How can I start? About a mile from Harrahs Cherokee Casino. WARNING do not go here if you main diet of leafy green vegetables you know the kind that your supposed to eat? This is Southern threw and threw from the breakfast buffet with grits bacon gravy and sausage. . To the lunch Buffet of Fried chicken with all the fixins. shhhhh do not tell anyone put I have went in and got a to got box and took it back to the Casino where I was staying. Most people are locals and are welcomed by name as they walk in. Sam… you want you regular table? it that sort of southern fried place that packs people in day after day. Not just the fact that it can save you around $ 100.00 on meals. When you lose all your money at the Casino… been lucky myself it will not cost much to to a few good meals. try it…

Picture this– you’ve been in a damn car for 4 hours straight, winding down through cold, rainy, foggy, dreary mountains. Its 7pm and the only thing you’ve had to eat all day is a few chips, trail mix and a coke because someone’s happy azz decided to get up at the butt-crack of dawn and go on a 1 mile hike straight up the side of a mountain. A mile, vertically. No food, no water, just a now-warm coke you left in the car because you were pissed. So finally we come down off the mountain and head the 3.5 hours home. Felt like we had spent all weekend in the car. The Unilocal Gods pointed me toward a place called«Granny’s Kitchen». The name and location did not inspire high hopes. Immediately upon walking in, however, I realized my dreams had come true. There’s a huge buffet filled with comfort food. Beans, salad, soup, catfish, rolls, ham, okra, just to name a few items. There’s even a guy on the end of the bar cutting succulent, juicy roast beef. I ate until I just couldn’t eat anymore. It was $ 12 per person!!! Could you ask for anything better? The only negatives here were the Pepsi products and that they didn’t have heat. It was just as cold inside as outside. Don’t even care. The food, the staff were wonderful. If you live in the area you are one lucky duck. If you’re visiting you have to come by. It is right down the road from the casino. Just go, you can thank me later.

Would give half a star if possible! Not sure how this place received so many great reviews! Came for lunch off a recommendation from a friend and I’ll no longer be taking his recommendations! LOL First, for a buffet, I was extremely disappointed. Basically, they served a turkey dinner with all the fixings and also had smoked sausage with kraut. That’s IT! Granted it meets the definition of a buffet but come on, who now serves only two meats on a buffet? EVERYTHING was over salted except for the mashed potatoes. I had to combine the turkey with it to balance the turkey out. Greens from a can… heck you can even taste the aluminum! Staff’s not that great either! Got the attention of the waitress and she held up a finger for one moment… no problem there. Then after she leaves the current table(which was 2 ft away), she walks AWAY, gets sweet tea for another table, then stops by another table and then finally comes back to our table. Then I finally get to ask for hot sauce. Was brought one by a friend before she even made it back. Granny’s everywhere would be disappointed!

Great home cooking! Comfort foods with a very well-stocked salad bar. Fresh baked pies and cakes. I feel like this restaurant cooks everything from scratch. The servers are very nice and made us feel like family. Even the coffee tasted fresh-brewed. Felt right at home here!

Another great dining experience at Granny’s. Went on Friday and the buffet included fresh fish and fried shrimp. It was all good and service was great.

The best home cooking I’ve ever had for a restaurant! The only disappointment was only 1 – 2 desserts!

Amazing buffet, great prices, large selections. Our server, Denise, is an expert at serving and helping customers. I came in, seated myself, ordered drinks, then went to the buffet. There was a large range of selections. Salad bar, dessert, and more. I’ll be returning. Such low prices!

Solid three star restaurant. Food was plentiful, prices are great for a full meal, and staff stays busy running around to get what you need. Some of the food is more like candy; good olé southern country cooking!

Got here at 5:30 pm. There were over 100 empty tables and chairs(the place wasn’t even 25% occupied) yet we had to wait for 15 minutes. When we left I counted 45 empty tables and chairs and they were telling new arrivals the wait was ins and one-half hour. It’s a buffet. No waiting.

We were a large party of three generations from different parts of the country, and we were seated immediately. Great start! The potatoes were perfectly cooked(weird starter for a review, but they were!), and the biscuits were moist, moist, moist! My children ate up the chicken ‘n’ dumplings and several other items. My gf husband had full plates, as well. Our waitress was one of the best ever, too, in both attentiveness and charm! The prices were also great! The four-star rating is because their best dessert offerings(cream pies) are not part of the buffet; you have to order them separately – odd.

I half expect my hotel is paid to recommend this place to tourists. I know it’s «southern cooking» which tends to be heavier, but while I grew up in Indiana my whole family is Southern. I grew up on southern cooking. I have never had greasier chicken, and on top of that it was flavorless. Most of the sides are from a box or can, so you can’t call it home cooking really. I settled to having a large lackluster salad to finish my meal because I couldn’t handle anything else. Probably for the best, since my mother who I was traveling with ended up sick after eating there.

The food was good and plentiful. The service was excellent. A buffet with not a ton of options, but those options were delicious!

A great little place for lunch. it had a small buffet but the food on the buffet was very tasty. it was all Southern food including fried chicken. there was not much in the way of dessert but for the price for me and my wife to eat being under $ 20 I am not going to complain about the desert.

This is very much mom and pop place. Although the staff is friendly it took them a while to meet our eyes when we first walked in. The buffet was surprisingly small, the food items were good and the roast beef exceptional. There was pudding for dessert. That’s all. The buffet was set up to the right when you walked in and then the seating area was to the left. Once you are seated, to get to the buffet, you have to walk through a crowd of people who are waiting to be seated or walk around behind the cashier where the wait staff hung out. kind of an awkward flow for l buffet especially one that is set up as a buffet only restaurant . The décor was nice the carpet was filthy. We arrived at about 8:30 on a Sunday night. there were several tables that needed to be cleared but the table they seated us at was clean. After we got our first serving they came and asked us if we wanted anything more from the buffet so they could break it down. Then they started sweeping the carpet with a corn bristle broom. one of our pet peeves is sweeping floors while we’re eating — all that dust and dirt floating through the air that you breathe and getting into all the food that you eat yuck. But we chalked it up to a mom and pop place that didn’t know the rules of restaurant etiquette and cleanliness. The food was good enough to eat there again in a pinch.

One night I’m dancing the night away in Vegas and the next… I’m eating a down home breakfast buffet at Granny’s Kitchen in Cherokee, NC. Oh, the dichotomy that is my life. Located five minutes from the Harruh’s casino, Granny’s Kitchen beats eating in the casino’s expensive buffet. You’ll find all of the breakfast staples here — bacon, scrambled eggs, grits, french toast sticks, etc. I was surprised and glad they also had a fresh fruit bar. Under ten bucks, Granny’s is a hearty place for no-frills breakfast. They also serve lunch starting at 11am.

This place was super busy at lunch time, so we rolled in expecting a special treat. We walked in an saw an unspectacular buffet, but my parents were juiced so I went with it. Although all the food was colorless, brown fried chicken, super dried looking BBQ, and SB steak. The chicken and the steak were ok, and the potatoes were good. The salad was ok, I haven’t had the imitation red bacon bits since the 90’s. Everything was mediocre, and it was priced as such(lunch was 8.50). The thing is, I got very sick after eating here. It has been 5 days and I am still functioning, but really sick to my stomach. I have a stomach that is like a steal trap, and I have not had a stomach issue in years. I’m not sure if it was the food, maybe they serve tap? I’m from outta town. Anyhow, the key thing is I haven’t been sick in years and this place made me sick, something is off.

Do yourself a favor, drive on by. There was no menu, just a buffet, full of disgusting out of the can and into the steam table food. thick gelatinous gravy, dry turkey, canned green beans with no seasoning. ugh, I get heartburn thinking about this place. Trust me, if you care about your food at all, you will keep on driving. I gave it 2 stars because it seemed clean.

Is there a rating below a star? Because the trips made to the restroom after we ate here make us want to rate this place a –1. Digestive issues aside, the minimal«buffet» was a pretty ok salad bar, flavorless fried chicken, over cooked green beans, burnt cream corn -(yes, you CAN screw that up) dry roast beef, over-glazed dried-out ham and under-roasted potatoes. For this, just under $ 12… If you drink water. Want some tea? Or a soda? That’ll be another $ 3 please. Nope, not a joke. Tea is more than $ 2! PASSTHISPLACEBY! If you don’t, you won’t pass a bathroom for the next 12 hours, I promise!
