FATZ Cafe

This place is dark and dirty. The service is inexperienced and unprofessional. The food is substandard, the portions of the salad are stupid big and the lettuce limp, the loaded baked potato soup had noooo flavor. I will never go back there

Very good food for a chain, a very pleasant surprise. Waitress was excellent, and her suggestions were spot on, as I had never eaten at a Fatz before. Crunchy tender chicken tenders, and the side of Brussels was very good, almost as good as my granny’s!

I used to eat here at least once a week until they started messing up my order. I always ordered the same thing but they still managed to mess it up. I contacted someone higher up which responded by sending me a gift certificate which was nice and the manager called me personally to apologize which i appreciated also. Then after all this several other times the same thing order wasnt right and i would have to wait for them to redo it after all the hassel i just quit going i might eat there once every few months now. Its a shame because i really liked the food when they got it right.

Our waiter was friendly and very efficient. Forget the fatz muffins, they were like rubber. BUT everything else was great. I had the fish sandwich and substituted a salad for the fries. The salad was very fresh and we loved the raspberry dressing. My husband had the sampler platter with sweet potato and salad. That’s a lit of food… The ribs, shrimp and chicken fingers were all good. Hope to find another Fatz in our travels.

Came here for lunch while visiting Cheraw, South Carolina to drop my cousin back off where she lives and to visit my grandfather. FATZ café is a low key chain restaurant that appaarently spans across the Carolinas, parts of Georgia, and Virginia; where you can get stardant American favorites. This one in Cheraw is the only location that I’ve been to, and I can say based solely on my experience here that they really take pride in both their food and customer service. I got the calabash popcorn shrimp wrap, (substituted in place of the chicken) with spicy ranch and french fries on the side and it was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and filled with southern charm and hospitality. The establishment was also very clean with a good atmosphere. Overall there aren’t many places in Cheraw to go out to, but if youre ever in the area this has to be one of your stops.

Visiting Cheraw SC for retriever test and needed to find a place to get dinner in this small town. FatZ seems to be a chain similar to Ruby Tuesdays or Applebee’s in the northeast states, despite the strange name (from a marketing perspective).
So my husband and I went without high expectations and were pleasantly surprised! Face it, the food in these chains is probably of similar quality. But our meal at FatZ showed us the difference that attentive preparation and service makes!
We ordered the baby back ribs which were true BABY backs and prepared well with a barbecue sauce on the sweet side, but not over sweet. The meat was tender, came off the bone easily, was blackened just the right amount on the grill after slow cooking and had no extraneous fat. Plus, the portion they call a full rack was easily double the size of a full rack in more northern states!
The potato was out of this world! A simple baked potato. But so hard to find one baked and not steamed and mushy. There was real butter to apply too!
The simple house salad was also perfect! Again, attention to quality made the difference. The lettuce was cold, but not frozen and wilted, or browning. The tomatoes were not overripe. The croutons, cheese, and bacon topping were all in perfect proportion.
Service was great and the attention to detail and quality preparation of the food made me realize just how bad that attention is in some other chains.
We also had the southern hospitality displayed everywhere around here! A nice touch, even if I’m still in a Yankee hurry!
We had a great quality meal with huge potions and friendly service! Wish we had this back home!

For a chain restaurant this is not bad! They normally have a very good wait staff and are generally friendly… food can range from ok to great… but we like it!

Attentive service and standard, consistent pub food

I love those Calabash Chicken Tenders! We have never had a bad experience here. The staff is friendly, the food is great, and everything is CLEAN! We really love it!
