a lot more tolerant of crap service if they have alcohol in front of them. Get your bartender on board and get him to figure out how to get it in front of your customers within ten minutes of them sitting ATTHEBAR!

I didn’t know this place existed until my parents came home with a box of their pizza tonight. Naturally, I snagged a slice of it for myself and it was delicious! I’m glad I now know of this place since I attend EWU during the school year. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn’t as pricey. But I’ll definitely be stopping in whenever I can.
